Er? Thanks for the bollocking!! But i DO understand what Windows is telling me when it is about to do an update/reboot etc etc.... If you read my initial post carefully you would have seen that i was out of the house when said update/reboot etc. took place without my knowledge until i returned. I fully understood the nature of the Windows 10 Update issue just not how to get DCS 1.5 Beta update progress to complete? An issue that was helpfully and quickly solved in a non-patronising manner by the guys above! Also, as per my reply above, having become aware of what had happened on my return i went into Windows 10 Computer Management > Services and disabled the Windows Update Service so that the issue will not occur in the future. And i did all of this without my Mummy or Daddy holding my hand for me!! Jeez!!! I'm 50 years old, a former Marine Communications Technician and have been using MS operating systems since MS-DOS 6.0!! Thank you!!

Thanks guys! I remembered about the command prompt as soon as i read your post! I knew there was another way to get the Updater kick-started. Thanks anyway! And yeah, i disabled Automatic Windows Updates before i even posted! Lesson learnt!! Thanks.

Hi folks, Been away from the sim for a few months and decided to do a full update prior to jumping back in. Downloaded the latest updater and dropped it into the \bin folder of my 2.0 Alpha install, that updated fine. Did the same with 1.5 Beta install folder and left the updater running while i went out for a while. Came back and lo and behold Windows 10 had one an update and re-started my pc mid-DCS update!!!! It didn't complete as the DCS.exe version is not the one specified on the updates page and theres a bunch of files in the Beta install that have not been updated as per the ones in my Alpha folders. Trouble is i tried running the updater again 1.5 Beta and now it doesn't update it just starts the sim up??? Multiple attempts and definitely using the most recent updater but no luck? Any ideas chaps? Thanks.

Yeah, i've been trying just now and it's very difficult to accurately use the guided munitions without overflying the target inside the AAA envelope. Still, its a mod not a full blown module so can't complain? It's just nice to be able to actually fly these aircraft! Thanks.

Great mods!! A few questions? Hey there Morkva, I've just discovered your amazing flyable aircraft mods yesterday and have been trying them all out in 1.5.3 and 2.01. They are great fun and i was especially happy to see the F-15E Strike Eagle (i had Microprose's F-15E Strike Eagle and Jane's F-15 back in the day!) I have a couple of questions regarding controls and employing weapons? When i go into the Controls menu for the F-18 the Default "Layer" is Su-33 and yet the download page for the mod say that it uses Su-25T avionics and so i would assume Su-25T Control inputs to use those avionics? Is this correct or should i use the Su-33 profile? I fully understand that these mod aircraft are not meant to be fully functional aircraft in terms of weapon employment but are there any tips on getting the most out of the limited functionality we currently have? I have successfully dropped un-guided bombs and launched Mavericks and Sidewinders but wondered if other weapons were also able to be used reasonably effectively such as HARM's, LGB;s etc etc. Finally, would it be possible in the future to change the avionics for the US aircraft to A-10A or A-10C symbology/functionality? This would make them more realistic in my humble opinion (this is NOT a complaint!) I assume there is or was a coding reason why the Su-25T systems were implemented instead of US ones? Thanks. I will be playing around with the aircraft more today so i may well answer some of my own questions in the process. But any tips or help from you guys would be great! Hi everyone, I would also like to thank Hollywood very much indeed for his patient and prompt assistance in helping me get VIACOM 2.0 working on my rig. I had some issues with button mapping on my Warthog HOTAs and by walking me through some logical steps and getting me to check a few important settings i was finally able to get full functionality from this great piece of software. I'd tried VAC before and to be honest found it too clunky to get used to, so when i discovered Voice Attack and then VIACOM i was delighted to find a system for voice comms that worked really well for me. You do still need to spend time playing with the various command combinations to find what works best for you with your mike setup etc. but once you've done that this VA/VC combination is in my opinion the best way to go if you are new and getting into Voice Commands in DCS (especially A-10C which VC is optimised for). Thanks very much Hollywood, you have helped take the immersion of DCS to a new level for me! :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Hi, I've just tonight installed VIACOM 2.0 for use with A-10C. Followed all instructions in the manual to the letter and also read the appropriate posts by Davison and watched his install and setup video. However i have yet after a few hours of trying been able to get any response in terms of actions by my wingman etc. or contact ATC, JTAc etc in any mission i've tried. When i key the PTT Mic switches on my TM Warthog throttle, they do bring up the correct radios in sim VHF, UHF etc (with non-applicable choices in black) but sending even the most basic commands (Two, Go Trail etc.) gets no response or beeps etc from the sim or VA, nor does the comms menu change from the initial one that appears when the PTT is keyed. The PTT switches on the throttle also seem to be in "toggle" mode rather than "hold" mode as i would have expected? The menu comes on both when the PTT is held but also stays on when keyed and then off when keyed again? I'm not using TM T.A.R.G.E.T. GUI profile mapping either. I am on 1.5ob and have changed the file line that was specified, and have also checked the non-US keyboard issue as well and have ensured all is as it should be. I'm a Brit and i've even downloaded and installed the Windows 10 English Speech pack (cor blimey!!) Have done the speech recognition training etc. and have a good quality mike/headset etc. The most common error i seem to be getting from VA when the a-10c profile is running is "Invalid Radio". VA seems to be recognising most of the commands i'm saying but not all, which i guess is to be expected on first use. I've tried numerous commands on each position of the Warthog Mic switch but the sim has yet to react to any of them? I'm certain there's something simple i'm doing wrong but it's 02:13 here now and i've run out of ideas? Sorry. Also: Autohotkey script is running and tested, set to Joystick 1 (throttle) etc. Joystick 0 is my stick. Visible comms menus are turned on and pilot speech also on. Version 1.5.8 of VA Have used "reset profile" and "start mission" commands prior to sim mission start, i get the 2 beeps but i have to click the Fly button myself, VA won't do it. Hope i've included as much info as possible to help with a solution, i'd really like to get this up and running if possible. Thanks v much.

Hi, Not sure whats changed other than the recent updates released for both 1.5 beta and 2.0 alpha but i no longer have this problem on the F-15C. Haven't changed hardware config either since initial problems so maybe one of the updates has fixed it for me? Not tried the Bf-109K yet but will do and post if the problem still exists there? Hi, Thanks for the responses. Don't have Eagle Dynamics in Start Menu i'm afraid. All ED titles installed to D drive and using Windows 10. Not sure if that's why but its not there? Have downloaded the newest updater but it will not run from inside \bin Am running it in its own folder and it's currently downloading the new files and folders etc to that folder. Guess i will have to manually copy them over to the sim folders on completion? auto_update_log attached below. My first sim was F-15 Strike Eagle 3 from Microprose! 20 years from now i guess it will be full VR type stuff with the way things are going with devices like Oculus Rift etc? Exciting times considering they said the flight sim era had passed into history years ago?

Yes, me too with just purchased Bf-109k (throttle) and the F-15C is crap with or without moving the throttle (3-4 FPS every flight)

Ok, cool well i'll certainly try that first anyway? Yeah, the activations thing? Never really been able to get my head around paying my hard-earned green for something but then one day having to run the risk of paying for it again just because i upgraded or had to do a system restore or some such? I mean i completely understand copyright protection and DRM etc. but a finite number of times seems draconian to me? Still i've got plenty of activations left on all modules and once installed on new PC that should be it for a couple of years at least? Thanks for the heads up!

Hi, Got a new Asus R20AJ ROG gaming system arriving sometime next week. Obviously i want to make the process of re-installing DCS World 2.0 Alpha, all modules and probably 1.5 Beta too as painless as possible. Can i copy all the relevant folders/files from my existing system to a portable HD then onto the new PC in the correct location and just run the updater/installer to check for and install any new/additional files needed etc? Or, dare i ask it? Will i have to do a fresh re-download and install from within 2.0 and 1.5 interfaces? Please say NO!!! Thanks.

You have described pretty much the process i followed this week to download and install 2.0, and yes it took pretty much a week! 2.0 currently occupies 43.4 GB on my HD which includes modules: DCS" 2.0 Nevada Terrain A-10C Flaming Cliffs 3 Black Shark 2 P-51D Combined Arms Definitely only download ALL the 2.0 modules and terrain via the module manager in the top left of the main 2.0 interface screen. Don't try copying anything in that you've downloaded previously or separately. I made that mistake and had to uninstall 2.0, Nevada and re-download and install from scratch (cost me an extra 24 hours!) Good to see someone returning to the franchise after so long, my history dates back even further to Su-27 Flanker and LOMAC etc. I can tell you that based on the 24-48 hours i've had of flying 2.0 so far and assuming you have no issues with your system running it etc. this is the sim you have been waiting for all your life! Lol! It is AWESOME! I don't have a particularly fast machine but it runs great at around 30 fps with most settings at a decent level. Current GPU's and EDGE have made this sim what it should be! Enjoy!

Hi, In both 1.5 Beta and 2.0 Alpha i have good performance (30+ FPS) with all aircraft other than the F-15C? F-15 drops to a slide show and a very slow slide show (2-3 FPS) at that, totally unplayable. Only the F15 though but it happens every single time i load up any type of mission? Considering i have a 3 year old gaming laptop with only an i7 2260QM @ 2.2 GHz and a GTX560M (3GB) the sim runs really really well on the whole. I was massively surprised and relieved with the way it runs on first flying 2.0 this morning. Even got quite a few settings on High and 16x AA, 512 cockpits, 4 x MSAA etc. I guess what Wags mentioned in the podcast about 2.0 and EDGE being much more GPU reliant than CPU reliant is true? Certainly i think that's what i'm seeing on my system. Fairly slow CPU but my GPU is actually the one listed as the recommended spec on the 2.0 d/l page? Mobile version as well! Have to say i'd given up flying the pre 1.5 versions as they were an absolute stutterfest! Even on low settings. 2.0 has totally transformed the experience of DCS for me, and i've got an Asus G20AJ ROG gaming PC with an i7 4790 @ 3.6 GHz and a GTX 980 arriving in the next week!!! Bring it!! Strange issue with the F-15C though? Anyone else got a similar issue?
