  1. Luckily, I had a Windows System Restore point dated one day before the DCS update. I did a restore then updated and repaired DCS. It's working now. EDIT: Did not continue to work
  2. Since last update. Both Eagle Dynamics and Saved Games complete folders excluded in windows 11 Microsoft Defender Antivirus. Everything DCS is checkboxed to allow through firewall. All Mods disabled. Ran complete repair twice and re-booted after each repair. Internet is good and I'm able to connect to both the DCS Forum (obviously) and the DCS website. I don't know what else to do.
  3. This is the first that I've tried enabling Quad Views in DCS settings. I had previously enabled in PimaxPlay. I renamed and moved two files: openxr-oculus-compatibility.dll and openxr-oculus-compatibility.json from Program Files to a different drive, re-booted the machine but the warning persists. I won't do without Necksafer in any case. Any ideas?
  4. Checking in to keep this important topic alive. @NineLine, any news?
  5. Well, I guess that I stand corrected but the HGU-55 in DCS does not look like the ones shown in the photo. The photo looks closer to the HGU-2 so I'm going to leave it as is.
  6. Posted in the comments section of the User Files post: Gr4v3d1gg3r1986 02/08/2025 23:30:58 Awesome livery, but the Phantom pilots in Germany used mostly the HGU 55 helmet at 2010 not the HGU 2 . But still a very very nice livery, especially the used look . I tried to post a link to photographic evidence but links don't work in the comment section in User Files. Thanks for the compliment. I have to disagree about the helmets used in this particular aircraft at the time that the reference photos were taken. Zooming in clearly shows them wearing some variant of HG 2.
  7. Thank you, much appreciated!
  8. Here's 37+22 in worn Norm 90J. I was planning to do it next in Norm 72 and I was sure that I'd seen photos of it as such but can't find it now, so I might have to substitute a different number. Link: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3343179/
  9. I am most decidedly NOT happy with the situation and I am really fearful that new modules will also be encrypted. However, I do understand ED's need to protect their IP. Further, I surmise that there is not enough labor hours available to have this situation be remedied quickly. Whining about it constantly will not change that reality. I do intend to check in regularly though and trust that Nine will respond with what he can and that there will be an eventual solution. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serenity_Prayer
  10. Personally, I much appreciate that yourself and Management does recognize the importance. I also understand that the fix will never be super high priority. Maybe one of your team is a skinning enthusiast and might be able to invest some time. Please keep us up to date even if it's "nothing to report at this time".
  11. @NineLine Thanks. That's a start. Any word about all of the other issues?
  12. Hi @SOLIDKREATE I keep wanting to get serious with Blender but lose concentration after a while. Maybe if I spent some cash on a program I would feel more of a push to stick with it. Once you have more experience with the course, could you do a review?
  13. Would it be possible to have a "Beta Skinners" group sort of like the Beta Testers who would sign an NDA as part of the membership requirements and who would then have access to the encrypted files? Yeah, it would be somewhat elitist and would probably piss off a lot of people. Just spitballing ideas. I'm really worried about the future for the DCS skinning community.
  14. Thanks! This is working for me. Hmm, I couldn't get this one to work. Maybe it needs the description lua in the Cockpit_MiG-21bis folder. I'll try that later.
  15. I thought that I had found it... the file for the lights is "MiG21Bis_CP_020" located in (Drive):\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\MIG-21bis\Textures. I have a pre-update version of DCS and the lights work fine in that version. The MiG21Bis_CP_020 in the older version is a .dds file while in the post update it is a .tga file. I tried removing the .tga and replacing it with the older .dds file but the lights still don't work. In the Model Viewer with the cockpit edm loaded the following draw args control some of the functions. 226 - Test button 227 - Day / Night 601 thru 604 - Amber lights 605 - Center "Lock" light Does anyone know the lua file that controls the lights and where it's located?
  16. The link to the Bugtracker is out of service. That old thread should be eliminated probably.

  17. Any idea which custom cockpit?
  18. Confirmed by myself and 5 other pilots in our squad.
  19. Also confirmed. There is tone but no lights which means we have no idea what quarter the threat is thus removing one of our (if not the only) SA tools.
  20. Yes, emphatically!
  21. Thanks 9! Would you please ask the team to work out something regarding being able to alter roughmets? It's essential especially regarding rendering of bare metal.
  22. Thanks for the reply 9. Its good to know that y'all are working on some kind of solution. I do understand about the need to protect your property. Personally, I don't feel that we were overreacting due to having little to no information from ED about this issue and I hope that you understand our concerns. Please do what you can to regularly keep us informed about possible solutions, even if it's "we're still working on it guys, no news yet".
  23. I have participated numerous times in the competitions and greatly enjoyed seeing what's possible given hard work by talented creators. The winning skins are now part of the default hangar and a (IMHO) real boon to the community. I hope to participate in any future competitions but there will surely be no such competition for the F-5. No, as @Mach3DS and others have said, it's just not possible to skin it as is... "Old School" methods won't work. I can live without doing the F-5 but my great fear is that any new releases (please, please, please NOT the MiG-29!) will be in the same category of non skinnable. Is there any time estimate to "until we do get something better"? Looks like I'm going to have to really push my desire to get on one of the module makers skinning teams... (hint, hint, wink, wink Developers).
  24. Not when I can make a better product myself.
  25. Ah Crap. What a shame. Perhaps the MV might be tweaked to read the encrypted files? Or a completely new MV? Even if possible it would be low priority.
