Are Su-27 Tires So Expensive....
Poopskadoop replied to Colt40Five's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Tires? I'd try to steal something a little more interesting--like the radars. I'd just steal the whole plane. :pilotfly: -
The Pravda has hit the nail!
Poopskadoop replied to Pilotasso's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Pravda isn't a legitimate news source, and I honestly can't imagine that many people pretend it is. -
There is no jet that I dislike dealing with in particular. F-15s aren't too much different from any other enemy that I engage except that it locks you at a farther distance. The only jet I don't like dealing with is the Mirage. It has those French missiles that slow down and then speed up moments before impact. If you're expecting an AMRAAM, it can catch you off-guard. And then a Mirage can actually beat me in BVR and gunzo. An F-15 almost never can.
-
I find evading the Phoenix to be easier than evading the AMRAAM, which is very easy to evade in the game.

I think we've seen the BMP-3 before, but that Leclerc is a nice addition. The more variety we have, the better. And think of it this way: They could very well not have posted new screens, and then no one would be complaining about all these armor shots. It never hurts to have more screen shots.

Isn't ED also working on some sort of trainer for the US military or something of that sort? This may explain the delay. Still, I don't really mind as long as the black shark is going to have all the bells and whistles. I know exactly how I'm going to jump into the new helicopter. Instead of reading the manual or looking up the controls, nevermind start-up procedures, I'm going to start slamming down on buttons and flipping every random switch like a little kid until I break the helicopter somehow.

2 years for a chopper that will handle as close to the real thing as is possible. I don't know why people aren't as stoked as I am.

I must be friggin' retarted!
Poopskadoop replied to Aeroscout's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Better to keep an eye on the MFD (or SFD?) Your radar should be able to track a certain number of degrees off the edge of the HUD. And to storm, as Ironhand mentioned, stay below the eagles, or otherwise make sure that you can dive below their altitude fast enough to prevent them from beaming your missile. There is no other reason why you should be losing lock in most cases. -

You have to coordinate the attack with your wingman. Tell him to take one target and you take the other. The wingman usually misses, but at least the other eagle is kept occupied until you can take him out with an ET. Always keep a mental note of where both eagles are at any given time. Keep in mind that the wingman usually falls back some distance when he is told to engage a target, so don't rush ahead or else both eagles will be engaging you. 2 on 2 is almost as easy as 1 on 1. It's 2 on 1 that's sort of tricky... -
I'd pay about $70 for a later variant Flanker with AFM and clickable pit. I'd consider paying $100! That or the Mig-35.

Looking for a source for Hi-Res images

Nice links. Why does the F-22 look as though it's computer rendered in this pic? http://www.af.mil/shared/media/photodb/photos/070212-F-0000R-113.jpg -
F-16 Ride Along during Lockheed Martin Demo
Poopskadoop replied to LawnDart's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Right, so how many banks will I have to rob to buy myself one of these? -
I use it primarily against long range SAMs. I usually let them lock me, fire their missile, and then I turn ECM on; he loses the lock, and the missile explodes. This works only when you are flying on the edges of the SAM's engagement zone. Get too close and ECM won't help you. You can easily make them run out of munitions this way. Of course, it's sort of exploiting the AI because they never seem to realize that firing from that distance is useless.

Youtube is great, although I try not to read the comments. The concentration of stupidity usually present in the comments causes my IQ to drop a couple of points.

Fi0 always works for me. I don't understand why it shouldn't, unless damage to missiles have been modeled, which I doubt.

Where can one find clips of AMRAAM launches? Furthermore, where can one find clips of R-27, R-77, and R-73 launches?

OT: The future of aircraft propulsion
Poopskadoop replied to Poopskadoop's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I think the biggest limitation future fighters will face is the human body's g-tolerance and the tolerance of the the structure itself under high g. Still, being able to cruise at mach 3 would offer a considerable tactical advantage. :pilotfly: -

Ion jets? Sounds like science fiction. How would that work? -
Alredy looking beter than black shark
Poopskadoop replied to sixer's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Nothing about this looks better than BS. As some have already mentioned, the trailer obviously isn't in-game. The screenshots below reveal the actual game, and, since we have no shots of the cockpit, the only thing we have to judge the game by at the moment are the graphics, which aren't nearly as good as LO's, not even the water. So, I see nothing to substantiate the claim that it's 'better' than BS. I used to love the first EECH, though. That was a great game. I'd play it today, but my X-52 doesn't seem to agree with it. Controls are awkward. I wish I still had my old MS sidewinder. I just hope they don't go the arcade route like so many have done. That trailer is just a little too sensationalist, also predictable. Come on, I knew exactly what was going to happen when I saw that Mi-28. 'Good guys' spot 'bad guy.' Bad guy seems as though he is about to take down the good guys. Good guys narrowly escape and trick the bad guy. Good guys take down bad guy triumphantly. -
When the inherent limitations of the prop engine were discovered, the inevitable next step was to develop a radically new engine that was not susceptible to the weaknesses of the propeller, thus the turbojet was born, followed by the turbofan, etc. Well, it's been over 60 years that we've had this technology, and we've been pushing it to the max. I know a lot of you have very technical knowledge about jet propulsion systems. :) What do you think will be the future of aircraft propulsion? Will we ever see the day when a fighter aircraft can achieve mach 2 without dumping its entire fuel load over the course of a few minutes? I once read something about a nuclear powered jet engine, but it was deemed impractical for some reason. Are there any other possibilities? Better fuels? Better materials for the combustion chamber?
-
That must be such a rush! I wouldn't mind owning one of those. I wonder how he controls it.
-
Sounds like you have a conflict between your joystick programming software and the controls you have entered in LO's options. But I don't own that stick, so don't take my word for it.

Wow, someone has an attitude problem. I like my Russian 'rust buckets,' thank you very much. -
