  1. After getting a heads up on Nvidia drivers issues with the Rift after 388.59 I rolled back my driver with DDU and found DCS to be smoother.
  2. CTRL+KP1 - Disable ASW and USE ATW CTRL+KP2 - Force apps to 45hz, DISABLE ASW CTRL+KP3 - Force apps to 45hz, ENABLE ASW CTRL+KP4 - Enable ASW to operate automatically Just make sure your numlock is on.
  3. Thanks for the correction. I mangled that one.
  4. The Vive pro is 2880x1600. The Pimax 8K is 2560x1440 with a scaler, async displays and a mostly unknown proprietary software. The amount of overhead for scaling is unknown. All this conjecture floating around is just that, until testing units are shipped. Many "aviation experts" said it was impossible to circumnavigate the earth in a solar powered aircraft. I am inclined to not pay too much attention as to what people think the capabilities are just yet.
  5. Project Cars 2: …I get into the cockpit and everything is correct. I look at the car from the outside, I look closely, **** "the screendoor is not noticeable,[…] it's very fluid, everything is right, I ask one of those present to accelerate, I want to see how it looks on the move. This was when I decided that I wanted to be backer. I usually play iRacing and other simRacing games a lot; and in the driving position, feeling how fluid it was, without tearing, ghosting, judder, and all those bad things, plus looking straight ahead and noticing from the corner of the eye the cars overtaking me through the windows thanks to this FOV. Hitting a wall without frame falls, and not even getting dizzy when turning around the car... I want it and I want it now! Ren, take my money. This was a partial translation from this article https://www.realovirtual.com/articulos/5084/nuestra-prueba-pimax-8k-v2-v3-nueva-york/3/sabado-28-octubre-dia-del-v3 from the V3 in New York demonstration.
  6. I love Touch for the games that it is designed, but I can't see using it when I have a hotas for controlling my birds. Total immersion breaker when the haptics are missing. Even my stick and throttle not being a close match, positionally, with what I see can be off putting.
  7. I don't think the CV1 warranty can be transferred. You might want to confirm that.
  8. I think Ru handles English well enough. Not knowing an answer translates as I don't know. The forum is a mess for sure.
  9. It's not a final product, hence the list of questions he was having Pimax respond to, for official verification. It was sloppy as interviews go on both sides, which may have thrown her off. I was puzzled more by her homework remark (she said the same thing in Amsterdam). She could have at least offered the the October kickstarter answer to the audio question "You can either use your own earphone, or you can use the headband with earphone" or the updated deluxe audio strap is still in development and not yet finalized. They really should keep Ru in the loop if they are going to expect her to do these types of shows.
  10. It looks like the screenshot in only showing a portion of the opening screen so I can't tell what the error says. Have you tried setting your desktop resolution to match your in game resolution setting?
  11. Something worth reading. http://forum.pimaxvr.com/t/my-own-thoughts-about-v5-prototype-and-the-mixed-reviews/5113
  12. Thought I said that. The 8KX isn't really a "future" upgrade just a variant that will take longer to arrive due to the technical hurdles. It is part of the kickstarter. Any other future iterations haven't been announced afaik.
  13. This signal in the 5K and 8K is 1440p. The headset has a scaler and only one panel is on at a time. It is only the 8kX that will likely need 2 cables.
  14. Pretty sure the 8k is using DisplayPort 1.4 now.
  15. No doubt. The question is how much of a trade off? Will the added quality of the panels and fov make them worth it? Until we get early testers feedback, much of it is guesswork. Too many unknowns. The overhead of the BrainWarp software is a biggie. What is the cost of upscaling a 1440p signal to 4k and projecting it to two separate 4K panels in alternating fashion (one panel on at a time)? How polished is the ATW/ASW type software? We have never seen this approach before so we must wait for the "very large lady to sing" before drawing any final conclusions and at least until early tester get them before we even get a good idea.
  16. Where would this test have taken place? Details please The reason I ask is that I know of no demo (testing is not a demo and this is still being waited for) that has used the 1080ti even for the 8K let alone the 5K. GizmoSlipTech was using the 8K when he demo'd with DCS. The reported hardware for the CES show was as posted: tristanc Thank you very much for the information, What computers are you going to use for the demonstration, can you tell us something? xunshu 15d tristanc GTX1070 or GTX1080 so you can see why I ask. Before CES everyone was demoing on a 1080 laptop. As a 1080ti owner I await such information.
  17. Will certainly look forward to your feed back if you make the early backer list. Sesbastion Ang (Mixed Reality TV) announced he is one, so you may hear soon. GL
  18. One can either accept the explanation that Pimax gave for taking a fresh off the assembly line prototype to CES despite it not being tuned, or not. Since worry ain't gonna solve dick, they can either take a pill or grow an ulcer. If you look at the Day 1 reviews (I use the term reviews lightly) most issues were cleared up or reduced in following days. People who worry about money they spent to have something developed in a Kickstarter should have stayed away and waited for retail. They could at least wait until early testers put it through the ringer before soiling their underwear.
  19. It isn't about fps. Brainwarp can do that. It is about the refresh rate and until testers get it, we don't know how crucial that is yet. Also, until they get the new bridge chip, we won't know if hitting 90Hz is an issue. No stopping premature whiners unwilling to wait (like they have a choice anyway).
  20. What it looks like externally is right up there with what the guts of my computer look like through a windows all lit up. Not where I am looking so I could care less. Then my avatar is my actual face, so I am not stressing appearance so much anyway. lol
  21. I will take Pimax's response to the issues at CES as valid. Based on everything I have voraciously read in following this tech, I don't see anything that won't be resolved in that regard. Take their statement "the benefit of the new design will reveal after fine tuning". I believe this to be very likely, but then I'm a glass half full kinda guy.
  22. There isn't anything in P5 that should discourage you. They admitted to bringing it to CES despite the fact they hadn't fully calibrated the new hardware. They obviously solved some of the issues at least partially. "After hardware and software fine tuning and all the issues resolved, we plan to ship limited number of testing units to selected backers, and may bring the units to more backers to test via roadshows. " Xunshu Wait for this before you get too concerned. This will be where the rubber meets the road.
  23. revolution? btw it's fool me once shame on you
  24. Yes the actual reply this morning was to my query. xunshu 6h dogbite V5 is the first prototype after the tooling for mass production. It requests lots of tuning works. However, we still decide to bring it to CES to showcase the backers the latest version. We made several changes with v5 before CES. For example, the lenses and the mechanical design of the lenses are both new tooling version. The change may lead to new issues, e.g. the reflections, but the issues will be eliminated and the benefit of the new design will reveal after fine tuning. To reach approximate 30% increase in terms of brightness level, we added 3 more LEDs in the backlight panel from 12 to 15 and increased the LED current supply to the panel as well. As a result, the current supply in other parts decreases and new issues occurs e.g. tracking performance. It's not hard to resolve, the team is working on it. We use valve tracking technology, the tracking performance won't be an issue at all in the final product. After hardware and software fine tuning and all the issues resolved, we plan to ship limited number of testing units to selected backers, and may bring the units to more backers to test via roadshows. The details of the issues and analysis, along with shipping schedule will be updated later this month.
  25. Can you offer a source for that tidbit?
