  1. I wonder if those rocks will come with PFM?
  2. 3 modules given away to 2500 backers, not to anyone and everyone. We're talking about a full value of roughly 375k - 2500 * 3 * 50 (if each module's full price was $50 and if each of the 2500 backers bought three modules at full price). Even with taking into account everyone with 6 planes or more, the total 'outfall' isn't more than a million dollars. I doubt ED only planned to sell a million worth of planes from THREE modules (let alone six), and I highly doubt that the number of potential customers for WW2 planes is as low as 2500 (more like 100.000). What I'm trying to say is: honoring 2500 pledges is peanuts compared to the full potential this line of products has.
  3. What saddens me is that if this happens, if it comes to this scenario, then that's it for crowdfunded DCS stuff.
  4. If I recall correctly, when Ilya introduced the team at the campaign start, many of the devs working on DCS:WW2 came from ED. I seem to recall some debate here on the forums about people recognizing individual devs from the video.
  5. ED's involvement wasn't that small. - they actively advertised the project on their webpage. - they set up a separate page on DCS website for backers who wanted to pay via Paypal - ED set up the Backer page on their website to choose the rewards - many people working on DCS:WW2 were ED employees - ED decided to grant DCS:World serials for P51D and Dora to backers that selected those (I doubt ED would collect that money from the Kickstarter funds to cover the cost of those serials) - ED granted full use of both P51D and Dora in DCS:WW2 So, by no means was DCS:WW2 a simple 3rd party project. ED was more involved in this project than any other 'non-ED' stuff, including Belsimtek (whom they've partnered closely with). To me, this project always felt like RRG was essentially a '2nd development studio for ED', and ED offered so much support to the project that I never had any doubts about ED being heavily involved.
  6. I'm not pissed for not getting stuff for free (hey, I've bought modules that I don't even use, like CA, so I'm the kind of guy that does like to support the company just for support sake), I'm annoyed at having this 'loyalty' reward dangled in front of my nose, just for ED to then take that loyalty reward away with nonsensical rules that don't reward loyalty at all.
  7. The number of backers of the Kickstarter project is only 2500. Honoring these people's pledges is the cheapest solution for ED, because if they don't honor them, I doubt these pledgers would go and BUY all the individual modules. I know I'd be pretty bitter if ED decided to cut me loose and force me to buy airplanes I already payed for (regardless of whether I pledged money to RRG and not ED; ED was very tightly involved in the DCS:WW2 proceedings and they have responsibility for the project, whether they like it or not).
  8. Oh, yeah, you're right... went and re-read the Kickstarter text. It was one airplane for free, and three for $1, four for $20, five for $30 and 6 for $40.
  9. Yeah, great loyalty program... You can: - buy old modules again for yourself (but you already own them, so what sense does that make?) - buy old modules for your friends (so where's the benefit for YOU, the loyal customer?) I hope ED reconsiders these silly policies.
  10. Because those planes will be developed in any case. Because ED promised to try and honor pledges from Kickstarter. Like I said: I can see where they can't honor pledges that present additional cost for ED. But serials for modules they will have in any case, that doesn't cost them anything (except me not paying extra money for those modules as they're released). One important factor though: If ED chooses to NOT honor kickstarter rewards and pledges whenever possible (even though Wags explicitly promised that they would do so), how many people will opt to purchase the modules outright? I for certain know that if I don't get the 6 flyable airplanes I pledged for, I won't be buying the modules separately. So, ED won't be getting any money from me in any case, they'll just have a bitter customer who'll be pissed at them. So, they better deliver what we pledged for, at least the digital content. There are only 2500 backers of DCS:WW2, a very small portion of the full customer base ED has for these products. Honoring 2500 backers is nothing compared to the income ED will have with the full DCS:WW2 release. EDIT: also, for $1 you only get ONE flyable airplane (which was promised as 'free for all'). You get two airplanes at $20, three airplanes at $30 and all six at $40 or higher.
  11. I hate to argue, but according to Wags' last update on the matter (http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=125454): I can see where honoring physical rewards like Tshirts or printed manuals may be an issue for ED, since it presents additional cost for ED. However, Alpha access and serials for DCS:World modules cost ED nothing extra, and they are fully capable of honoring those rewards, by simply giving us the serials and alpha access. EDIT: I posted a Support Ticket about this matter (specifically, Alpha access and Dora for DCS:World). Will see if they answer.
  12. Hmmm... I just went to my Personal section, noticed the $26 bonus I had accumulated is gone... Then posted a Support ticket about it... And now I found this thread... So... 1. one can only have used this bonus prior to 1. 6. 2014, after that date the bonus attributed to your account is gone? 2. one can only use the bonus for 20% of the purchase price, and only on full priced modules? So, to use all my bonus, a person like me (who already has all the airplanes) would have had to buy at least 3 full priced modules (at 50 bucks), which I have no use for (since I own all of them already), so I would have had to buy them for friends? You know, since ED hasn't made any new airplanes available before the deadline was over? I would have bought the Hawk, the Mig21, and any myriad of other airplanes, and would have used up all the bonus, but for this silly deadline. I really see no point in such a loyalty program, if I can't actually USE the bonuses that I earn through the system...
  13. I expect lots of people will buy the Dora... There were only 2500 backers of DCS:WW2, and most of those backed at the lowest tiers where they don't get the Dora for use in DCS:World.
  14. Wow, Mac, I thank you for your generous contribution to the Kickstarter campaign! 8 rewards, eh? I only have 2 rewards (backed at $80 level). I have posted a Support Ticket asking about ED honoring pledge rewards, mainly interested in the Alpha access (whether this will be honored at all), and also DCS:World Dora that I selected as a reward.
  15. Yes, it's an absolute bargain. 6 DCS-level airplanes for 40 bucks, plus a new terrain, new campaign... An absolute steal. Once ED delivers, I bet there will be people kicking themselves in the head for not backing :) No, the planes aren't any different from DCS planes you know (like P51D), it's all this level of fidelity. However, no, this doesn't mean you get DCS modules for use in DCS:World, not necessarily. DCS:WW2 is a separate game. I'm not sure how it'll work in the end. And no, none of the planes are FC3 level of fidelity. All of them will be DCS level.
  16. This is what you need to see in the Backer section if you expect to get Dora in August:
  17. For everyone that this may concern: you only get the DCS:World version of Dora if in addition to the 6 flyable airplanes, you also have the DCS:World Dora selected in the REWARDS section. Cowboy, for example, is not eligible for any rewards (what he posted says Available rewards: 0), so he will only get Dora for DCS:WW2, not Dora for DCS:World, since these are two different games alltogether. I have TWO rewards available in the Rewards section, and one reward I selected as Alpha access, and the second one as DCS:World Dora. So, everyone, check here: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/personal/backer/ (make sure you're logged in). If your 'Available rewards' is more than 0, and if you have DCS:World Dora selected in the "Your Selected Rewards" section, then yes, you should get the Dora for DCS:World. If not, then you'll wait for DCS:WW2.
  18. I backed for DCS:WW2, and one of the perks I chose (in addition to all the planes for DCS:WW2) was Dora for DCS:World. I fully expect ED to send over the serial for the DCS:World version of Dora, just as promised in the Kickstarter campaign for people who selected this particular perk.
  19. This, by all means. I want this project to succeed, and I do hope the ME262 isn't being put on hiatus because of this. The project is in good hands. It will take longer to finish than we hoped, but with ED at the helm, I'm not worried at all.
  20. The $80 Matrix tier did not come with $12 postage. For Matrix tiers, any postage was already included in the Matrix tier price. As per KS page: The other $80 tier did include $12 postage though (if you're outside USA, you'd have to automatically pay the extra $12). I also don't remember any possibility to select the actual rewards on the Kickstarter page. I selected the Matrix 2 tier ($80), and don't recall having to select the actual extras. Again, KS page says this about selecting extras: It's strange indeed. You MAY have pledged for the other $80 tier, payed the extra $12 for postage, and then changed your tier to the Matrix 2 tier, but the $12 extra remained? And maybe RRG just calculated your tier from your amount pledged, not the actual tier you see on your KS page? No idea... Just contact Luthier via PM, he should sort you out.
  21. They are (will be) in every way identical. It's only the theatre that will be different...
  22. High five! Also, who wouldn't select the Me262 as a flyable? I mean, that baby's just cherry on the cake. :joystick: We will at some point need a Tempest V to counter it, though.
  23. TooTall: Every single DCS module to date was first made available as 'beta', an unfinished product. And everyone could buy it and fly it. So, just because you have 'beta access' listed with your FW190, it doesn't mean you'll fly it before everyone else. You will fly the Beta version, when they release it. And when they do release the beta version, everyone will be able to buy it, just like any other DCS module to date (including P51D, A10C, Huey, Mi8 (which is still in beta), FC3...). If the kickstarter page said 'closed beta', or even 'alpha', then yes, you'd fly it before it was made available for purchase. But regular beta was always public.
  24. It remains to be seen if owning the DCS: P51 module automatically grants you the P51 in DCS:WW2. I've heard mention of this back during the Kickstarter campaign (that you shouldn't have to buy the same airplane twice), but at this moment it appears that the two games are strictly separated and that selecting a P51D REWARD (for DCS:World) doesn't necessarily mean you'll have it in DCS:WW2, if you don't select the P51 in the Flyables section as well. It's really looking complicated... While I have no issue on the topic (already have the Mustang, and have selected the DCSW version of FW190 on top of the Flyable DCSWW2 Dora), I'd love to hear what the official policy on this is.
  25. Do the non-cool kids not see this subforum, or are they just unable to post?
