  1. I knew I backed the right WW2 sim :) Great job guys, looking awesome... Great way to step it up a notch.
  2. @upandaway: Timely communication with your pledgers helps build trust, and in the case of delays it helps appease any grudges. For example, if the sep2014 deadline seems impossible to reach, just post about it publicly, say "sorry guys, we're working 24/7 to deliver but had some issues", and people WILL understand. Lack of communication, on the other hand, brews anger, especially if that communication was promised by the producers and obviously expected by the pledgers. Communication is the key. It costs nothing to post an update just to let people know you weren't mangled by wild beasts somewhere.
  3. All backers should be included in the backer section, regardless of where you pledged. As there is no backer section at this point, noone is included yet :)
  4. Yes, the most basic pledge rewards ($1 level) are at this point not being delivered, so people have a right to feel aggravated at the situation. I am not angry at this point, more concerned at this lack of communication, maybe even worried that something happened to Ilya.
  5. ESPECIALLY if you're Luke Skywalker.
  6. Anya is no Sandi... DCS:WW2 needs a Sandi.
  7. Next Kickstarter: Hawker Tempest V!
  8. Obviously, a Hawker Tempest V should be included. Luthier, I'll gladly donate $100 for a Tempest kickstarter!
  9. Ilya, this will be a wild ride... Happy to be on board.
  10. If I were Ilya, I'd put the base price for DCS:WW2 with 3 planes included at $20 (for after-release). But if you pledge at least $10, you get the same package, as a reward for being an 'early backer'. That's $10 for three DCS-level airplanes, which is an amazing deal. After that, 5 airplanes should cost $50 or more on Kickstarter (and $80 on release). Me.262 should not be a stretch goal, but should be instead a reward for higher backers. For example, if you back $80 or more, you get the Me.262 included. But I'd set the release date for Me.262 later than the initial 5-airplane release (say 6 months later for the flyable one). And at eventual release, Me.262 module should cost $40 (so if you back it on Kickstarter, you get a $10 discount, basically, plus beta access). Likewise, B.17 should be a reward for higher tier packages (for example at $140 you get both ME.262 and B.17), and again B.17 should be set for release at a later date (for example 1 year after the initial DCS:WW2 release). When released, B.17 should cost a minimum of $80 or $90 (so, if you back it on Kickstarter, you get a really nice discount). Alpha should be added for an extra fee to all packages, and each package should come in a 'digital' and 'physical' reward tier (digital being with just the airplanes and digital manuals, physical packages having Tshirts, spiral bound manuals etc). I think with this approach we'd get a lot more people pledging (people who are now counting on the 'free' release would at least in part pledge the minimum $10, and people who pledged $40 counting on all the airplanes would surely gladly pay more if it meant they're getting the ME262 and B17 for sure). My 2 cents... But at this point, it's too late. I'm happy we got over 100k. Would be happier with 150k, but that seems unreachable at this moment...
  11. *** sorry, I was replying to the first page of this thread, didn't notice there were actually nine pages already :)
  12. I assume this is about the brown leather-padded bar which is in all the real-life cockpit pictures that people posted in this thread, and goes all around the top of the instruments panel, but is different in the FW-190D DCS model. Compare this FW-190D-9: with this DCS:FW-190D-9: Obviously a difference. But maybe this DCS model is historically correct and some models were done this way?
  13. Hats off, Wags. You've made quite some people happy. I hope this will put an end to the rage, but I do expect at least a few fans to continue posting pissed off, out of principle :) In any case, I personally welcomed the sale as I bought MI8 which I would not do for quite some time otherwise.
  14. I agree, we definitely need some clarification about this. But Luthier and the rest of RRG should really work on a cumulative FAQ, compiling all these tidbits of information that are now lost in threads of 100 pages and more. Found something. From this post: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1863250#post1863250 This can only be understood that DCS:W P51D and Dora will work in DCS:WW2. Also, from this post: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1862413#post1862413
  15. Yes, DCS:World and DCS:WW2 are not the same game. Both are built on the same platform, both can use the same modules. Luthier actually said this about P51D and Dora: You will not have to pay for an aircraft twice. So, my understanding is this: 1. If you pay $30, you get both P51D and Dora, but only at DCS:WW2 release (late 2014). At that point, you will be able to use those two modules in DCS:World. At this level, you will not get serials for P51D and Dora for immediate use in DCS:World. 2. If you pay $65 (for DCS:W P51D) or for example the $100 level (both DCS:W planes), you will get the serials immediately for use in DCS:World. 3. If you already own P51D and plan to buy Dora from ED directly, there's no need to pledge for either of those in DCS:WW2 - you can pledge $10 and you'll be able to use P51D and Dora in DCS:WW2 as well. Now this is my personal understanding, based on Luthier's comment that all modules will be cross-compatible and that we won't have to pay for any module twice. The 'extra' perk, pledging at 'DCS tier' levels, should not be understood as 'buying a product'. You are pledging more money in order to support the development of the game, and there's an additional perk that comes with the higher pledge.
  16. I was really scared coming to ED forums today, thinking of the shitstorm that would wait here around the whole MI8 sale. Thankfully, the debate so far seems moderately civilized :) During the Huey sale issue, I was one of the 'day one' players, paying full price, and I didn't really care about the sale that much as I felt my 50 bucks were well spent. My feelings on this haven't changed: if on day one you thought the module is worth 50 bucks, then its value for you hasn't changed overnight just because ED decided to make a sale. That being said, one would think ED has learned SOMETHING during the Huey sale. Now either they didn't read any of the complaints of the fans, or they forgot about those complaints over the past couple months (vodka + short term memory = fail), or they don't care. I'm sure there will be a financial short term gain from this sale (I myself am going to pick up MI8 tomorrow), but pissing off fans like this shouldn't be on ED's menu over and over.
  17. Awesome news, Wags. One question: does this mean projects like DCS:WW2 will also have this feature, or is this feature still depending on individual module/aircraft developers?
  18. Great work. And do I see a nod at Star Citizen in the end? "See you in the skies" tehehe Indeed, the Kickstarter presentation leaves much to be desired in terms of clarity. Obviously these guys aren't a marketing team. But then again: they are a small team, and as much man power as possible should be dedicated to the development. For a small customer niche like the hardcore flight community, word of mouth within a year will do wonders. And this thread and Charly's presentation is an awesome example of what a community can do to spread the word in a clear and positive fashion.
  19. The more pertinent question would be: What exactly here should convince you to LEAVE? You've obviously made up your mind that you don't want to pledge, that the fact this is a partnership between RRG and ED means nothing to you, and that the fact the base game with 3 planes at DCS level will be free also means nothing to you. So, obviously, convincing you to pledge would be futile.
  20. From the site cminer linked to: The plane did go down after this happened, but not before they delivered their payload. Some amazing pics on that site, though... To think the pilots brought the birds home after having half the tail including the rudder blown off, or without rear stabilizers...
  21. If we don't hit 375k, I want Luthier to promise he will start working on this bird. I'll gladly pay $100 for the module if they set the price there.
  22. Yeah, ATAG guys really started something great. I'd also like to see a 200k stretch goal. Moving South England from 375k to 200k would change nothing much, just that we'd actually be able to achieve 200k while 375 is at this point (and at this rate) apparently unobtainable.
  23. Actually, the B17 could be a wonderful plane to fly if proper AI is implemented for the empty seats, so that you have a full complement crew when flying, and you just switch between seats when needed. Say you're flying on a bombing run... You fly there doing all the main piloting. You get attacked and you man the gunner stations to fight the baddies. When you ward off the attack, you get back in the pilot's seat and fly to the target. You switch seats and take the bombardier seat to deliver the payload. A long mission would be pretty boring if you'd be constantly sitting in the same seat... Gunners in turrets only have work when the plane is under attack, the bombardier actually only works for the short time of the bombing run. Also, what'd be really awesome: an opportunity to stand up from the pilot's seat and walk around the airplane unhindered, check systems, take a seat in one of the other stations etc... I guess I've been spoiled by Star Citizen's approach to multicrew vessels.
