F-18 grip, WARTHOG compatible
ishtmail replied to hegykc's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I will certainly be following this thread closely. If replacement grips (and replacement throttle handles) for TM Warthog are being made, especially if they will be Sukhoi SU27/33/35, I am here to throw money at you big time, hegykc. -
I love these kind of initiatives. I've increased my pledge (not because of this offer :) ) to $110 (122 actually, including $12 postage). http://theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5635&p=58348&viewfull=1#post58348 I already own P51D for DCS:World (so when I receive the second serial, I intend to have my own personal giveaway of one DCS:P51D module!), but I really want that Dora for DCS:World, and I also want to participate in the Alpha. So, no brainer for me.

DCS WWII: Europe 1944: Kickstarter Primer
ishtmail replied to luthier1's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Me too. That might be a connundrum for the naysayers: continue posting negative comments and making us go broke, and basically help this Kickstarter project succeed, or shut up with the negative comments and by shutting up also helping this Kickstarter project succeed :) -
Trees without collision have proven to be a problem the first day Combined Arms were introduced and I'm hoping that ED is doing something in that direction with Edge. Whatever the case, DCS: WW2 is a year away, and until then everything is WIP. I guess it's a positive thing that ideas for trees collision are brought in the open now, so developers of DCS:ww2 can implement this (if possible within the Edge engine platform).

DCS WWII: Europe 1944: Kickstarter Primer
ishtmail replied to luthier1's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Now you're just trolling. There's more people that would like this to happen and have (or will) pledged, than there is of you. Three days into the campaign and 40% of the basic goal achieved. This is happening no matter how much you'd like it to fail. -
DCS WWII: Europe 1944: Kickstarter Primer
ishtmail replied to luthier1's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
@Lost Soul, Since ED is obviously backing this project, chill down. Also, it seems the basic package (game + 3 airplanes) will be free. Or you put in $10 and get access to beta testing. That doesn't sound like that much of a gamble to me. -
Yeah, Belsimtek promised that feature already for the Huey, so this has been in the works for quite a while. But I think it's up to ED actually to implement this possibility in DCS World.

More than trees collision, I'm interested in proper multi-seat multiplayer action for airplanes that have several crew members, like the bombers. I'd love it if we could have a proper multiplayer team manning pilot seats, turrets etc.

For those that have pledged $40 or above...
ishtmail replied to ATAG_Bliss's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Great incentive. I registered at the ATAG forums and pledged $40. I intend to raise the pledge later on though... Bliss, thanks for doing this. -
Ah, the nostalgia... Loved flying low over those fjords... I had a pretty nifty setup back then, Thrustmaster F16 FLCS, F16 TQS and CH pedals... EF2000 and the first Flight Unlimited were my drug back then.

From Luthier's post: This doesn't leave much debate, does it? ED's modules P51D and FW190D are obviously a part of the bundle. It's possible that this is ED's way to support the project: by giving keys for these two modules. A bit unorthodox perhaps, but it makes sense: it's in ED's interest to have this thing happen, as well. Also, think of it this way: If we only reach 100.000 goal, there will be no additional planes. Since the $10 pledge gives you the basic 3 planes, without the two ED planes there might be a possibility that we would not get ANYTHING extra for $40. So, the $30 difference gets us both ED planes - obviously a donation from ED.

Hm, didn't see that DCS:WW2 would have Persistent Universe going, with permadeath. Still, I can't imagine life without LTI any longer :megalol:

I agree that higher pledges should have better rewards, and printed manuals are not what most people are after. In fact, I'm of the opinion that Ilya could (and should) make the basic package (3 basic planes) cost $50. That would be an amazing value package: 3 DCS-level aircraft for 50 bucks? GIMME GIMME. $80 would get you the two extra planes (P51D and FW190), while only a pledge of $100 or more would make you eligible for ALL the airplanes from the stretch goals: and the pledge could state that the pledger at this level could choose (after the campaign is over): a printed manual or the additional airplanes. So that's my opinion on how Ilya should have done it. I may end up backing according to my opinion, regardless of the fact that I might get the same value for less. I hope people will realize here that pledging for this kind of project is NOT a matter of buying the product (and therefore finding the best bargain), it should be a matter of you supporting the project as an idea. That's how I ended up pledging almost 2000 USD for Star Citizen, even though I could easily wait, play the game and earn all those ships in-game for free. It's not about buying ships (or airplanes), it's about believing in the project and wanting to support it.

Multiplayer should work in the same way as anything DCS to date. So, lots and lots of players in a (possibly buggy) multiplayer environment :) If Kickstarter supports Paypal, then no prob. I don't think it does. This is not something Mr. Ilya can choose at will: either Kickstarter supports it, or it doesn't. But if you have Paypal, you have a credit card. So why not use Kickstarter's method of payment, which goes through Amazon. I trust Amazon as much as I trust Paypal.
-
Well, I intend to pledge $40 on Wednesday, and I'll maybe upgrade at the end of the month (depending on where we are with the stretch goals). Not really interested in the physical manuals, so I'll keep my pledge level at digital only, regardless of the fact I might pledge more.
-
Oh, I just noticed that post... Sorry for my above post :) Well, Ilya should really clarify this in the Kickstarter campaign. This is pretty unclear.
-
Hold on... Where does it say that the 3 planes will be free? All I see is that the BASE SIMULATION will be free. The same as with DCS: World, which is free, but you need to buy the modules if you want to fly them. I understand it like this: If you pledge $20, you get ONE airplane. If you pledge $30, you get TWO airplanes. If you pledge $40 or more, you get ALL the airplanes from all the stretch goals. The fact it says the GAME is free, doesn't mean the FLYABLE AIRPLANES are, too. I'll ask the guy via Kickstarter, see what's what. We're shooting blanks here and there's way too much confusion, it seems. EDIT: never mind, I just found Luthier's post explaining this.
-
Yes, I would also like this clarification. As it stands now, there is some confusion. One part of the description states that at 100k funding goal we get 5 airplanes (P51D and FW190 included), in another part it states that we get 3 airplanes.

I understand. But deleting the joystick LUA files means you have to reassign all the buttons and switches on your joystick and throttle. Well, I managed to do it: once you delete the joystick LUA files, the 'throttle' option in the axis commands is back and you can assign it again.
-
So we have to reassign the controls? That's a drag...
-
Since yesterday, when I installed 1.2.6, I no longer have Throttle in the 'axis commands' under UH1H Sim controls. I had the throttle set to the Slider on my warthog throttle unit. Now the slider is set to something called 'Corrector' and the throttle doesn't work any longer. I want to control my throttle with an axis, as I always did up to this point.

They should have used DCS: P51, that would fix their realism problems ;) Although, the animations wouldn't be as attractive as the ones their animator did, what with the impossible maneuvers the guy animated that wouldn't be possible in DCS, but do look pretty cool to the average joe.
-
What would be pretty cool is if Belsimtek added a feature where airframe vibrations would translate into the Buttkicker vibrations. If you have Buttkicker installed, the visible vibrations in the sim turn off (or reduce significantly) and you only get shaken under your actual rear end.
-
Number one: Kickstarter has proven again and again that great ideas can bring people together, regardless of whether anything is actually shown or not. Just look at Oculus Rift as an example of a great idea that people thought was worth backing. The whole POINT of Kickstarter is funding IDEAS, not finished products. You fund something so that eventually the finished product can come to life. It would be pretty pointless if Kickstarter projects were finished products that people would simply sell on Kickstarter: in that case it's not Kickstarter at all, it's Ebay. As for Star Citizen: it's obvious you know nothing about it. Of course, if it were not for Chris Roberts, the Wing Commander legend, it wouldn't have the success it's boasting now. But the main part was still the IDEA: if CR came up with something stupid, his crowdfunding would be a failure. But the product he is developing is so far beyond any other similar product, with such depth, that people responded to the idea with a lot of support. I'm sad that Kinney didn't fund F35 via Kickstarter. I think they are perfectly capable delivering a convincing level of realism for the plane, even with the limited documentation available. I can however understand the lack of trust, especially from the hardcore flight sim crowd: if you're developing a DCS fidelity aircraft, people will only trust you if you have the access to documentation necessary to make it 100% realistic. This is a very specific audience that expects and demands only top tier simulations, and convincing approximation just won't cut it.

Dammit, more money I'll have to spend... There's so much DCS goodness coming that I'm head over heels over here.
