  1. Thanks Razgriz33! Didn´t know about the F5e, great news!
  2. My guess is that some few would love to see a good tank sim within DCS, and I also agree that the final frontier for DCS should be Air, Land and Sea as advertised. Are we ready for all of that? Not yet. As I see it the main issue for most dev´s today is performance, and that takes out alot of man-power resources, as well as PC performance resources in the "open world" enviorment that some games/sims are creating. It just streess the hell out of your PC, no matter how high-end is your PC, thus making it dificult to manage in a multiplayer enviorment. All this at the moment has no regard to whether it´s air, land or sea, the effect is the same, and where it is more noticeable is in MP I don´t know if this would work out but, as in other sim resource hog´s to reduce resources you literally disactivate the no fly zone´s out of your sim, or as in the case of Steel Beast you pick the area of warfare, let´s say 20 square km. so to reduce performance impact on both ends, be it solo, or multiplayer. At the moment we have the whole Caucasus map loading up on each mission we play, when most times we don´t need the whole map, and all that is included with the map. Yes I know, thats why we have Nevada as a test bed. If the performance issue is somwhat better sorted, this would eliminate alot of extra future planning and would relief 3rd party dev´s as well as DCS itself. Then maybe it would be easier/faster to develop more modules. There is alot of people who are used to fiering at AI ground objects/targets, specialy if you followed ED from it´s beginings and that´s basicaly what you do, but I do see alot of atraction with the idea that the AI object/target could be a human player, and not only a in the air human player. Regarding terrain/map, well we already have fricction contact and CA can move around some what realistic on the map, and if Dovetail´s TS 2016 can pull off friction on there stock loco´s which really suck, then I would dare say it´s not that dificult to do in DCS at the state it is. TS2016 is cool if you buy the 3rd party Pro loco´s I agree there´s alot of work to be done, but yes I would like a good tank module, as well as a good sub module like Dangerous Waters or Silent Hunter :D The satisfaction of nocking out a human player can not be paid with a Visa :D Just my 2 gears. Care, Red
  3. Are you the same person as in the RCGroups? I was just reading about the XK A600 over at the RCGroups forum :D
  4. Thank you folks for your insight and info so far  As far as I know, CCT started to develop in the Vietnam era. It was developed as a fast response action for the warfare of the time. So yes, they did use the best way to comunicate locations to CAS units be it by smoke or voice. I didnt not say laseing was/is the only way to call a 9 line. CCT (Combat Control Team) was developed at first by the USAF in conjuntion with the Army, thus Joint-Ops as we know today. Today a CCT can be from any branch of a Army, which today have each there own CCT´s. So JTAC´s, AFO, FO, or how ever each army´s want´s to call them, are all CCT´s. The reason why I only mentioned laseing is because to a newcomer laseing is more atractive for the newcomer CAS pilot. Iam not saying it´s the only way to do it. Yes we could have better binos and all that, but that´s the fun (or not :D) about discovering DCS! Your always in for a surprise :D
  5. Yes I forgot the M2000C, wasent to sure about this one yet (beta). Yeah I know you can go old school but that In a way deafets the porpose of some of the more modren airframes in DCS. It´s like, "why do I want a SSN submarine if I can´t launch TLAM´s"? Just get a diesel sub if you can only launch non-guided torps and hope for the best! Sure you can go old school as you say, with something like the F-86/Mig15 but you get this "somethings not right" when you try with a highend airframe, might as well fire tracer´s and follow that. My guess is that it´s difficult to get a balance of firepower, tech and flexbility between both opponents right now in DCS. I would also guess all this is well implemented in there military division, but not so in this PE version. It´s just part of the puzzel right now and we hope the near future brings it all together. Right now we just have "some" parts that work together, for example the K-50 is missing (yelling for a) it´s CCT the K-52, ect... I would be happy if they would fix the AI LOS and mod the damage module for now. Then it´s easyer to wait for the terrain map so we don´t rock on edges like Humpty Dumpty. CA has been in the drawer for a while now, and I think it deserves a bit of attention :music_whistling: It´s been the "black sheep" of the DCS family for some time now, cheapest module ect...
  6. I find that the JTAC part of CA is the best part, but it need´s to be tied together. From what I know and read here on the forums, we only have 1 fully capable airframe in CA for JTAC routine, which is the A-10C. Some airframes have way´s around this handicap like the K-50 and Su25T and that´s about it! So CCT, JTAC or any other way of bomb guiding in DCS is limitid to these/the airframe. If we had more airframes with capable guidenig pods and mssiles, it would make more sence to roll out CCT groups, but as it is, either you go for an A-10, or grab a torch and radio and hope to all above they see you and come in the right direction :D It´s a give or take, but it´s still half the cake.
  7. Hi Ripcord, You can check out a MP server called "Hollo Pointe" runned buy Wreckigncrew. He has two permenant sides of CA on his server. You can play coop or head-to-head. I understand what you mean by modern chess match. Most of us who play RTS wargames see it that way too. You can do the same with CA too. The only problem right now with CA regarding CMDR RTS is the AI LOS (see´s through buildings and tree lines) which can make your life a PITA when trying to play SP missions no mater what skill you set it to. If you like RTS warfare, I suggest you have a look at "Flashpoint Campaigns Red Storm" by Ontarget Simulations, or the "Combat Mission" saga like "CM Black Sea" by Battlefront. These two are among my faves, and can be real hardcore too! You can even play by e-mail like in the old day´s! FCRS is only turned base, but CMBS can be RTS or turned base so you can pick you´r poison :D Either way the CA concept is cool right now if they would only fixed the LOS issue (there are way´s around this). The future of CA could be brighter if the went the SB ProPe route but I find that (if in the roadmap) to be a long way apart from today´s CA. BTW SB is killer!
  8. Greetings folks, Iam trying to gather all the info I can regarding JTAC capibilitys for my squadron. The Idea is to get them to integrate CA with the rest of the wing´s in there MP missions and have more real player action. So, so far this is what I know... - A-10C No problem reading lase and gets JTAC code readback. - K-50 Can read lase, but armament is tweakd KH29-L and KH25-ML. Miisile must be unlock after launch in order to capture IR spectrum - Su25T I think it´s same as above. They share same system - SA342L So far, only optic and rangefinder IR. No laseing - Mi8 Haven´t checked this one out yeat - Mirage2000 I think it has leasing capabilitys but don´t know how they use it. That`s about all the unit´s that I know that "might" have leasing capibility´s and can readback/recive code´s. It would be nice to have a list ( I bet it´s not to long) of all the units that can perform a 9 ball call within DCS and which armament the use to achieve so. Some have there on way to do same, so it would be cool to know that too. Any help will be appreciated! Care, Red
  9. Being a fan as some of you above of Fleet Command and other RTS type sims/games I really didn´t get into CA as up to recently. Been with ED since the Flanker day´s. I think CA has a bit of both worlds (RTS/FPS), and that is what makes it atractive, aside from the addition of flight modules added to the overall gameplay which makes it even more interesting. Compared to other modules, you might say´s it´s not as mature, but nevertheless it´s a pice to the DCS world that offers something different. As is, I would like a better damage module that takes into account armor soft spots regarding HP, with added internal module damage. Some what as "Armored Warfare" has done on there open beta. Besides that, I don´t think you need more controles in FPV, but yes a general improvement on the CMDR side of things. Oh and almost forgot, a better map with more terrain elevation markers. (every 20mts.) The AI could do a better job Indeed. Take for example "Combat Mission Black Sea" from Battlefront, or "Flashpoint Campaigns Red Storm" from OnTarget Simulations, both have a worked AI in a RTS enviorment as a commander. In another concept but similar to CA, you also have "Steel Armor Blaze of War" from Graviteam, in which you also have both RTS and FPV. Yes, it would be great to have dedicated modules in CA, be it from eSims or not. It´s cool as it is and of course it could be better, but I would take notes as how other devs are doing things on where ED is missing first. But again, who knows in what direction they are going...
  10. Wrecking Crew, as soon as I get the grip´s with CA, and get some unit tech info down, I´ll be sure to pop by your server asap :-) I sent some friends over too! Thanks CW! Best regards, Red
  11. Hi, After getting support from DCS, a new Install of DCS to a new location did the trick for me. All works fine now. Thank you all for your kind help, and a thumbs up to DCS support too! Looking forward to trying this out! Godspeed, Red
  12. Hi, I got to repair DCS by copying the string under propities (updater) which should end in bin\, then pasted to start and added DCS_updater.exe repair, that started the repair tool, but still no joy. Care, Red I guess it´s back to Armored Warfare!
  13. Hi, Thanks for the help! Yes, I do pick the CMDR slot on your server but once inside, same as off-line nothing happens. From what I red here on the forums, in order to repair a DCS install, you have to right click the DCS updater app/icon and choose to open in a MSDos consule, then you add the string "repair" to the sentence and hit enter. Just as you would do in any MSDos situation, but that option dosen´t seem to pop-up when I right click the updater on my end/pc. I a bit stuck here...:-( Thanks again folks! Care, Red
  14. Hi, Thanks, yes I always try to click the ">" arrow on the command bar first but nothing happens. Yes as CMDR role every time I try. Regarding checking off a setting option on map, well no idea which one you mean. Thanks XC! Care, Red
  15. Hi, Thank´s WC! It dosen´t seem to work. I red the manual, and yes basicaly is what you´r saying, but still no luck. Maybe I need to put something under "condition", not sure. Here´s one on you´r server. Nice, thanks for that WC, but again no go. If I get it to work, I´ll be sure to stop by. Thanks! No matter what role I play, nothing changes in the F10 view. No command panel, all I can do is move to the F7 view. So it´s useless to use. I tried to repair DCS but if I right-click the updater, I have no option to start in MSDOS, or consul, so I cant add a string to that. I also tried to re-install but to no aveil, still the same. Don´t know what´s wrong really. Thanks again for you´r help WC! Care, Red
  16. No help really? Running latest DCS World version. Yes, it´s a paid CA version... Care, Red
  17. Hi again, I created a mission, added CMDR and some units to shoot, but still missing half the command bar... Life in a rut for me with CM. Might be doing something wrong but evereything works as far as ROE set in editor, but not the "drive" option or map management. No command bar to set actions :-( Godspeed, Red
  18. Greetings, I just bought CA 1.5 today and I can´t seem to issue orders on the map. When I select a unit the control panel pop´s up on the bottom left of the screen ("y" key), but when I hit the little arrow on the right of the panel ">", nothing shows up. Any ideas? Care, Mike
  19. Great job Aviodev! Another proud owner with you! Best regards team!
  20. For the record... 1- Install BS-1...start any mission, end mission. 2- Install DCSW. 3- Install BS-2 Upgrade...choose versión from the pulldown. Once done, you can un-install BS-1 if you like. Care, Red
  21. Hi Folks, What is the proper way to Install de BS2 Upgrade? Aim on a new PC build... I Installed DSCW, then the A-10 module, after that the BS1 standalone and then later tried to install the BS2 Upgrade but the BS2 Upgrade tells me incorrect key! All are download versions. The other question is... If I have to re-install everything again because the above is not the correct order, will I lose a A-10 installation credit, or any other credit (BS1-BS2). I wish DCS would make up there mind with all these updates cuz it´s one hell of a time downloading updates with DCSW and modules. Thanks, Care
  22. Thanks Mistermann! The first thing I Installed was DCS World, then I Installed the A-10, after that BS1 and now the BS2 upgrade. This has been the steps I have done so far... I did try a missión (well got to the helipad and nothing else) on BS1 before I Installed BS2 UG. Care, Mike
  23. Regarding the above... I now get a invalid key when I try to run the BS2 upgrade versión. Aim putting in the key that DCS gives me on the BS2 upgrade download page. Any ideas what aim doing wrong? BS1 is already installed. Thanks
  24. Copy that! Thanks Cichlidfan
  25. Thanks a bunch Cichlidfan! We are back for action...;) Err...sorry maybe I spoke to soon! The above link dosent take me to a download BS1 link. Dose that mean I only have to download the BS2 Upgrade module? Thanks again! PD: Sorry, found it....my bad! Dose it still work like before...what I mean is that once BS1 is detected for the upgrade I can then uninstall BS1 and just use BS2 (upgrade)? Care, Red
