  1. AA Guns (CAN) and MAGIC: Boresight + Vertical + Horizontal Super 530 and POL: Boresight + HUD + Horizontal
  2. It has a problem in 1.5.6 and it seems that it was fixed for 2.0.5.
  3. We are using the same tools ED used for the A-10C's LITENING POD. It is unavoidable, they are the only tools that exist in order to create a targeting pod.
  4. Yes. That is our goal.
  5. No. that is an alignment tool that I use when developing displays. It helps me put everything in its place. It won't be there upon release.
  6. Initial LITENING pod video test.
  7. HUD controls : Gun piper selector -> It selects the gun piper functionality. Whether you want to use computerized assistance or not. It is not implemented because there is not a lot of information on it. EFF switch -> No information on this one. At first we thought it was to clear target locks but there are other buttons/switches for that. VTB : Radar Map Display Select -> Something to do with the yet to be implemented radar ground modes ? Radar control panel : Radar illumination switch -> INOP in the real aircraft. Probably a switch for an older radar set. Radar contrast switch -> Very likely a signal filter control. There is no info on this and functionality is very likely no supported by DCS so not implemented. Radar gain dial -> Controls the radar antenna gain. Function not supported in DCS so not implemented. Radar doppler reject switch -> This one affects the Doppler filter. In AUTO (default) all contacts below a predetermined speed will be filtered out. In the other modes the filter speed gate is increased/decreased. I cannot change Doppler filters in DCS so not implemented. Target memory time selector switch -> It will be, but I need a little more information on this one. A/G radar A mode switch -> Either this or VAL is terrain avoidance. A/G only. The you tube video is of this mode. A/G radar DEC mode switch -> Special terrain avoidance mode. It can be used with A/A mode in order to fly in constricted space while searching and locking air targets. It will warn if terrain is too narrow. A/A + DEC only have RWS and TWS submodes so you cannot shoot radar guided weapons with this mode. I'm not sure there is terrain mapping on this one in order to avoid clutter while searching/tracking. VISU button -> MAP mode A/G mode only VAL button -> Either this or A is terrain avoidance. A/G only. There are a lot of gaps in available information regarding the RDI radar, most of the functionality of the buttons are extrapolated from different sources.

    POLICE mode

It is a bug. In POL mode all weapons are safetied so you cannot shoot anybody. Fix will be available on next update.
  9. Two days into the LITENING pod development and all I have been doing is MPCD pages. There are five of them (actually seven if you count the two service ones). Well, it seems that tomorrow will be the last day I spend with MPCD pages and their navigation, so I can go to the core of the matter: managing the LITENING pod and getting video. Here is one of the MPCD pages, the others are similar.
  10. AI behavior is ED's responsibility. They are the ones who have to implement VTOL for AI aircraft.
  11. Speaking from memory max aircraft weight for a Vertical Take Off is about 21,000 lbs, with an empty weight around 14,000 lbs that leaves you with just 7,000 lbs for pilot, fuel and ordnance. So you cannot load a lot. This is the reason why it is called a "jump" jet. On take-off you roll with nozzles at 5% and upon reaching V1 speed you put the nozzles at 45% and the aircraft "jumps" into the air. Again I'm speaking from memory, actual nozzle rotation angle values will vary.
  12. It is being used for development but it is part of the MPCD export capabilities.
  13. The water injection is used to over-rev the engine, and thus it has a limited time of use. With water injection on the engine can be over-revved up to 113% RPM while keeping temperatures within a hair's width from the redline. So, it is not only used for VTOLs but also when taking off with a heavily loaded aircraft using the "Jump" technique.
  14. As promised: The sidewinders have been enabled. Boresight mode only at this time. But now the aircraft is fully Air-to-Air capable. These images are of different tests, but they show how the STRS page works.
  15. All engine limitations that can be simulated will be simulated. Actually let me rephrase that: All aircraft limitations that can be simulated will be simulated.
  16. No. Sorry, those missile cannot be used by the N/A. The only ARM is the Sidearm and the Harpoon requires a radar.
  17. The AV-8B N/A does have data link and in an emergency it can do air intercept with AWACS support. It also has IFF capability thanks to a built-in beacon antenna that can interrogate other aircraft similarly equipped or with compatible systems. But these features do not make the AV-8B N/A a fighter, just a very capable aircraft.
  18. Yes, it will be. In fact we have a prototype defined but requires testing.
  19. Are you sure it is not the camera lens and angle that is distorting the images?
  20. About the AGM-122: The missile no longer exists because all of them have been used and no new ones have been built. They were built from old US Navy AIM-9Cs, the radar variant of the Sidewinder. The US Navy had about 700 of them and those were converted into ARM thus the name Sidearm (Sidewinder ARM). Motorola changed the SARH seeker for a new one. It was a simple system and worked like the Sidewinder: you pointed the aircraft in the threat direction and let the seeker head search and lock. Once you got lock tone you fired it. Motorola proposed a new model with improved seeker but by that time the HARM was already available so the US Navy said no. I don't think it had a specific threat seeker just a general one.
  21. Try renaming your input config file in saved games and restart DCS. Then see if you can do keybinds. If you can the it was your input profile file that is corrupted.
  22. I'll check this weekend and if a bug have it squashed by next release.
  23. What missile?
  24. Sorry to hear about that because the track is invaluable to debug the problem. Perhaps you can upload it to something like dropbox and share it.
  25. As promised the bug was found and squashed. Now the STRS page is working as intended. And look! The AA gunsight page is ready as well! Here we have the Long Range AA Gunsight (the small dashed circle) and the Short Range AA Gunsight (the big circle). The long range sight is fixed at 2,400 feet. The short range sight is fixed at 1,200 feet. Now I need to boresight them. The AIM-9 sights will be ready tomorrow. Promise!
