  1. Just use the numpad keys to adjust the view to make snapviews above the side consoles. At least that's what I did last night in the A10C with this mod installed. I'm not using headtracking at the moment though, as I haven't got my LEDs sorted out yet, so I don't know if that locks out the numpad view adjustment but if it does, I guess you could just disable headtracking, launch DCS and setup your snapviews, then close DCS and re-enable headtracking..
  2. Is that just because it has it's own thread or is there some other reason? http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=98749
  3. My UH-1H training folder in 1.2.5 is 305MB, so either the updated videos don't compress very well (if the archive is 300MB) or 1.2.5 doesn't contain the updated videos.
  4. With my (UK) Microsoft Sidewinder X4 keyboard, DCS World 1.2.5 still sees my \ key as OEM102 and my # key (to the left of the Enter key) as \ Windows and all other programs see the keys correctly, so it's specific to DCS World. This means I have to go through and find any functions that are assigned to \ or modifier+\ and add a mapping of OEM102 or modifier+OEM102, otherwise I can't use them. I have to do this every time I buy a new module and if I have to reset the profile for any reason. SPU-9 PTT is by default mapped to Ralt+\ but as DCS World doesn't recognise that key properly, until I re-map it to Ralt+OEM102 I am unable to open the Radio Menu (I don't use Easy Comms mode). If ED would just add an additional mapping using OEM102 to all the functions that use \ in the default module profiles, customers with UK keyboards wouldn't have this problem. I suppose it would be better if DCS World just recognised the keys properly, as all my other programs do but this would be a reasonable workaround.
  5. Devrim, Unfortunately it seems this is no longer compatible with 1.2.5 as with it enabled, the TV Frame is no longer visible in the KA-50 Svkval, making it impossible to lock targets!
  6. Cool, as long as you know :)
  7. Just to say I don't seem to have any problems entering the Controls setup for any of the modules after updating, without using the file USSR_Rik posted. I have a Thrustmaster Hotas X stick in case that matters.
  8. It's a good idea but for it to work it would really need the first post regularly updated, otherwise people will be posting that a mod works and when someone else comes along they won't know what version that person was using, making the information pretty useless.
  9. After playing the A-10C Tutorial "HOTAS Fundamentals", I then crashed into the ground and was unable to use Escape to exit out. All I could do was use F8 and F10 to view units/map and I had to Alt-Tab out and kill DCS.
  10. Nice one impostor71, I look forward to trying it out tomorrow :)
  11. That would be great, thanks :) My left/right turn works normally when looking straight ahead, it's just when I tilt my head forward to look down that it gets reversed, so I don't think I need to reverse the axis but at least with a known working profile I'll be able to see if it's a problem with my clip or camera positioning or not.
  12. Is no-one willing to help a comrade out by sharing their FTNoIR profile? It's really frustrating having built my tracker but being unable to use it because I don't know the right settings to use in the program :(
  13. Would anyone be kind enough to share their FTNoIR profile for DCS as I'm not having much luck getting it setup correctly? Regarding the filters, this graph http://forum.free-track.net/index.php?showtopic=3205 shows quite clearly how much IR the internal filter blocks and indeed how much both floppy disc and exposed, developed film blocks although the latter lets much more through. I understand a black filter like this (or perhaps the plastic covering IR sensors on some video/audio devices) would be most effective and let the most IR through http://peauproductions.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_11&products_id=89
  14. I haven't removed the docs and missions yet but that should free up an extra 1GB. I've been running the KA-50 and UH1H from a 10572MB RAMDisk (weird size I know, must have been aiming for 11GB and miscalculated!). I've just bought the A-10C but that's only an extra 77MB without the docs and missions so there's plenty of space for that. So the things I don't copy to the RAMdisk: Any _backup folders Bazar\Liveries\A-10A and A-10C (1.19GB, the rest of the Liveries combined are 1.12GB) DemoMods (only 330KB though!) distr (108MB) Doc (29MB) JSGME (contains all my mods but those that are installed have their files in the main game folders) loose files in the root folder (only about 10.6MB) any Mods\aircrafts\x\docs and missions (rather than try copying the missions to Saved Games\DCS, probably better and easier to just make symlinks from the RAMDisk folders to the HDD ones. I use this for doing that http://schinagl.priv.at/nt/hardlinkshellext/hardlinkshellext.html Your RAMDisk will need to be NTFS to create Symlinks on though and although NTFS RAMDisks can be a bit slower than FAT32 ones it's probably worth it for being able to create symlinks ) Perhaps if needed and not intending to use it, you could leave MissionEditor off as well but it's only 214MB. I had left mods\aircrafts\Su-25T and FW-190D9 but without docs and missions those are only 2.31MB and 47.7MB respectively, so I can fit those in easily, now I'm deleting all the docs and missions (although I still don't know what FW-190D9 is for!) That leaves 1.58GB free on the RAMDisk, so I could put the A-10 Liveries back on (I'm not sure if they're important or not), or reduce the size of the RAMDisk at around 9GB to leave more RAM free and reduce the loading times. It's probably a good idea to leave it bigger than you need to fit on any new mods you might want to use, although you can always make a bigger RAMDisk and copy the files across from the old one if that becomes necessary. I tend to have about 13.5-14GB free before I mount the RAMDisk and 3.5GB afterwards and DCS only seems to use about 2GB, despite being a 64-bit app, so I haven't had any problems with running out of RAM. I have been experienced regular audio cutouts though (not sure if the video is stuttering as well), so I'm not sure if the data is being fed too fast for it to cope or something! Regarding mods, make sure that they install their files (on the HDD before copying to the RAMDisk) overwriting the originals (using JSGME of course), rather than in addition. For example, I had Real Sound 1.2 which was originally putting it's file in Mods\Real Sound but I changed it so that now it just puts them in Sounds. As for updating the RAMDisk, I use FreeFileSync to compare the HDD and RAMDisk installs and then can quickly sync any new/changed files, such as from changing the installed mods, when the game updates, etc. EDIT: One issue I've run into is after dismounting the RAMDisk, I get a lot of HDD thrashing for several minutes. It's not the RAMdisk saving as it's fully dismounted and SoftPerfect is shutdown, so it must be Windows doing something. Maybe it moves stuff into the pagefile when I mount the RAMdisk, even though there's plenty of free RAM and then moves it back out of the pagefile into RAM when I unmount the RAMDisk, but that probably isn't what's happening as there'd be equivalent HDD thrashing when or soon after mounting the RAMDisk if that was the case, in fact probably more as HDD write speeds are slower than read I think, so it would take longer. When playing ArmA in a 11GB RAMDisk, I even found it took ages to close ArmA (and there was about 10mins of HDD thrashing afterwards), despite it running from RAMDisk and the author of SoftPerfect assures me that the RAMDisk itself will never use the pagefile, so I'm not sure what's going on. I might try disabling the pagefile completely but I recall I had problems with DCS when I tried that before.
  15. I actually tried FancyCache (certainly for ArmA, I'm not sure about DCS) and found it caused a lot of problems. I'm not sure exactly what was going on but after it had been running for a while (so I presume the cache had filled up) the game became very jerky and unplayable. Of course, even if it worked it's not going to prevent stuttering the first time you fly over somewhere as that won't be cached yet, so whilst a cache is in theory simpler in terms of setup than a RAMdisk, I wouldn't agree that they're almost as good.
  16. Yeah, I probably will get one but might still just store the RAMDisk image on there so it mounts a lot quicker than from HDD ;) I think the RAMDisk is about 6x faster than SSD but you may be right that it doesn't actually translate into any noticeable difference.
  17. Yeah, thanks I hadn't considered the docs and missions. They add up to close to 1GB and I guess I could just move the missions to Saved Games\DCS and they'll still be available.
  18. I'm using a 10.5GB RAMDisk on my 16GB system to run DCS from and found it wouldn't fit without removing some stuff. I found the Liveries\A-10A and A-10C came to about 1.2GB so I stripped those, as well as the 360MB P-51D. I'm wondering if this could cause any problems? I don't own any of those planes currently but probably will buy the Warthog in the sale. As I never fly it, I strip the mods\Su-25T folder as well. I see there's a FW-190D9 folder as well but what's that for and would it matter if I left it off the RAMDisk? I still maintain the HDD install as the main one and sync that (excluding unnecessary folders such as distr and JGSME) to the RAMDisk when I make changes, so I enable any mods with JGSME first, as in many cases they just overwrite existing files and don't particularly increase the install size. Perhaps others have got suggestions for files that aren't needed or particularly important that could be left off the RAMDisk?
  19. Because I had to delete my Saved Games\DCS folder to get it working, I played a couple of times without realising I had Central Trimmer mode deactivated. It seems some update might have made it even worse and whenever I clicked Trim, even after holding it in steady flight for several seconds, it would rock side to side before settling on an banked Trim position. Hopefully it will be OK again for me when I try with Central Trimmer mode enabled.
  20. He did share "real, credible information". He compared the files from .168 and .186 and apparently there was no difference whatsoever.
  21. Has anyone got a FTNoIR profile for DCS they could share please? I know I'll have to edit the model settings to match my model but apart from that it should work. I've built a 3 LED cap-style arrangment (actually fixed to my headphones) and although the LEDs are tracking OK, I'm having a lot of trouble using it in-game. One thing is that if I'm looking straight ahead, turning left and right works OK but if I'm looking down a bit, it's reversed so that turning my head left makes the view go right in-game, which makes it rather hard to look at the controls! Even in FTNoIR I can see this happening, so that turning left when looking straight ahead causes the Yaw to increase to about +20 but when my head is tilted down, it goes the other way, into -ve numbers. I'd be interested in some tips on how people use it as well (when it's working). For example, looking at the rear panels or those at the back on the left and right is quite easy with the mouse but with IR tracking it seems rather hard to twist one's head to get to look at those areas. Of course, when using IR tracking the mouse is disabled, so we can't use the best of both depending on what we're trying to do. Similarly, looking at the overhead panel in the UH-1H seems quite tricky, as it's not directly above the pilot but in the centre, so it involves leaning to the left and forward to position the pilot underneath it and then tilting the head back to look up at it. As I haven't got it working properly yet, I haven't actually tried it so it might not be as hard as it sounds though.
  22. DCS World/KA-50 was working fine a few days ago. Now, when KA-50 (or SU-25) finishes loading and it says Fly, I click that and nothing happens, it just locks up and I have to Ctrl-Alt-Delete and kill DCS.exe. I copied the folder to another PC and it works fine on there, so the actual files are fine. EDIT: Never mind, after deleting Saved Games\DCS it's working again now.
  23. I didn't but I'm running as an Admin with UAC disabled anyway so don't normally have to worry about such things. I did just test by running the installer as Admin and it didn't make any difference. I did the manual install as per the guide anyway and noticed what appears to be one oversight, in that it doesn't tell the user to change the path in AriesRadio.ini, copied to the TS3\plugins\AriesRadio folder, to point to the DCS World install folder, ie for me it is D:\Games\DCS World\AriesWings I haven't had a chance to test it properly yet but thanks, it looks like a great addition to DCS
  24. Hmm, after clicking Continue in the Installer nothing happens, no progress bar even. If I click on Exit it warns me that it hasn't finished installing. I tried it with and without the "Create a desktop icon" box ticked.
