BS2 1.2.x bugs and glitches thread (not CTD/BSOD)
doveman replied to Erforce's topic in Bugs and Problems
Hmm, I do have HwinfoMonitor gadget on my desktop although I'm not sure if I had HwInfo itself running at the time, in which case it doesn't display anything but perhaps still tries to update it's display. I'll try disabling the gadget and see if that helps, thanks. -
BS2 1.2.x bugs and glitches thread (not CTD/BSOD)

I don't think so, although of course some software has been updated. I'll try killing some software anyway and see if it still happens without any mods and then try with the mods again. -
Funny, mine tends to be the opposite. 34-40 fps on the ground at the airport, dropping to 21 fps when looking out the side. Flying around it's a bit more variable and seems to drop depending on whether there's a large number of objects (i.e. an airfield) in whichever direction I'm looking.

BS2 1.2.x bugs and glitches thread (not CTD/BSOD)

I'm having a very annoying problem with 1.2.6 update 2, which I call click-through, where on clicking either on the map or in the cockpit, it will swap me to the desktop, as if I'd clicked on it and sent DCS out of focus. I'm not sure how this is possible though as I'm running fullscreen! It only happens a few times each mission but it's still annoying. -
You're very very welcome :)

Yeah, I ran into this problem and informed them about it but unfortunately they didn't seem very interested in changing it. You could use a Symbolic Link from C:\User\... to the actual location of your Saved Games folder as a workaround. I find this software quite easy to use for that http://schinagl.priv.at/nt/hardlinkshellext/hardlinkshellext.html

It's no problem to rename it manually, just wanted to let you know in case it had got renamed when you uploaded it or something :)

As did I, I wasn't saying that if DICE can do it, there's no reason why ED can't, just that technically it's not an issue. For now, I'd certainly be more interested in seeing existing bugs fixed and performance increased.

Just to point out that JSGME doesn't require any special packing. Just putting the "English Cues (HUD Shkval PUI800)" folder from your archive into the JSGME folder is all that's required to be able to enable/disable it with JSGME. For some reason, this archive downloads as a .man, not .zip but I can still open it with 7-zip, so it's obviously just some naming issue.

Exactly. Even BF2 let you do that as I recall, certainly I've seen it in other games (currently there's a request for it in ArmA3 as they haven't done it in that yet).

+1. I'd like to have integrated comms and no need to mess with TS3, etc. By all means, if TARS has already done a lot of the work and can be separated from TS3 and integrated into DCSW, then ED should see if they can come to some agreement :smilewink:

Can we put mods in Saved Games\DCS yet?
doveman replied to doveman's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Sure, although I find moving Saved Games once preferable to having to disable/re-enable mods repeatedly when updating (if having mods in Saved Games actually worked that is!). I moved My Documents for the same reason, tons of programs use it as a dumping ground for their data now. -
Can we put mods in Saved Games\DCS yet?
doveman replied to doveman's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I've just relocated my Saved Games folder (using Windows Right-Click - Properties - Location) off my C: to my E: to avoid that problem. -
Quite simply, it's extremely annoying to load a mission only to find DCSW locks up on the loading screen because it was created with an older version and I have to force close DCSW and start again. To fix this, I have to load each mission in the Mission Editor and save it, which is tedious, so I'd like an automated way to do this as a batch process.

Can we put mods in Saved Games\DCS yet?
doveman replied to doveman's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Having launched DCS now, none of the mods enabled in Saved Games\DCS are actually loaded. I had headtracker enabled in there as well (puts .dll in bin and bin/headtracker) and the trackir column wasn't present in DCSW until I moved it to the install folder, so that should have been a clue. So it seems this isn't working at all, although I don't know why enabling the A10-C mods would have caused DCSW to fail to launch in that case. -

Sure but even when I have JSGME in the DCS install folder and disable the mods before updating and re-enable them after, I still should check they're still compatible. Not that I ever did unless I ran into any problems as it's too much hassle finding each thread and posting "Does this still work?" to each one. I did propose a thread which would list in a regularly updated first post which mods are recommended/compatible with the current version but obviously that would require someone with the time to keep it updated. -
Voice Assisted Commands is what I recommend for controlling the radio (and other functions) http://www.dwvac.com/

It would be great if that was the case but unfortunately it doesn't work completely. If I put my JSGME folder in Saved Games\DCS and enable a single mod, DCSW will no longer launch. If I disable the mod, it launches fine. These are the same mods that work fine in the DCS install folder. I tested with just A10C Horse of War and A10-C Bigger HUD Font and then just the latter. I did a repair on the DCS install folder as well just to check that was OK. Just enabling "Diversified Switch & Key Sounds" is OK, as is "Ricardo's Blue HD KA-50 Cockpit", so it seems some mods are OK there but others aren't but it's nothing to do with the folders they use, as Ricardo's and the A10-C mods all go in mods/aircrafts/ . I've tested now with all the mods I normally use and only those two A10C ones (which are the only A10-C mods I currently use) cause this problem and if I enable them with JSGME in the DCS install folder it launches fine. -

This downloads as Live Fire Ground.zip. I presume we just need to rename it to .miz for it to work? -
DCS World environmental shaders mod
doveman replied to Mustang's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Thanks for this Mustang, it looks great. I note however that it conflicts with PeterP's "HDR with a 'D' like Dynamic for DCS WORLD" which fixes the annoying flashing white squares with my ATI HD6950, so I have to use that. It seems it's just the hdr.fx file that both mods alter (as does your Sky and Terrain mod) so perhaps you could co-ordinate with PeterP and see if it's possible to make it so that we can use both mods together? -
I voted for this should be default for DCSW but I should qualify that by saying that I wouldn't want the F-keys method to be scrapped in the process, as that's very necessary for using voice control software with the Radio menus. Flagrum and JayPee's ideas are worth considering as well. I'm not sure if the mwheel click is already used for something but even if the current PTT key is used to open the menu, once opened the mouse could be diverted to navigate the menu until it's closed, when it returns to it's usual cockpit clicking role.
