  1. And so it begins. You can either take the Red pill, or the Blue pill. (I took the red .... "why oh why didn't i take the Blue pill") Nah, mission editor is great. It does take a bit of getting used to. It can be frustrating as all get up, but rewarding as hell when things work out how you'd like. Now the LUA stuff in ME, that's going over my head there.
  2. I'm with SharpeXB on this one. I am running a 780 (6gb) and was really considering a 4k monitor. But the reality is, is that if i got it, i couldn't run it at max graphics. So i got a 32in 2k monitor. I couldn't be happier.
  3. So far in the first 6 missions there is some soft ground targets (stationary and small boats) and slow moving aircraft (UH-60's and some A-10's)
  4. Hello guys, I've been working on a campaign for the Mig-15 for a while now. I'd like to thank everyone who has helped me out thus far with beta testing. The campaign is called "The Museum Relic" and takes place in a fictional world where this Mig-15 was rebuilt for a museum display, but then brought back out to help in combat. The campaign is complete, with 22 missions The next, and one of the last, hurdles of this campaign building process is the Voice Acting. If there is anyone interested in being a character in this campaign, please let me know. I have slots open for various controllers, pilots, ground soldiers, and resistance fighters. If you're interested in giving this a shot for me, please let me know! - Apache600 Here's the FULL introduction story:
  5. Blast, sorry! I was shooting from the hip there.
  6. Haven't tried it, but if you have a group of 10 tanks, make the 11th invisible and immortal (and hide him somewhere silly), then when "Group dead greater than 90%" do "Group Deactivate" I wonder with the one unit still alive in the group (the god like one) if clearing him would clear his dead squad mates too. My guess would be that once an unit or entire group is dead, controlling any part of them is not optional. This way you may still have a foot in the door .... dunno though
  7. Check your Axis bindings. I hooked up a joystick once and noticed it had duplicated a command for the ASP-3H sighting stuff.
  8. Quick comment about the Mig-15 in the Able Archer video. It's spawn location for the blue side (only side it's on i believe) has an issue with getting to the runway when that near building is destroyed. I got into the server late, and either there was an attack ... or a friendly fire incident at the airport, and the building to the east of the Chinooks was up in flames. Anyway, on the taxi out (the pavement looked undisturbed) but the aircraft fell into an invisible hole there. Repairing the aircraft in it's subterranean placement did nothing to alleviate it's predicament. Is there any chance the Mig-15 spawn location could be moved? Thanks! - Apache600
  9. Hello Belsimtek folks, The Mig-15 you have created is FANTASTIC. Absolutely love this thing. Years ago I had one of these, along with a Mig-17, sitting in my hangar (I use to run an FBO in Oshkosh-WI) I had to do a photo op with my Yamaha R6 and the thing http://i.imgur.com/bS7nK9a.jpg Anyway, i'm currently in the planning phases of building a control panel that will do ALL the controls for the Mig-15. In my research, i've come across a few issues. Here they are - ASP-3N Altitude Correction Axis = ASP-3N Gunsight Brightness Knob (... is that a labeling mistake?) - AChS-1 Cockpit Chronograph. None of the keyboard switches do anything. mouse clicking is the only way to activate it. Also, there is no ability to (even with the mouse) turn the left knob left or right. - Air Net Valve, - Cockpit Filling Valve, - Emergency System Filling Valve - these 3 systems all have the same issue. The keyboard does not work for manipulating any of these systems. You must first click the valve with the mouse and move it, and then the keyboard will work. HOWEVER, once you click it with the mouse and move the dial. They keyboard (whether pressing Open OR Close) only moves the valve in one direction I'm sure you guys are aware of this, but if not ... well here ya are! And i'd love it if in the future, the F-86 could have all of the clickable cockpit commands be keyboard functions too. Most of the cockpit is mouse only and no keyboard. Once that's done, I'll be building a control panel for that one too. Thanks !!! keep up the amazing work. You've got a happy customer here - Apache600
  10. Not sure if you've seen this before, but I made a checklist for the SU-25T. The things in the checklist that may help are the quick referral guides to the Weapons Panel, RWR, Fuel Panel, Enemy Threat List and so on. There's also a few pages that detail each weapon that can be carried. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=144219
  11. This site is awesome! thanks for sharing. Probably doesn't qualify as my legal weather source for pre-flights though :P doesn't mean i can't use if for supplemental situational awareness
  12. Thanks for the mission. nice intro with the music :) Unfortunately, the level crashes the game once i take off and get outside that first initial trigger zone around the airport. Wonder if it's the sound file that tries to load. That large sound file works when i hit the "play" button in ME, so .... maybe that's not it. hmmmm
  13. good god.... 65" right in front of your face. After an hour of playing, you need to give your neck a break. Thanks for all the responses so far guys! KEEP 'EM COMING! I'm starting to lean towards a 32" 2k monitor. -2k because i think i should be able to handle that with the current rig (i7 4790k, GTX 780 6gb, 16gb RAM) i.e. playing non-DCS stuff with good fps still - 32" because .... like a lot of you mention, bigger is better. And it's hard to downsize (first world problems) This current 39" is nice, but i have it set back pretty far on my desk. a 32" that would sit a little closer will have the same appearance almost, but this will be light years better as the resolution would go from the current 1680x1050 to 2560 x 1440 As much as i'd love to go bigger than 32" or more than 2k, the money just doesn't make sense to spend on it right now. At least for my current standing
  14. PLEASE POST SCREEN RESOLUTION'S TOO Hello everyone, Well, i'm in the market for a new display. I've been using a 21" (1920x1080) for years, but have now been using a 39" LED TV the past few days. (only can do 1680x1050 for it to fit the screen properly, even though the dumb thing totes 1080p) I'm wondering what some of you guys are using? I really like the larger screen, but would also like some decent resolution too. I've got a 780gt 6gb, so i won't have any trouble running anything. Just want to know what you guys are running As cool as multiple monitors would be, I'm really looking to see what the single screen guys are using. - Apache600
  15. If you haven't already, check out my checklist i made for the SU-25T http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=144219 I hope that will help once you get the basic flying skills under your belt! btw, i rarely use that HUD indication for landing. It's all about setting up a stable glide path, and then managing your speed to the airport. A lot of people (in sims and when learning to fly in real life) have the idea of a carrier landing as the way you land aircraft. I.E. nose at a high angle and dragging the aircraft in. That is not how it's done .... unless you actually are landing on a carrier and need the tail hook. Real world, pilots don't land in the first 100 ft of the runway either. We usually land 500 - 1,000 ft down the runway. So don't worry if you float down the runway a bit. ... that's why they make 'em really long :P http://web.engr.oregonstate.edu/~hunterz/other/images/pirrunway.jpg I like to keep the SU-25T at about 280kph over the numbers (very beginning of the runway) with a nose down attitude. Then, when i start seeing the runway off to the side, flare nice and slowly. That video i have at the bottom of the link with the checklist has a pretty good landing at the end of it. Feel free to give it a view! Any other questions, feel free to ask - Apache600
  16. Not only has he done all of these for DCS, but he's also done a ton for IL-2 Cliffs of Dover! You Sir = AWESOME! Thanks so much for your time and dedication, and offering this to the community.
  17. NICE! i like how it's 2x the original 1,000 you mentioned :P
  18. I don't want to hijack this thread in anyway, Still want to hear what people are using (I'm using a 21" screen @ 1920x1050) but what kind of pixels are you guys pushing out as well? Especially you ultra wide screen guys. I had a a 39in flat screen but it isn't perfectly 16:9. I would lose the image in the corners on 1920x1080. But it would fit 1650x1050 (16:10 aspect) just fine. Maybe i should just go back to that in the mean time.
  19. You're welcome guys. I appreciate all the feedback! If you see any issues with it (inaccuracies, or just plain dumb mistakes), want some things added, or what not, lemme know and i'll get some stuff changed. - Apache600
  20. I've noticed that some of the switches in the clickable cockpit for the F-86 do not exist in the key bindings. And therefor, must be clicked with the mouse (not a big fan of that) EX: "Hydraulic Pressure Gauge and Selector Switch" "Cockpit Air Pressure Control" "Air Outlet Selector Lever" "Flight Control Switch" "Longitudinal Alternate Trim Switch" ... and quite a few more Some of these seem items seem pretty important. It appears that everything in the MIG-15, that is a clickable item in the cockpit, is also able to be bound to a key, why wouldn't the F-86 be the same way? Am i missing something here? - Apache600
  21. Hey guys, Here's the mission i made that coincides with the video I put together. I hope that the custom attached sound clips work along with it. This is the first mission I've made, so go easy on me :) This is a short mission, just wanted something to quick get in, blow some stuff up, and head home. Mission length ~ 20 minutes. Attack on Team Bravo: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8D9__Jf0wgIbDZ6OC1qSzNMR2M&authuser=0 (note: to download the file, click on the "down" arrow located along the top header of the page. That will download all of the associated files into one .miz file once you have that file, you can move it to the whichever location hosts your DCS mission files) And for those that would be interested in the video (and a briefing, which is the first couple minutes) check out the link to the video here: (on this page is also a link to a handy SU-25T checklist i made, which can be downloaded too) http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=144209 Thanks guys! I hope you enjoy it - Apache600
  22. That's how you get rid of the toggle bar! Had no idea. haha. for a bit i was using zoom to get passed it, but that made the resolution a bit grainy. Thanks!
  23. Hey guys, I created a checklist for the SU-25T and thought i would share it with all of you. You can see it on my shared google docs files here https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8D9__Jf0wgIfmJGNk5TaXBqNnBFVHl6ZUpXQm1DeUVGeWFIeDc0ckFROU9zMXRPeUpMRWc&authuser=0 The top half of the first page on the checklist coincides with my control panel, so it won't pertain to keyboard users. Feel free to check out the video i made for the control panel as well. Had a lot of fun putting this thing together. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=144209 ^^^^^^^ - Apache600
  24. Well, this took A LOT longer then i ever imagined it would. Video editing is NOT easy! That being said, it makes me even more proud to finally present this video. I've been wanting to put something like this together for a really long time. Hope you guys enjoy it! Here's a google drive link to the checklist I made as well (which can be seen in the video between the Joystick and Throttle) https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8D9__Jf0wgIfmJGNk5TaXBqNnBFVHl6ZUpXQm1DeUVGeWFIeDc0ckFROU9zMXRPeUpMRWc&authuser=0 It has some of the basic checklists for different stages of flight, quick reference guides to various panels, munitions overview, Elint threat list, and airport ID's - Apache600
  25. Holy cow, thanks for the responses! Looking forward to giving this a shot when I have time in a few days. Thanks again !!!! I'll report back with the results :)
