Well either that or a really under-performing AIM-120. Yes your description of Rne is what it should be but, as you also point out, that isn't what the F/A-18 is doing. Especially when going up against powerful aircraft like the Su-27 the Rne in tail aspect is showing Rne right up or at Rmin. Call it an under tuned missile or over tuned Su-27/33 either way it doesn't seem right.
-
Well if that is the standard to go by, "no matter the target's actions", then the Rne should always be right up around Rmin since if the target turns off and converts that 20k feet into airspeed and low altitude that makes life way more difficult for the missile. Yeah modern missiles can take many more Gs then aircraft so modern day missiles being out turned isn't a thing unless the launch platform was that far off boresight and that close to the target at launch. Which, once again, would call for a static Rne right up around the Rmin to assume worst case scenario for the missile. That isn't the way the F/A-18 is doing it as of right now. Every single time I've gone up against the Su-27/33 where they convert altitude into airspeed and run the result is the same since those birds can get up and go fast the Rne shoots all the way back up close to or at Rmin. What you are looking for is more of a static Rne that only changes based on the capabilities of the aircraft you are facing. Which means with powerful aircraft like the Su-27 a Rne almost at Rmin. Yes as a cue to know when to get a high PK shot Rne in the F/A-18 is pretty useless as it is today.

That I don't know the answer to, sorry.

Sigh. Ok a few things to correct. falcon_120: The first triangle (the one at six o'clock) is NOT Raero but it is Rmax. Raero is signified by a diamond not a triangle. This is easily verified by the F/A-18 DCS manual. The triangle at 3 o'clock ish is Rmin and Rne floats in between Rmin and Rmax depending (mostly) on target altitude, airspeed, and aspect. DonBrot: The targets location on the Rmax, Rne, and Rmin matrix changes all the time. If you shot at that target in the first picture and it continued on course then yes it wouldn't be able to escape. As soon as the target goes defensive you will see a massive change in the matrix based on aspect alone. If the target also changes altitude and speed as well then even more so. The display shows you were you are at at that moment specifically taking into account both you and the targets altitude, airspeed, and aspect to each other. Change the data you change the display. Those computers cannot predict what both people do it can only show you what it knows at that instant. As to why there is a discrepancy in data between the two aircraft that I cannot speak to. Other than to suggest it might be because you are comparing a higher fidelity model to one not as high fidelity?

Which wouldn't make sense in a CCIP modded F-16 which is what is being simulated here. ALE-47 and ALR-56M work together.

Never mind you are talking about transferring coordinates to the weapon which is a GPS guided weapons procedure but then talking about a GBU-12 which is NOT a GPS guided weapon but a laser guided one. Me thinks you are more than a little confused on procedure here.

Yeah took me a bit to find a video showing a GE motor nozzle move as well. Most vids either showed it already closed and opening going to AB for ground runs or were Pratt motors.
-
Yeah pickled motor start isn't exactly the norm. :) Good example of a brief sec check and the lack of nozzle noise as well though.

Yes I know this subject has come up before but the ones I see all talk about it being fixed and it certainly isn't for MP. I have been playing on stable side multi player Persian Gulf map slmod for capture the bases server. This problem is incredibly easy to duplicate. Load up some mavs and either fly and land with them or just do another re load while still on the ground with the new load out also containing mavs. After taking off post re load the first mav will behave normally. The second will, just like reported before, show a black screen just like the cool down screen after first turn on but without the displayed timer. Once the invisible timer counts down then the mav will work as advertised. If you expend or jettison all of the mavs then re-load mavs again it works just fine as it should.

Exactly correct bbrz. Give up on that thought now Nightstalkernor as the GE motor doesn't create that sound at all when the nozzle moves. Only the P&W motors do and this module is GE motor driven. Here is a video showing a GE powered F-16 with the nozzles closing without the distinct P&W nozzle sound. If the time doesn't pop up go to about 2:30 in the video which is right before throttle up.

Since the last update I cant launch Mavericks at all
Stubbies2003 replied to Fisherman82's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
I launch Mav Fs all the time from my Hornet. Works just fine. -
Wow this one got all sorts of salty on page 2. So for anyone wanting the TL : DR just don't go hard over in either direction in NWS Hi and you'll be fine.
-
As I stated in my re-test post I can duplicate this when hardly moving at all. I already don't have issues with it since I already knew the counter for the issue. I was simply reporting the issue.
-
I could see it slipping or dragging if the issue was too much speed and too much turn but as stated I can duplicate this at VERY low speeds. Deano87 is probably on to it as I had already known that putting in about 2/3rds or 3/4ths of rudder instead of full eliminates this problem completely. Nope haven't done the F2 view for that.
-
So I went ahead and re-tested this just to verify it wasn't a taxi speed issue. It isn't. On land or at sea only in NWS Hi I can duplicate this issue and I can duplicate it at VERY low speeds. Like 1-2 knots worth at best. Obviously due to that low speed the effect isn't as fast or as great but it does it consistently.
-
Posting this here as well since the link from the manual took me to the Belsimtek forum and I am seeing some issues being posted here. Okay I've gone through the manual and haven't seen any talk of this problem I've noticed in the F-18. I have a Thrustmaster Warthog setup and I have the rudder set to the slider on the throttle. During normal NWS steering the aircraft behaves normally. However if I enable NWS Hi and am either hard over left or right on the rudder the aircraft will start to steer in the correct direction, then slow down to a straight path then REVERSE the turn to the opposite direction of the input. This happens with wings unfolded on land during taxi and with wings folded on a carrier deck. Through testing I have found that if I limit the rudder input to roughly 2/3rds or perhaps 3/4ths of what the slider can go to then NWS Hi works just fine.

Well it definitely isn't just an IE works thing as IE is NOT working for me with the exact same kind of cyclical issue which is maddening. I can place the items in the cart, then go to the cart then suddenly it thinks I'm not logged in. Log in the information again and the stupid thing goes back to the last screen I was at. I click on the cart then suddenly I am not logged in again and cannot do anything to move forward. I can keep that cycle going all day long without getting anywhere. Update: Just to test whether going the opposite direction would work for me I brought up Chrome and then suddenly the DCS web site processed the order just fine. Note to DCS: You have website ordering issues of some type.

Got my covers in as well, look and fit is great. Thanks Deadman. :)

Nope, not posted in the thread. Hackers try to take advatage of any standard human behaviour they can try to predict. The only bit of information they could guess off of that was my e-mail account. I am security cautious enough that even guessing that won't help them out any farthur.
-
And guys this is not about deadman himself. I completed my order today. I am talking about anyone can get on to these forums and try to mine for data to get free money. They obviously tried to use the fact that I was going to be purchasing something from deadman to make a hacked paypal account. Definitely complete your orders with deadman. I'm just saying they tried to mine data to get free money from me (or a free cover set from deadman), so they can try with anyone else that is placing an order. Just be on your guard.
-
Also just to be on the alert, some chinese a-holes decided to try and start a fraudulent paypal account using my e-mail address right after I posted my intent to buy. Figuring I haven't used paypal in more than a decade prior to this and NEVER set up an account with my current e-mail address there is basically no way that they aren't watching this forum and trying to hack their way into more money. So everyone that showed interest should be on guard. I notified paypal of the bogus account and thankfully I have another e-mail that these butt nuggets don't know about so I can still get my covers and they can ride the big high hard one. NO FREE MONEY FOR JOO HACKERS.

I blame Dastardly on this one. I'll take one with "Stubbies" as the callsign, no quotes obviously. Oh yeah and Dastardly's callsign needs a change. He knows what it REALLY needs to say. :)
