You'll have to ask General Dynamics.

How about we let them get the basic functionality of the jet working prior to worrying about that?

Emmy meant to say TWS. :)

[WORKS] Does the Tacan work or is broken in the F18?
Stubbies2003 replied to Crunchy's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
My experience in MP with the 18 TACAN is very intermittent. I've dialed in a carrier and had all the data and start moving in to position for landing just to have it stop working at all when I was 2 miles trail to the carrier. -
It's not broken now nor has it been since I've flown the 18. Best check your setup and procedures.

How well can I control the Hornet with a UFC, ODU and two MFDs?
Stubbies2003 replied to FSFIan's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Normally I put the SA page onto the AMPCD and the only time I have to mess with it is on start up or in a new aircraft. A set it and forget it display for me. I don't extract displays but use VR so have no thoughts on extracted stuff. The main inputs I use are the two top MFDs which I have set to my TM MFDs and to a lesser extent the UFC which I just use the left VR hand controller to change things there. -
Adding Trailing Edge Flaps, with or without gear
Stubbies2003 replied to Tchalla's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Well asymmetry brakes "should" handle that for you automatically if it is a really bad malfunction but yeah if something happens to the LE Flaps best to lock them out and just deal with whatever position they are in less it gets worse. -
You won't get carets for speed or altitude unless you are in a cruise mode and I doubt those are installed yet. Works much like FPAS on the 18. As others have stated it is up to the pilot to manage altitude for normal waypoint movement.

[LATER IN EARLY ACCESS] Centerline droptank?
Stubbies2003 replied to Hummingbird's topic in Wish List
Not quite true. True that you will hardly ever see it anywhere but station 5 but it can be mounted and used on stations 3 & 7 as well. -
Adding Trailing Edge Flaps, with or without gear
Stubbies2003 replied to Tchalla's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Flight Control Panel (back left) Alt Flaps switch to Extend. Landing Gear failure to extend for whatever reason to assure you are getting the flaps down for lower stall speed in case you have to land with gear up. -
Yeah F/A-18 has suffered with this problem for awhile now. Any time I refuel with a centerline tank on that aircraft it never fills more than 800-1000 pounds of fuel. Thus any time I fly the centerline I punch it off when the centerline is empty to reduce drag and a bit of weight. This forces the new tank on after refueling and gets around the problem as well. Unfortunately until S-J is programmed into the 16 this isn't as nice of a solution as it is on the 18. Odd part about this issue is it isn't consistent among players. I have a buddy who flies the F/A-18 as well and never sees this problem.

Mine it totally vanishes as if I had manually selected a TACAN channel not in use. Heading inidicator spinning which is correct for no track/searching and no TACAN data in HUD or HSI.
-
Got to see it again today in MP. I had the TACAN dialed in on the UFC, HSI on the left DDI, TCN boxed on the DDI and was 2-3 NM aft of the carrier turning in for landing and the signal just up and disappeared.

Haven't tried a roll or yaw input with HSel on so cannot say myself. Well HOTAS or a configuration issue with the HOTAS would seem logical.

[NO BUG]CCIP with CBU 97s and mk 82s (so far) does not work
Stubbies2003 replied to bcl816's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
If you press and hold the release button with that horizontal bar in place you are switched from CCIP to CCRP. That is what I think is confusing some people as the F-16 does this automatically and they think they were dropping in CCIP when, in fact, if done via the horizontal bar and weapons release hold that is a CCRP drop. -
There is no reason to ever use the speed brake on a carrier landing.
-
Well I wouldn't say it has to be a dead zone issue as even when HSel is active I can add in input pitch down to adjust my attitude to maintain airspeed without disabling HSel. If I enter too large of an input yes it will break out of AP but unless that is a really bad pot on the HOTAS I wouldn't limit it to just that.

[CAN NOT REPRODUCE]Can only fire one 9x
Stubbies2003 replied to Kim Jong-un's topic in Bugs and Problems
Well I've never loaded more than the basic 2 9X but I've never had a problem shooting multiple 9X and definitely haven't seen a "silent seeker" after firing the first one. Matter of fact it isn't unusual for my second 9X to be able to lock onto the exhaust of the first 9X that is away. Only problem I've seen with missiles is the occasional one that goes stupid off the rail immediately AKA never even attempts to track it's target. They just wander off to never never land. Have seen that with both AMRAAM and 9X so not sure if it is a default xx percentage of things you carry are going to fail or what the issue is. -
Odd as I use HSel AP all the time in the 18 without issue. I haven't combined it with any other modes just HSel by itself so I'm never at a set altitude but normally am anywhere from slightly nose high above the artificial horizon to 15 degrees nose up.

[NO BUG]CCIP with CBU 97s and mk 82s (so far) does not work
Stubbies2003 replied to bcl816's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
What you are probably doing is CCIP to CCRP mode not pure CCIP. The easy way to tell is if you press the weapons release and then have to hold it until the aircraft gets to the actual drop spot? That isn't CCIP. That is the aircraft automatically switching to CCRP to make it work. -
[NO BUG]CCIP with CBU 97s and mk 82s (so far) does not work
Stubbies2003 replied to bcl816's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Probably so. I was flying the F-16 exclusively with CBU-97s as a bomb truck with all drops in pure CCIP pre patch and it worked fine for the most part. Occasionally I would have one not work probably due to the BA but most worked just fine. First time I got in the 16 and tried the 97 post patch I noticed this issue. It will release as a CCIP to CCRP transfer just fine but it won't do pure CCIP. Had a friend say other iron bombs and the 87 worked fine in CCIP and he only saw the issue with the 97 but I have only flown with the 97 so cannot verify. -
[NO BUG]CCIP with CBU 97s and mk 82s (so far) does not work
Stubbies2003 replied to bcl816's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
I didn't post on this one earlier as I've only done MP thus no tracks but I noticed this with the 97 from the patch. Prior to the patch I could drop 97s in a pure CCIP mode with enough of a dive angle and speed applied. As you corrected dive angle and speed the cross line got closer to the pipper until it dissapeared entirely to show that you were seeing the actual impact point. True CCIP. After the patch it is literally impossible to get it to drop in pure CCIP as stated above the cross line NEVER gets down to the pipper to show that you are seeing the actual impact point. -
As others have stated the speed brakes work just fine on the aircraft. I also use a TM WH and have zero issues with the speed brake working. This is more like you failing to know the ins and outs of the F/A-18C. It won't retract the speed brake simply due to landing gear down. It WILL retract when you take flaps out of auto though. It can still be used with flaps in full but you must hold the switch to extend position to extend the speed brakes and to keep it extended. The F/A-18C isn't an A-10C and if you set up for landing correctly the speed brake isn't used until after landing to help with scrubbing more speed off. After WoW the speed brake will stay extended without requiring the switch hold. Even if you are close and fast as pointed out you can go idle and scrub speed via sharp S turns. If you are too close and too fast and you STILL commit to landing then you will have to hold the switch to keep it out.

I've seen this. I've seen TCN not work for some carriers randomly in MP and some work fine and have had all carriers work fine. The latest test I've been doing is to make sure to have the frequency dialed in prior to turning on the receiver or when changing carriers to shut off TCN then clear and change frequency then turn it back on. Has worked well so far but not nearly enough testing done to call it a work around.
