Desk mount for VKB Gunfighter Pro MCG and Warthog Throttle
ExGreyFox replied to ExGreyFox's topic in Home Cockpits
Hit top of the mount? I don't follow. I figured the setup will match this guy's: It looks to me that there is plenty of clearance between the top of the mount and the stick. Another good example of what I'm trying to replicate: -
Good to know. Thank you. Ready to get this bad boy on order along with the MFG Crosswinds. Just got 2 Virpil Desk Mounts along with the TMW Throttle plate on order. I think there is someone around here on the forum who makes and sells the Gunfighter Mk.II base plate to fit the Virpil Desk Mount.

I see, so you staggered #50 and #20 springs for each axis? i.e. you have 2 different springs both on the same cam?
-
Is this typically the best config for using the extender? I am guessing I should change out the springs/cams for the extender as the first thing right out of the box before I plug it in to calibrate correct?
-
I'm jealous bro. Did you switch out the cams and springs to compensate for the extender?
-
I CANNOT wait to get my hands on a Gunfighter Mk.II Pro MCG Pro with the extender.

Desk mount for VKB Gunfighter Pro MCG and Warthog Throttle
ExGreyFox posted a topic in Home Cockpits
Hello pilots, In a nutshell, I want to get my Warthog throttle, and my yet to purchase MCG Gunfighter Pro stick both on desk mounts. I am in the process of acquiring the VKB Gunfighter pro MCG (long stick version) along with MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals. I already own the HOTAS Warthog. I need a desk mount for the MCG stick and preferably one for the Warthog Throttle as-well. So far I have found a what seems to be a low cost solution for the stick. Its the Virpil desk mount found here: https://virpil.com/en/shop/accessories/vpc-desk-mount-vpc Seems like all I would need to do is grab 2 of the Virpil desk mounts along with the TMW Mounting Throttle plate and should be set?? So far I have not been able to come across anything comparable to this for relatively the same price. Will this work? Thoughts? -
Anyone have rrhode's e-mail address?

Any news on the availability vkb products

Ugh! Sold out! -
I've been trying to get my hands on one for a while now on a Gunfighter Mk.II tabletop with MCG PRO. Website says that they will be back in stock September 2018. Any way to pre-order one or do I just wait for them to become available and then order? I live in the US.

Hey guys, I'm back. I meant to share my benchmark results sooner than this but didn't get the chance. Here is what I'm getting in Cinebench, Firestrike, and Samsung Magician with the system all at stock speeds. Comparing my system to other similar systems at stock this looks comparable. Id love to get your input

Oh crap I didn't know that. Thanks for the heads up!

I've been real happy with CPU temps so far. I'm not breaking 60C while gaming at all in the case. But I still have the case door open while waiting for nice braided PSU cables to arrive today so I'm sure it'll jump a little after I button it all up nicely.

Hah yeah I should have said 3 monitor portrait surround :)

Hello guys and girls, I am happy to report that so far everything has gone smoothly. I built the system externally on the bench first outside the case and installed windows 10. Initially the UEFI BIOS did not pick up my DDR4 RAM timings and speed but after loading XMP profile, it sits nicely at 3200MHz 15-15-15-35. One thing I was unsure of is how much to tighten the Kraken x62 water pump onto the 8700k. I put it on firmly but did not get too crazy with it. So far my temps outside the case do not break 50c. (I am assuming that once it goes in the case that I should probably see higher temps) Next I ran a few benchmarks like Firestrike, and Cinebench R15 (I don't have the screenshots to share the results at the moment as I am away from home but will as soon as I return). I was very happy with the results but I would barely see my CPU speeds on the 8700k hit anywhere near the 4.7GHz turbo mark. Most I would see is about 4.1GHz and no more. I decided to take the plunge and update the BIOS on my Maximus X Formula. I noticed that the BIOS version on the mobo was the oldest version ever released for this model and that there were several releases past that one all with "Improved performance and stability" in their release notes. I went into UEFI and simply went to "Update BIOS via Internet" I just said what the hell, lets see what happens. It all went smoothly. I re-ran my benchmarks again after the BIOS update and noticed a significant improvement from the previous run with the oldest BIOS loaded. I also noticed my CPU speed hit 4.7 GHz for multiple durations of time. I am very happy with this :) Now as far as my AIO Kraken x62 is concerned, I did hear some very slight and benign gurgling of the cooling fluid but it seems to have settled and completely disappeared after about a day or so. The temps on my 8700k at stock speeds hit about 35-40c while playing DCS but this is also keeping in my that the mobo is still sitting in open air outside the case so I assume temps will be higher one I get it all buttoned up. I can not even hear the water pump which is a bit concerning but after I looked at the CPU temp/Pump RPM curve, I was not hitting CPU temps anywhere near what would cause the pump to go into full blast. In DCS at 3240x1920 on 3 monitor portrait surround, I have all detail settings on the highest possible level with 2x AA and 4x AF and I am averaging 60fps over Las Vegas. It will dip to about 50fps at times but not for too long. I do plan on overclocking the 8700k to hit 5 GHz in a few months but for now I think Im just going to exercise it at stock. I will share my Samsung Magic M.S SSD scores as well Firestrike and Cinebench and would love to get your thoughts on how my system stacks up at stock speeds. In the mean time I ill leave you with some photos :) As always, I appreciate all of the time and energy from you guys in helping me put this machine together :)

Thank you brother!

I just wanna make sure I do the right thing.

Ok got it, So I need to make sure I go to the CSM setting in UEFI bios and change it to disabled if it defaults to enabled? Then Ill just use the windows creation tool then and make a windows 10 USB stick. Then just go in BIOS and boot from USB.
-
I see, so basically I need I need to go with the UEFI installation route for better boot times and hardware support. So to sum it up I need to acquire a Windows 10 ISO via the Windows media creation tool and then use Rufus to create the windows 10 USB stick? Now after this point, how do I proceed with the UEFI Windows 10 installation? Do I still need to mess with the CSM bios setting?

Hey guys, so I have this build arriving in the mail in a few days and I'm already stressed Just to refresh what I bought: CPU: Core i7-8700K RAM: G.Skill TridentZ RGB 32GB MOBO: ASUS ROG MAXIMUS X FORMULA GFX: GTX 980Ti for now (Re-Using my existing GPU until 1180 comes out) Cooler: NZXT Kraken x62 Storage: Samsung 970EVo NVMe M.2 500GB (OS) + Samsung 970EVo NVMe M.2 1TB (Games) PSU: Corsair AX1200i 1200 Watt (Re-using Old existing PSU) OS: Windows 10 Home 64-bit I am trying to learn the steps on how to install Windows 10 on one the 500GB 970Evo NVMe M.2 and I'm coming across a lot of new terminology and BIOS options I have never seen before. Can someone clarify what is the best way to get Windows 10 on that drive in the best most practical way? I am seeing people creating UEFI compatible windows 10 USB sticks using something called Rufus, others are changing BIOS options under CSM. I am lost. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Haha hey! I'm a formula guy by nature. Its more of an emotional thing for me. Been with em since 2008 Btw, found these nice CL15 2x16GB kits. Im enjoying the breathing room with RAM selection and intel :smilewink: F4-3200C15D-32GTZR

So I've totally done a 180. Decided I need raw power at stock right out of the box. Here is what I'm going with. CPU: Core i7-8700K RAM: G.Skill TridentZ RGB 32GB MOBO: ASUS ROG MAXIMUS X FORMULA GFX: GTX 980Ti for now (Re-Using my existing GPU until 1180 comes out) Cooler: NZXT Kraken x62 Storage: Samsung 970EVo NVMe M.2 500GB (OS) + Samsung 970EVo NVMe M.2 1TB (Games) PSU: Corsair AX1200i 1200 Watt (Re-using Old existing PSU) OS: Windows 10 Home 64-bit Pilotasso and BitMaster please dont hate me.

I'm glad I found this thread right before I was about to pull the trigger on a 2700X. Now I'm not so sure anymore. I feel like I am torn between a 8700k and the Ryzen 7 2700x. I am not looking to overclock the CPU anytime soon as I usually don't for the first few months after making a new build. Correct me if I'm wrong but from what I have read here, if I am someone who is looking for best performance out of the box in DCS, the 8700k is the CPU of choice when compared to the 2700x. Yes?
-
Thats just the thing. There are no true 32GB kits from G.SKill TridentZ RGB line on the QVL for the ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR VII HERO. Not gonna lie, RAM compatibility this go round is throwing me for a loop. I appreciate you guys. I'm just going to go with what you guys suggested a few posts back which is the F4-3200C14Q-32GTZR (4x8GB) kit and call it a day. I'm going to go off on a limb here but I am ASSUMING that I should see a marginal performance boost on 3 monitor surround at 3240x1920 going from my existing rig to what I am planning to build. This is basically the whole point of this exercise. Let me know what you guys think.

Hi guys, in looking through the QVL for the CROSSHAIR VII HERO I did notice that there is a supported 2x8GB kit that runs at 3466MHz. Namely the F4-3466C16D-16GSXW. Is it a simple matter of me buying two of those kits and making a 4x8GB set and getting away with nice fast 3466 RAM? Or is this not possible due to the single sided/double sided RAM (still unclear on this aspect and have yet to verse myself in it) ?
