  1. well, many of us are thinking DCS is THE new high quality flight-SIM. everyone wants to do as realistic as possible, so why not do a "flighttraining" as real as possible. and i do not mean the short introduction-lessons given in some modules. some of us are RL pilots but i beleive most of us not. just have a look on public servers. especially freeflight servers. guys are doing weired things just because they dont know the basics. wouldnt it be awsome if (the willing one) could do a basic flying training as in real life? i know DCS is for now not really the best to train procedures and ifr or at least atc. but if we now get with DCS 2.0 more and more scenery, also from 3rd parties (hopefully soon ;-) ) there will be more players from FSX/XP10 who would convert to DCS. its not all about shooting others down, as i for example am very often on freeflight servers just for fun. and you do not have to be frightened for been shot down by a crazy 13 year old boy who just found out how to deploy bombs/missiles in his FC3-F15. i am a RL pilot with ATPL and also on a bell 212 and i sometimes use XPlane for some flights and/or IFR training. but i rather would do this in dcs. i beleive there would be a huge demand for simmers to fly in this nice environment with civil planes or at least planes which could be used for both. just have a look in the user files download section from DCS homepage. there are many civil skins to download. so i think people like civil stuff :smilewink: and once again, if some just want exclusively doing combat, then just dont buy them modules or go to servers where you can do this. i would say im 70% freeflying/formations/training and 30% doing combat. also those modules are nearly already made from other softwarecompanies. a module for XP10 or FSX is about 30-40 $. thats ok i think... so maybe it would be not such a big deal to convert something like this to DCS (but i really have no idea if its possible, im no programmer) just my 2 cents... ;)
  2. And it would be the first DCS aircraft controlled with a yoke, so I would finally have a reason to buy the saitek cessna-yoke :D :joystick: :pilotfly:
  3. ...we already had this discussion here ->http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=108549 But hell yeah, give us some cessnas. At least some L-19 Bird Dog or Skymaster. Nearly every RL flightschool (also military) uses a 150/152/172... Why cant we have one in DCS? maybe theres a chance to get a "flightschool module". No real fighterpilot starts in a hawk or mustang ;-) There are many nice high quality models out there for other sims like those from carenado. Im no programmer, but wouldnt it be possible to build them also for DCS? Example: And for those guys which dont like the idea of cessnas in DCS, dont buy it ;) But I beleive there would be a good market for this....
  4. Please excuse my English and explains... With rotary without stop I mean you can turn and turn and turn and turn and turn...... -> no mechanical stop. Correct, helios is/was not my problem. But I just wanted to explain what I already have tried. So you mean with those kind of rotaries you linked it should be possible? OK, I will try to get some here in Austria and will try my best. Will DCS recognize it as joystick-axis or as button-input? Many thanks for help so far, Anton! And all of you guys! Love this forum... :)
  5. Hey Guys, Sorry for late reply... Work... OK, first of all, I do not want to use helios again. So there should be an solution without it. (if possible) All I want is to build a rotary where turning right is "+" and turning left is "-". I already tried (with helios, long time ago) some rotaries with no stop. But they were acting as a joystick in windows and when I made one full revolution (on the rotary-knob) and I was at max (100%), it suddenly jumped back to zero. Imagine: you turn the heading bug from 0 to 30 degrees with one full turn of the knob, and instead of turning further to 31 degrees, it jumped back to zero instead of 31 degrees and more. Omg, I understand if you are all confused now ;-) Please just tell me what type of hardware I need to make the heading bug and similar to work as it should. I would like to use it in DCS a10c and for heading and cdi and my planes in x-plane 10 for the same + altitudeselector. I think the easiest would be to act like a mousewheel, but every other solution would be also fine. And if there would be some software tweaking, please show me step by step, cause im no programmer/coder. Using Lb is no problem for me, I already installed a original Bell 204 pitch with all working rotaries :-)
  6. thanks for help so far... i already use some leo bodnars panels (BU0836X) and have already connected potis and rotaries. and i already tried 360° rotaries without stop together with helios, but it reacts like a joystick-input and when i reached 99% (359°) it suddenly jumps to 0-position back... (i hope you know what i mean) and it would be perfect to not use helios therefore. when i was in flightschool and on rating, we also had those ("cheaper") FNPT II-sims, which are better home-pits. and there were also some little rotaries for headingbug, cdi, alt and so on... so i am just curios, but there must be an easy solution for this to use it for DCS and XP10. yeah, like Bushmanni said, maybe something like a mousewheel would be perfect. for example right-turns are incrementing heading bug. so every little twist is a "do-command" like a switch?! thanks
  7. Hi! As above, which rotary controllers should I use for example a heading bug. E.g. twist left -> heading bug decrease, twist right -> heading increase. How are those rotary controller called or what type do I have to search for? Many thanks in advance!
  8. Hey Guys! I use four 27" 1920x1080 monitors. 3 of them are the same (left/top/right), the lower middle touchscreen is physically wider. but also 1920x1080 So i'm having a misalignment with the other three screens... look here: my view in front of the screens / screenshot view: windows setting / softTh setting: Is there a chance to get this corrected by software? Well... its not that bad... but not perfect. and i know that if i would "shrink" the wideness from the lower middle monitor it would visually overlap a bit with the two outer screens... any help is appreciated!
  9. YEAHH!!! got my Gigabyte GTX 970 today... awsome! everything works fine, just perfect! thanks for all your help guys!
  10. SoftTH is coming in vers 3.0 (http://www.softth.net) developer is comunicating on his Facebook fanpage. Release should be soon, so hope dies last regarding DCS 2.0 and SoftTH. Yeah, sounds like a waste of energy. But I dont use it anymore and if it would be possible to connect a 5th monitor... why not ;)
  11. Hi SkateZilla! Thanks for input! I also use both miniDP and DVI/Hdmi on my current 7970. Tearing is no problem for me, i use SoftTh and have set the outer monitors to a max of 30 fps, so no tearing at all even on mainmonitor... I hope DCS 2.0 will be compatible with softth, very usefull tool. could someone please confirm that (when i have my new 970) i can use my old 295 to connect a 5th monitor with the same driver installed as for the 970? just curious...
  12. Thank you all for your help. I made my decision, gigabyte gtx 970 G1 :)
  13. Aha... now im confused.... OK, I found out that gigabyte has more connectors. But whats the difference between Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 WindForce 3X, 4GB GDDR5, 2x DVI, HDMI, 3x DisplayPort (GV-N970WF3OC-4GD) ab €337,63 and Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 Gaming G1, 4GB GDDR5, 2x DVI, HDMI, 3x DisplayPort (GV-N970G1 GAMING-4GD) ab €356,78 or Zotac GeForce GTX 970 AMP! Extreme Edition, 4GB GDDR5, DVI, HDMI, 3x DisplayPort (ZT-90103-10P) ab €398,98 Please help, I just want a reasonable nvidia card for my 4 monitors...
  14. Ok, thanks! Found it on amazon for 355,- pre-order. But it has "only" four connectors?! From description: 1x Dual-link DVI-I, 1x Dual-link DVI-D, 1x HDMI, 1x DisplayPort On my 7970 I can not use DVI-I + DVI-D together... Could someone please confirm that I can use ALL 4 simultaneously...?!? If yes, I will pre-order.
  15. Thank you BitMaster! That was a very insightful and fast reply, thank you! The 970 4G unfortunately is nowhere in stock, but the price would be ok. just to be sure, i can use all 4 connectors to use 4 monitors at the same time (for DCS) and of course i would only use 2 cards from the same manufacturer... but i dont understand how to install 2 drivers, or do i just have to install one for the newer card? or is it irrelevant if they are just from the same manufaturer?
  16. Hey Guys! I'm using currently a XFX 7970 Blackedition which operates 4 Monitors (1xHDMI, 1xDVI, 2xmini Displayport). Is there any similar or newer/better nVidia-card which can handle 4 Monitors? because i would like to use a nVidia card for DCS and use my old 7970 for my second pc... And second question regarding SoftTh: I am succesfully using SoftTh. On the Homepage from SoftTh i read: ..."You need three monitors attached to PCI Express video cards. Only one card does all the rendering work, so secondary card can be a low end card, only Direct3D support is required." Does this mean i can use a "new" nVidia Graphiccard and can connect my old GTX 295 and connect Monitors as well on it? Thanks and sorry for stupid questions :music_whistling:
  17. +1 for civ. Aircraft (AI and flyable!) My hope is with DCS 2 and EDGE with the coming SDK for third parties like Carenado which already have high quality models and "just" have to transform them into DCS. (if this is possible - i'm no programmer :smilewink: ) Hope dies last... so i'm still hoping for Cessna Caravan, KingAir 200,... at least in military version. And maybe a "simple" (but good looking) whole-world-map like in X-Plane with the possibility to install add ons like Caucasus, NTTR and so on... ... just dreamin' :pilotfly:
  18. ok... it worked. but i do not really understand yet. what i did so far: i did copy and paste your lines which fitted for me and deleted the original lines. its working. but what are all those numbers? (in orange) For example: {down = 3002, up = 3002, cockpit_device_id = 1, value_down = 1, value_up = 0, name = "Inverter STBY", category = "Electrical power control panel"}, I guess 1 and 0 are switch-positions (1=on, 0=off) but the others? Fantasynumbers to make every switch unique? But thank you very much my friend!
  19. Hi HMA! Will give it a try as soon I have time - busy now :( Thanks!!
  20. Thanks for reply and help! HMA sounds good, im interested in your file... standing by ;) I want to avoid Helios any further, because of some rumours it could not be working anymore with DCS 2.0, it was killing some FPS and i want to have as less programs running as possible. So for me this would be the best solution. But yeah, with Helios it was very easy to set up the Switches, i know...
  21. OMG, this looks very complicated!!! Anyway, thanks for help so far... I have no idea how this should work but I will give it a try
  22. Well, I think i'm not the only one who is using his DCS setup for other Sims as well and I wanted to avoid to register in another forum... Nevertheless, maybe there's some little help here?
  23. Hey Guys! Since i don't use Helios anymore, i can not set my Switches on various Panels which are using Leo Bodnar's Joystickboard (BU0836X) from "ON" to "OFF"... Is it possible to create a input.lua or something similar which defines "unpressed Button X = OFF" and "pressed Button X = ON" I have no idea if this is possible or can work, maybe you guys?!? Otherwise i have to connect all off-positions on my panel to the controllerboard as "pressed/input"... :D:joystick::D:thumbup: Example: for now, when i press APU GEN PWR "On" i have to unswitch and switch it again to get it to "Off". With Helios i could manage it to do "On" and "Off" as it should...
  24. Hey Guys! Are any of you using FSX and can help me? (i know this is DCS forum... :music_whistling: ) My Problem: For DCS (my Main-Sim) i have a PLP-setup (portrait-landscape-portrait) with a touchscreen in the middle... Everything works fine! looks like this: <----- DCS Besides DCS i love to fly my Cessna Caravan and my KingAir 90 which i fly in Real life, so i have to use X-Plane and FSX. I dont get very warm with X-Plane, so i would like to use FSX. Due to my Monitorsetting, i can not use eyefinity or triplehead2go or else. Only SoftTh works fine, but just with DCS. In X-Plane i can stretch it in windowed mode, which looks like this: <----- X-Plane looks nice, although not bezel corrected and unfortunately in X-Plane. When I do the same in FSX (windowed mode) i can only achieve my max resolution from 1920x1080. But i would like to have it 4080x2160... <----- FSX I'm not fully aware of doing FSX-software-tweaks... Does anyone know how to use my monitorsetup with FSX?? Any help is appreciated :helpsmilie:
  25. ClearDark, this would be awesome!!! Whats your plan? Doing an app?
