Is it the same with the combat pedals? It's those I'm looking to get.
-
Yeah it sounds reasonable...using the joystick for rudders does get a tad anoying to say the least. Have been looking at the Saitek fighter pedals, looks rather nice.
-
Sounds like just the place for me then ^^

Sorry for my ignorance but not quite sure I know what you mean by milk runs? ¨¨ And thanks Blooze, I'll give it a look.

I won't rule out that it's my previous experience with FPS games and MMOs thats keeping me from just jumping into multiplayer, I have quite a few bad experiences in those genres sadly. May be a silly question, but any servers in particular you could recommend for newbies? it seems most of the servers are password locked. Regarding squadrons, I do have to be a bit picky as there are certan things I wanna do in the game and usually when I join squads, squadrons, clans etc I aim to spend quite a bit of time on it and stay with them for long, so wanna find the right one ^^
-
I'd also have to say TrackIR, it's a complete game changer once you've set it up...makes the game even more amazing! Sorry for hijacking your thread, but it's sort of the same question: I currently have an X52 pro and trying to figure out wheter to get me a TM Warthog HOTAS or some rudder pedals. What would people recommend to get first here?

You know when it's time to take a break from DCS A10-C when..
SafetyTurtle replied to HAVOC131's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
When you're considering buying this http://www.ebay.com/itm/HGU-55E-F-5-TIGER-GRAY-PAINTING-FLIGHT-HELMET-LARGE-/141247966688?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item20e308ede0 And see if you could built in headphones and mic. Heck...I haven't played to much DCS...I just want a helmet! -
That was my first thought, I know I will want to join a squadron at some point. But my concern in this regard is that I want to find a squadron that fits me and what I wanna do and having some trouble sorting through all of them, especially since it seems some of them come and go. I was considering making a "looking for squadron" thread with a description of exactly what I'm looking for, but it seems when you do that people just refere you to the list of squadrons instead ^^

Yeah I found that out, thank you very much for the help. Have nother question though. When going through start up on my own, not in the training mission I've noticed that HARS is on but not EGI and nothing happens when I try to turn it on. Theres power and everything is set up, ready to start up the engines but it won't come on. Have I missed something?

So I just got back into the game after not having touched it for a year and a half and last time around I didn't get very far, but now I'm back and completely motivated to get good at the A-10C. And touring the forums I've seen quite a few times now that people say you'll learn more quickly by joining a multiplayer server and play with others but, as the title says, I'm not quite sure I'm ready. It was videos on youtube like those posted by Ralfidude that really got me interested in the game, so flying with others is without a doubt something I want to do. At the moment I've gone through the startup and take off training missions and can now, more or less, start up the plane and take up without much difficulty, but I've yet to look at navigation and landing...and haven't even thought about looking at the weapon systems part. So my question is really: where do you need to be to get something out of multiplayer?...my greatest fear is joining a server and then ruining the other players fun by being a complete noob and knowing what I'm doing. I also have a slight social phobia when it comes to phones, teamspeak and the like, so may be very hesitant (sp) with asking for help and advice till I get more comfortable. Should I wait with multiplayer and go through the missions til I can at least fly, navigate and land at a fair level or what would you recommend? I'm sorry if this have been brought up before, it proberbly gets asked alot.

Yeah I tried setting the zoom function to one of my HOTAS buttons on my X52 Pro throttle, but when I use it the image starts "shaking"...it did make it better for a while though, so may have to figure something out with the zoom.

Dunno if this is supposed to happen, but when I'm in the A10C I'm finding it a bit difficult to read the numbers on the HUD (to small) and when I lean in to get a closer look (I have TrackIR) they just get father away. Is this normal or is something off or perhaps I'm doing something wrong.
-
I had the same thing, but after flying around for 20-30min more or less he suddenly came to life again and had me climb, drop, turn etc.

OK, Just for the record, learning to fly...
SafetyTurtle replied to MatzWarhog's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Gotta say that landing the hog is a bitch...for me anyway, never seem to be able to line up with the runway, always end up approaching it from either the left or right...my nav skills may need alot of improvement! -

SafetyTurtle replied to MatzWarhog's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I just got this mental image of "Hawg 1-1" "...NO! not this time, hell no! find another place to land!" Now that would be funny ^^ Sounds like a good plan though, I thought about using that free-flight mission already in the game for the same purpose. -

SafetyTurtle replied to MatzWarhog's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Strangely enough I just did the landing training mission, first try I landed next to the runway, without problems though and second time actually landed on the runway and was able to taxi off and get to the "shutting the plane down" part. And right after that I just had the urge to tell someone (sorry for hijacking your thread btw ^^) that I actually landed the plane without it blowing up. It's been a long time since had such a sense of accomplishment in a computer game! -

Frogisis: I would love to see that as a newbie! the more detailed explaining the better. -
If that would include a sub, it would be kinda cool!

SafetyTurtle replied to pered's topic in Screenshots and Videos
I've watched a few of his other videos and it mostly seems like he try out games without knowing what to do, won't even do the tutorials or anything. On the plus side, watching that made me feel like alot better about my DCS skills...at least I can get the plane in the air. -
Wow!! What an awesome Sim... with the right HOTAS!!
SafetyTurtle replied to MatzWarhog's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Right now I'd be happy if I could just get the damn plane to hold steady at a certain altitude, keep going up and down some hundred feet. Currently working my way through the navigation training mission and it's giving me a headache :p Gotten pretty good at startup and take off and can stay in the air without crashing...though turning without gaining altitude is still a mystery to me. -

Really starting to love this game even though I suck at it ^^ and can't wait till my TrackIR gets here. Also really wanting to get the cougers put on two small screens, just not sure if I can figure out how to get what MFCDs display on them. But still, very awsome game, glad I picked this one for my first sim. (unless you count ARMA as a sim ofcause). -
How are the MFD's attached to the screen?

Training Missions are... ummm wrong??
SafetyTurtle replied to MatzWarhog's topic in Mission and Campaigns
Well it's not so much the crash that puzzles me, I just thought that would be it...but the training started up again 20mins later. -
Training Missions are... ummm wrong??
SafetyTurtle replied to MatzWarhog's topic in Mission and Campaigns
Just experienced something weird. I tried the mission and when I got the part where he asks me to turn inland and stops talking, like other have said, I just kept on flying for some 20min...then suddenly he came alive again and med me do climbs, drops etc. Anything else experienced this?
