Need any help with that?:clown:

I thought about a grip extension for my warthog, but when I heard about having to mess with the wiring to do it I passed - too much money down the drain if I make a mistake. Figure I'll stick to tweaking the settings if I really need to. If you don't have any issues modifying a warthog though, I did come across this DIY one made out of PVC, and there are others who have some for sale made out of metal. http://www.hovercontrol.com/cgi-bin/ib3/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST&f=43&t=21908 http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3184593/all/Selling_warthog_extension_offs

Poll:Would you buy DCS Su-25 and if so what version?
Grim_Smiles replied to Stalin's topic in DCS Wishlist
Just my opinion, but I'd have to disagree. The SM program replaced the TM only because SM is simply a more affordable program. Affordable meaning it doesn't include all the bells and whistles and the better survivability of the TM. The TM would be what the Russians would want if money wasn't an object. -
what are you doing to kill time for UH-1H huey and patch 1.2.4 release
Grim_Smiles replied to hannibal's topic in DCS: UH-1H
But seriously, just working on A-10C in single player at the moment. -
+1

I'm crossing my fingers and hoping some day that it not only gets 6DOF cockpit and new model, but that it gets its own DCS title sim.:)

No need to be sorry EB, you just have a lot of people here anxious to start throwing money at you.:D

Air to Air combat is procedural
Grim_Smiles replied to GGTharos's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I'm assuming that when you say messed up, that you are meaning that it was unrealistic that the Flanker was able to do maneuvers at low speeds while the F-15 isn't. The Flanker doing that is actually accurate, some aircraft have very good maneuverability at low speeds (Flanker, Fulcrum, Hornet) while other aircraft are just trying to keep from falling out of the sky. If I'm misunderstanding your meaning, I apologize ahead of time. -
That's what I'm thinking as well. Why would you test installers if you still haven't finished everything you're putting into it?
-
I can't find the post at the moment, will have to dig around if someone doesn't beat me to it. But I recall a dev or tester saying that at the moment you can't change door gunner weapons, so for now it sounds like M60s only. But their comment suggested that the option to change weapons for the gunners may be available at some point.

Well said! I'll definitely be one of those showing appreciation. Even after the inevitable crash on liftoff into the side of a hangar:cry:

Yep, you'll know it's out when you log onto the forum and see the tumble weeds roll across your screen.

"Is Santa coming yet!?" I was wondering when this topic was coming. EvilBivol is either pulling his hair out going "Why the f*** did I tell them that!!!!" or he's sitting in his chair like Doctor Evil going "Dance my puppets! Dance!!!!"

ED isn't required to be the one to produce the 6DOF cockpits, a third party developer could easily be the ones to do it instead, and for all we know one might already be doing this - perhaps even as a prelude to producing an A-10C style module for that aircraft. The 3D pit from that module could then be put into it's specific FC3 counterpart just without the clickable cockpit. I'm sure you have to make a base cockpit model before you start making everything interact with a mouse. The FC3 aircraft then essentially become the arcade mode of the full sim version. In addition if you make the exterior 3D model for, as an example, a MiG-29A there is no point to having two different models for a MiG-29A in DCS World. As another possibility it could even be offered by the 3rd party separate to their full sim - either buy the sim at full price, or if you don't want to fly a study sim (I have friends who don't have any desire to touch something like A-10C but wouldn't have a problem buying FC3) you can buy just the watered-down cockpit and model separately for your FC3 version for a lower price. Those who want a study sim will buy the full version, but you still get income from those who wouldn't bother with that level of detail. In the mean time nothing like this is going to happen any time soon, so we turn to the next sim that is put out and keep our fingers crossed.

Same here, I would be happy to pay extra for new models and 6DOF cockpits for FC3 planes that didn't get them, as that's a lot better than not having them at all. Granted if they ever make modules of Flankers/Fulcrums/Frogfoots at A-10C quality I'd immediately jump to those instead. But not everyone is able to handle study sim level aircraft, and having the easier FC3 aircraft brings more people into DCS that might not otherwise have come - meaning more money for ED and more targets for us to shoot at.:pilotfly:

I'm not sure that ED actually puts out "press releases", other than what they post to the site as an announcement - which they have not done yet. I believe he's referring to the Huey webpage being the announcement (considering that was what they linked to), which wasn't an announcement but instead an old link page that someone leaked out. I think he realizes he jumped the gun and just wants to avoid the backlash from upsetting a bunch of F5 spamming simnuts:lol:
-
Indeed. Granted I'm chomping at the bit for the Russian fighters like MiG-21Bis and SU-27SM (why couldn't the Russians make a SU-33SM:cry: ), but when the next DCS fighter comes out, be it F-18 or F-15, it is getting added to my hangar. I love all the fighters:joystick:

Wags said in BelSimtek section that this change log only applies to existing products so it doesn't mention UH-1, and that Huey will be released with 1.2.4.
-
Completely understandable Wags and appreciate the feedback. I'm quite happy that you made the changes that you did, especially where it concerns the SU-27. I'll be quite happy flying that until SU-27SM comes out in the future.
-
Right, I knew the real life SU-33 had to have differences for those very reasons, but since Flaming Cliffs didn't have interactive cockpits I incorrectly assumed the developers just copied the SU-27 cockpit into the SU-33. I'm happy to hear that I was wrong to assume that.
-
Thanks for the correction, since FC3 cockpits aren't interactive I never looked too closely at the SU-33 and SU-27 to spot differences in their cockpits (I know the real ones would have differences, just didn't know this extended to FC). I can live just fine with the external models of the 33 and mig if they aren't getting changed, but after seeing the nice cockpit in the Eagle I just didn't have the desire to fire up the non-6DOF planes despite my love for the flanker/fulcrum. So hopefully we at least get cockpits for mig and 33 someday.
-
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the SU-33 cockpit the same as the SU-27 in FC? In which case, they could simply add the SU-27 6DOF to the 33? Doesn't change the issue for the mig though, since while there are similarities with Flanker cockpit they are not the same. Also was hoping that we'd see all FC3 aircraft get a new model in addition to 6DOF cockpits before it became a release version (knew it wouldn't happen for 1.2.4, but didn't know this was release version until now). That said, doesn't mean that there is no chance of it ever being added in the future, just not at release.
