Do you start out playing in Sim and Game mode?
Grim_Smiles replied to EvilBivol-1's topic in DCS: UH-1H
Sim mode. Rather not pick up bad habits with game mode, would make learning the sim even harder in my opinion. Verily there was much swearing in the kingdom in the beginning, but now only the occasional "OH S***!!!" can be heard through the land. -
Should we keep the autopilot and weapons hint display?
Grim_Smiles replied to EvilBivol-1's topic in DCS: UH-1H
THANK YOU! I managed to turn it on somehow by accident and couldn't figure out what buttons I hit to do it so I could turn it off. I did finally see the options setting to turn it off after awhile, but I've still managed to turn it back on again before. Now I know what keys to avoid. Now the only question is why did I keep hitting LCTRL+LSHIFT+H, what exactly was I trying to accomplish there? As for whether to keep the option, I don't have any opinion either way. I don't see the harm in keeping it, despite a numbnut like me turning it on by accident. -
I feel your pain. Created a mission with auto-start on ramp, saved and then hit the button to fly the mission. Had the same thing happen soon as I jumped into the sim. Problem I ran into was that no matter what I did after this with the throttle and collective, it wouldn't stop flying off. I ended up having to exit out of DCS, then when going back in I didn't have a problem anymore.

Came across this when doing a search awhile back for info about the Vietnam era Cobra. PT-76 is a light tank so if Hydras didn't penetrate armor but only disabled the vehicle and killed crew, I can't see them taking down a T-72.

Bought it:thumbup: And bought it:doh: Really wish that building hadn't been there:cry:

Why are you apologizing that I'm flying the Huey?

1.2.4... Auto Updt or install from scratch?
Grim_Smiles replied to Anatoli-Kagari9's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I'd recommend the clean install. I set both torrent of DCS install and the autoupdater to go while I went to work, figuring I'd use one or the other. Checked them remotely and torrent finished much faster. Auto update took hours and at the end it failed, said something about a hash mismatch. So the decision was made for me. -
I find my flying always seems to improve as the level of alcohol in my bloodstream rises.

I wonder how many cows Para_Bellum has beheaded by now in his slow decent into madness while waiting for the Huey?

You keep using that word...

His question was whether the ricochets in game were able to cause damage, so I'm not understanding why you posted that video?

Next DCS (Russian) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
Grim_Smiles replied to Milene's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I'm hoping we don't have to wait years for this, really want to fly this thing. Especially since if memory serves the SU-27SM can fire the R-77 while the older SU-27 in FC3 can't. I'm pretty confident ED will have a DCS level Flanker at some point, after all they produced Flanker games before. Having only Western DCS level jets to fight against in multiplayer would get really old. Having the red planes thrown in keeps it interesting. -
Thanks Wags and ED!

Good luck and congrats!

what are you doing to kill time for UH-1H huey and patch 1.2.4 release
Grim_Smiles replied to hannibal's topic in DCS: UH-1H
Naw I hate that game, the graphics suck and the NPC AI is horrible. -

Grim_Smiles replied to hannibal's topic in DCS: UH-1H
I'm not at all sure on my interpretation, just very hopeful. It could very well be that they only found the bug now and that he meant that ED was checking that there was indeed a major bug. But based on the old comments, Belteksim seemed to have believed the release was going to be much sooner, so the fact they have been delayed so long past that expectation would suggest this bug mustang mentioned was the reason for that. So I'm hoping that what ED is currently checking is the fix, and not the bug. Again though, this is merely me being optimistic. -

Grim_Smiles replied to hannibal's topic in DCS: UH-1H
Based on the wording it sounded to me like they found the bug much earlier (back when they first thought it was going to be released) and had already dealt with it, and the fix is now being checked by ED. But then I'm likely misunderstanding this, maybe what mustang meant by checking is that ED is verifying that there is a major bug in the release, which would mean they wouldn't even have a fix yet. I'm just going to go forward with a skeptical optimism - I'm going to assume launch is any day now, but I'm not going to get myself excited and just start focusing on other things until it happens. -

They said "soon", Hitler's gonna go sit sideways again:chair: -
I think it's been derailed for quite awhile lol. Least the Huey/Shark topic is much more entertaining than the one we just wrapped up (though I'm sure the engine will start back up soon on that one).:pilotfly:

That could definitely be an interesting fight. The Huey would have to make use of ambushing and popping out of an unexpected place to have a shot, engaging the Shark in the open is of course suicide. But then the Shark can do the same ambushes as well. With the way terrain is in DCS right now, that doesn't give the Huey a lot of chances to "get off the X" when caught by the Shark.

F-18 grip, WARTHOG compatible
Grim_Smiles replied to hegykc's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Would be cool to see a Flanker/Fulcrum style stick, but that one would likely be hard to do to get the twist right. However, those F-18 ones and the Huey ones are really sparking my interests. I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to doing mods on my Thrustmaster, but for a fighter style stick I'd give it a go. Would definitely be interested in buying. Heck I might pick up another Thrustmaster in the future just to have a chopper only setup. -
I love how the least thing that has happened to the website over the waiting period has caused us to get all excited, from the webpage going down to the old Huey page being removed and the new one popping up. "It just went down! Huey is coming! Victory is mine!":yay: *F5* "AH @#$%!!!! Damn internet!!!!":crash: How many strokes is that for Cowboy now lol?
