  1. Something must have gone wrong with the track upon uploading and downloading. I don't recall crashing tail first and exploding in a giant fireball. I did view the track and everything was normal.
  2. Here's lil ole me trying the shark again. I think I performed better this time. Though I was messing around with the Shkval and I lost the speed indicator on the HUD. Went through the whole flight without it. Landing went somewhat better. Though I think I broke something on the way down. Landed it somewhat like a fixed wing aircraft. I still can't do that hover and descent thing. KA-50.rar
  3. Pardon again for the tardy reply. As far as I know; there is nothing wrong with the track. What you see there is what happened. Including the crash when I attempted to land. Yes I did engage that auto hover thinking I'm already slow enough to do so.
  4. Hello again, I apologize for the tardy reply... Work has been a killer recently and it will remain so for another week. Here's a short track of me putting the Ka-50 in its paces. As you can see I have totally zero confidence on how to get things done with the aircraft. Hopefully that improves soon. As for my statement where I refuse to learn weaponry and other aspects of the Ka-50. What I meant was that my intention if to fully master the flight characteristics of the Shark first, before I step into the world of weapons employment and other advanced BlackShark operations. My short term goal is to be able to at least 'dance' the Shark around a flagpole with confidence as well as having the Shark do what my mind intends to do and translate it into control inputs to execute as such. Then I can consider learning the other stuff. Positive feedback would be very much appreciated, thanks Ka-50 Testflight.trk
  5. So basically... I fly around with the trimmer set.... Hold the trimmer... Make a maneuver... Release trimmer... Rinse and repeat ? I seem to be getting the notion that this is how the Blackshark should be flown ? Forgive the noobish notion, but I am after all starting from scratch :)
  6. @ Yurgon Noted... I shall post a track as soon as I get some free time from work. What I meant was turning in place while on hover. In which I use gentle taps on the rudder. @ Jumbik I'm rewatching it again to see what I have missedl. I am not sure if my autopilot is interfering. I only have the 3 buttons lighted up on the right panel as per recommended. If I do have the current heading autopilot switched on; where do I deactivate it ? I've been told that it has to do with the real life physics of a coax helicopter and helicopters in general. The craft simply wants to go into the rotation of the rotors (right I believe) so one has to compensate with a little left cyclic.

Looking forward to the expansion of your guides. @jumbik Yes; I've already watched this video. It did help somewhat. I no longer bounce everywhere when utilizing the trimmer. My issue now is turning. Say I'm heading in this direction; and I want to turn around. Use my rudder pedals to do so. Once I reach the heading that I want and ease off the pedal. Why is it that the craft wants to go back to my original heading ? I've also mapped auto hover. How exactly does the auto hover work ? I was sort of expecting something magical like; I'm in a forward flight, and all I need to do is activate auto hover; and it will on it's own, stop my forward motion, level out and hover in place. That doesn't seem to happen. Do I have to manually stop forward flight on my own and get as close to hover as I can before using auto hover ?
  8. Hi ! I just bought the Black Shark a few days ago. Been wanting to try out rotary aircraft. I hail from the fix wings (A-10C & F-15C) I am slowly building a hotas profile for the Black Shark on my X-52. For ease of training. I try to map 'similar' functions into the same button (e.g F-15C's radar lock and A-10C's TMS Up) Is there someone kind enough to provide me with an exhaustive list of 'essentials' that must be mapped on the stick as opposed to cockpit clicking. So that I can improve efficiency. Secondly; I've been only flying for a few days now (busy with work, and unfortunately gonna be so till the end of the month :( ) I seem to notice that my hand needs to be constantly on the stick (this leaves me no room to operate cockpit clickables). Everytime I let go of the stick; the craft simply wants to nose up. I've already mapped trimmer and trim reset (mapped it in the same place where I would trim in both the F-15C and A-10C for easy reference). I totally have no idea how the trimmer works. I was sort of expecting something similar to the A-10, where if I find that I'm pitching up without input; I trim down. The trimmer on the Blackshark seems to want me to careen everywhere. So how do I go about using the trimmer in such a way where I am able to let go of the stick; and the craft will remain level ? P.S. Trying to spend as much time as possible getting familiar with the cockpit layout. Please forgive me for finding that there is no recognizable 'sense' in the arrangement of the switches and everything. Not gonna bother learning weapons systems for now. I just want to get comfortable flying the aircraft. Afterwards; gonna proceed with learning the avionics.

  10. So how does one make the TGP track moving objects like vehicles ? I've been pressing TMS Up Short repeatedly to no avail. Is there something I need to do first ?

  13. Oh dear me ! I got into the wrong thread. Memo to me** Never make posts early in the morning. Make sure the brain is aligned first. I do have the reference app as well though. Great tool for emergencies. I'm off now to look for the relevant thread, tata!
  14. Purchased the app. It was totally worth it. I now have everything; literally at my fingertips. One question though; I seem to be having a difficult time manipulating the radio knobs to change frequency. A very slight movement would cause the change channels very quickly. More often than not; I overshot the frequency that I want. Is it like that ? Or is there a trick to manipulating it that I don't know about ?
  15. Speaking of gun runs.... Lately my gun performance have been dismal. Same scenario as Set 2; I even went on an attack heading along the line of tanks. I only got a measly two kills after emptying the entire ammo drum. Though on F10 view; I see a lot of tanks with a nearly empty health bar.... Still; I was under the impression that even a singe 30mm round can wreak havoc on a tank when placed properly... So a rain of them would devastate such tank nearly instantly. Is it because they implemented some sort of 'health system' ? Or is collision now that bad ?
  16. Seems like we've opened a can of worms here. And I thought I'd just like to have an idea of how each CBU works at various HOFs and RPMs. Though I did also notice that there was a drastic change in the CBU performance over the months as patches went in. Back in May; right about the time I started flying the A-10; I was reasonably killing at least 6 tanks at 700 HOF with a CBU-97 with a dispersal similar to that of set 2 in your scenarios. Then I stopped playing DCS for a while. When I came back about two months ago; seems that my 'blanket setting' for HOFs with the CBU-97 doesn't seem to be working as effectively as before.

  18. Is there a graph/chart/illustration to show the performances of the CBU-97 and -87 at various HOFs and RPM (for -87s). I would like to know what settings to use depending on how dispersed my group of targets are. That being said... What is the reasonable amount of targets you can kill with a single CBU ?
  19. Not really a technical question about the A-10, but more a pondering question. I was playing on one of those dynamic missions server just now. RWR lit up to show that there are allied F-18s in the area. Happened to glance on the TAD and saw two aircraft symbols nearby. Wondering who was that, as I am the only A-10 in the area. Slewed the TAD cursor over to the said aircraft symbol and it showed an F-18. Now then, for the pondering question: Does this imply that there will be a datalink across the A-10C and F-18 module (whether the C or the E) when it comes out ? Other aircraft as well ? Will this mean a tighter coordination between CAS and SEAD aircraft ?
  20. Spawned inside a shelter. Good day to go flying and drop some steel. Did my startup procedure. No hitches. Started heading out the shelter. Made a turn to the right to head to the runway. Heard a soft thud My plane suddenly swerved to the right Turned out my wing clipped the shelter door. Inspected the wing damage. Seems good Uhhhhh where's the reverse gear ?
  21. I just had this happen to me, on what seemed like a normal flight.... Says Right MFCD Stuck Key. Any idea what caused it and how it can be fixed ?

  23. For me I would prefer they release new locations according to the new modules... IF DCS F/A-18E or C comes out... I would like for it to be in the Korean Peninsula... In homage to Jane's F/A-18 games... If it's the F-15E then I would like for it to be set in the Middle East, in homage again to Jane's F-15E games as well as various novels that depict the F-15E.
  24. Was able to make the Microsoft Lifecam HD5000 work somewhat; without the removal of the IR filter. Found one of my old X-rays; cut a small piece of it and placed it over the lens. It allowed me to get full tracking, I have not tested it in daytime though. I had the room dark when I tried.
  25. Are those models in that list still require modifications ? Kinda hard to find floppy disk tapes or films in the digital age.
