  1. IIRC from ground school (when i was awake), WS heat isnt effected very much because it has several layers of glass (excellent insulator) and heat itself increases resistance for any conductor. But, i could have just been waking up when that was taught.. so dont take my word for it... :smartass:
  2. Hopefully Glowing Amraam will chime in here with some pointers for uploading to youtube. The original in high def looks really nice. HUD is defined as well as the targets. Even 1024x768 came out nice. Wish i knew a way to clean it up for youtube.... I made it mainly for a tutorial/entertainment as it shows all different modes of shooting. RWS, TWS with multiple 120's, Aim9 and cannon work on the Helo. Of course i had to throw in some Jimi for the Helo kill. Heres a bit of trivia.. .anyone know where Jimi got the idea for "Purple Haze"? ... and no.. it has nothing do to with double barrel purple mesc :music_whistling: No cheating on google either....;) No mod on the radar. The only mods i have are the canopy lines and zzzspace sound. And i changed the HUD color a bit to 100,255,100 (if thats what you meant).
  3. Thanks LawnDart. After doing some tweaking myself, i figured out a way to get a nice HD version of my first movie. I was able to get 1280x720 for almost 7 mins into 130mb. If i increase the bit rate, its almost flawless at 200mb, except for the fact i cant run any AA or AF while rendering with fraps. Now im having a problem with youtube, I uploaded my video there in 1024x768, but the recompression to their standard resolution pretty much ruined it... if anyone knows anyway i can clean this up for youtube, i'd be grateful... Glowing Amraam videos came out pretty nice on youtube. How can i get mine to look like that? It looks good in high def and 1024x768, but not so great on youtube...here it is...
  4. We never had problems with WS heat and St Elmo. Its more of a problem with VHF interference. While flying through high altitude super cooled precip we actually hear the static over the freq increase as we fly along.. then WHAP!.. no more static... then it would start to build again...till the next WHAP! Fun times...lol I hear the most exciting light show is in turboprops when St Elmo grabs ahold of the prop tips. I used to fly a Corporate King Air years ago, but never had the pleasure of seeing it....
  5. The resolution isnt so great on youtube, but the original file is 1024x768 and about 70mb. I also have a High Def version which is about 130mb if anyone is interested. I have to figure out how to get better resolution on youtube... good music though... enjoy..
  6. Looks pretty typical of flying the leading edge of a cell. That was pretty tame though... light to mod chop. The AP didnt even kick off... Im surprised those guys didnt have fun with St Elmo though. If you put your hand on the windshield, you can "drag" the static electricity around like one of those vandegraaff generator glass balls you see at Sharper Image... Now you guys know what its like on a typical summer evening in the midwest at the flight levels...
  7. Im starting to make movies and was wondering what you used to make this movie only 57mb in high def with good fps for over 2 mins? It also appears you're using a bit of AA in there. Im using Fraps and something that good would easily be over 2gb.... most likely over 10gb. Any help appreciated.... Im also using WMM 2.0 for editing and its always crashing. I searched on the web and it says to rename some codecs, however, i dont have any of the codecs listed that would cause problems... anyone have any ideas? Or perhaps a better editing software? Thanks in advance. Your video came out awesome. Would love to know how to make mine look like that for such a relatively small file....
  8. I agree. Thanks virusse! Most ladder tournaments dont offer anything except bragging rights. This one offers TrackIR AND a trophy! Im trying to round up a few from the 54th. Its hard to tear some of them away from the Ghost Skies IL2 tourney going on now (i dont think that offers anything to the winner/s). Looking forward to the official site. Nice job and thanks again virusse! PS to others. I already own a TIR4. Im sure i can find a use for another.. ;)
  9. I personally didnt notice a fps change, but i wasnt really looking for one. My main concern was that sometimes the scratches could be mistaken for contrails or low flying aircraft (the shorter "dot" looking type scratches). Since i have the canopy lift lines, i suppose removing the scratches wouldnt make much of a fps change. :pilotfly:
  10. http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=14773 :music_whistling:
  11. Excellent job! Even if pilots already know how to repair, the download is worth it for the voice-over alone.. ;) Very nice job on the movie itself as well. Do you happen to have any tutorials on making movies with Win Movie Maker? (i watched your Su25T Bloopers movie). I know how to capture with Fraps, i just havent used Windows Movie Maker yet. It looks like you get some really nice frame rates while keeping the file at a reasonable size. Thanks again for your contributions.. keep the voice-overs coming...
  12. heres more... about 1/3 down the page... http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.simhq.com/_air/images/air_007a_29t.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.simhq.com/_air/air_007a.html&h=80&w=100&sz=2&tbnid=P8TdIh1GydQ1dM:&tbnh=61&tbnw=77&hl=en&start=7&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dcanopy%2Blift%2Blines%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D
  13. Dont really know why they call them "lift lines". But, they are there to enhance situational awareness when your head is on a swivel looking for bogeys while maneuvering...
  14. Worked like a charm. Thanks for the files. The problem with turning off reflections is that i lose my canopy lift lines... a must when dogfighting online with TIR.
  15. Thanks guys.... You too TDW for the PM. Anyone want to tackle another hard question?? lol Im getting flashing water textures really bad after i installed the Water FPS mod from D-Syncth (sp?). Well, let me clarify.... I installed the water fps mod a few weeks ago. Had some flashing water but not too bad. Recently, i unistalled and reinstalled LOFC, using control panel add/remove only. I opened modman to reinstall the mods, and they were all green as if modman thought they were still installed. So i uninstalled modman and reinstalled that. I click on files to reinstall with modman, and they're still green??? Almost as if the LOFC uninstall didnt uninstall the mods. So... anyway... im playing this morning and my water textures are flashing so bad, bright white, i uninstalled the water fps mod. Looks to be ok now, and the fps is the same with no flashing textures.... hmmmm..... comments?
  16. I searched everywhere. Im not able to find this mod. I found a thread which linked to lomacfiles.com, but that site doesnt seem to be there anymore. Anyone have a link to this no scratch mod? I'd really like to "buff" out the scratches in my canopy... ;)
  17. After a bit of searching... i came up with something better. I removed the CockpitSystems wave so that there is no chatter in the cockpit. Then i have winamp playing in the background with all my favorites on shuffle...
  18. Hi all... i sent this to zzz via pm, but it seems his last activity was in July of 2005. So maybe some of you can help me out here.... I downloaded the sound pack for LOFC. Excellent job. I am replacing the CockpitSystems wav with some Jimi Hendrix  ... however, i noticed it is tied to the throttle response. As i pull back power, the song gets really slow and distorted. What setting do i have to change in order to keep it seperate? I went into the sound.cfg file and tried to group it in with effects... etc. But no dice. I have also gone into the plane.cfg file and made distortion-false. Still no dice... any help appreciated! Great sound pack! Love the Aim7 launch sound....
  19. Actually, im rather pleased with the gigabyte board. I had originally built this gaming pc with an MSI board with an ATI card. Random reboots, CTD's.. all the time. This gigabyte board has been very good to me. Im normally an Nvidia guy, but i went with the ATI cause it was priced right and i had hoped they came a long way since TNT cards. The only two ATI cards i have owned i have had troubles with. From what i understand, its not so much the card, its the fact they can never develope a good driver. If anyone is interested in a cheap 9600 256mb Pro.. drop me a line..lol As for the smooth hud, i stand corrected. I thought i had the smooth hud installed when in fact i did not. I installed the smooth hud, and its actually better than the default hud frame in terms of tearing. The tearing is uniform throughout where before the default hud frame had about 4 times the tearing as the rest of the screen. Also, i should mention i am running this on a 37" LCD HDTV in 1360x768 60hz. Native resolution is 1366x768. The only way i can get 1366 is through powerstrip and im not really prepared to do that yet. Perhaps switching to 1280x720 may reduce tearing? I think the EDID is 1280x720 (whatever EDID is... dunno).
  20. Well, i tried everything. Neg LOD was already on clamp, image settings are high quality, BIOS was already set to 66/33/100, AGP volts are default, and i have the latest BIOS... which is F5. Trip Buff is on, Vert sync is on. 2xAA, 2xAF. I always use Driver Cleaner and go into safe mode.. etc etc.. when switching drivers.... still getting tearing... Tearing is really bad around the smooth Hud frame i downloaded from lockonfiles, so i guess thats coming out. Anything else you can think of? Thanks again for your help...
  21. Hi Kindred, Glad they are working out for you... and others... I get tearing all the time in all games with every driver i have used. Especially when rapidly moving side to side with TIR. I figured this was normal. I have tried using Vert synch on, but still get tearing. What other options should i try? I'll look into my BIOS for the freq settings... is there anything else i should look into? 22. Thanks Prophet.... I could do that, but my Z axis is much more valuable (especially when hunting mud spikes), than using the keyboard for zoom. I guess i'll just have to stick with setting my view as i enter the cockpit. Every pilot has to adjust the seat how he likes it when he gets in... so i'll manage.. ;)
  23. Thanks for the replys guys... I have TIR 4. Everytime i get in the cockpit i lean forward and look up a bit to the canopy frame and recenter the TIR so that when i lean back to my normal seating postion, it "zooms out" to the perfect postion for me. I was hoping there would be some way to skip this step by adjusting the default view. I tried usiing the default "/" and "*" on the keypad to zoom out once in the cockpit, but if TIR is enabled, then the keypad is disabled. When i lean forward and recenter TIR and then lean back to my normal seating postion, the TIR kinda "jumps" around because its not in its normal Z axis center postion (kinda confusing without showing what im talking about). I have adjusted the "zoom out" side almost flat so that it doesnt act so jumpy... but it still jumps around a bit. If i can modify the default cockpit view angle to about 100 degrees with TIR enabled (i found this comfortable when experimenting in the snapview.lua without TIR enabled), it would keep my Z axis centered and no jumpy views. I'll make a track to show what im talking about... pay no attention to the brief stall... ;) I was able to damp out most of the "jumpy-ness" with my TIR profile. But if i can figure out a way to get that view as default view so i dont have to go through the re-centering process each time i get in the cockpit would be bonus.......
  24. Hi everyone, Im trying to increase my default cockpit view angle while using TIR. Default view feels like "Granny driving"....lol. It sits you too close to the panel imo. I can adjust the view angle using snapviews.lua without TIR, however, when using track IR, it seems the snapviews are disabled and this file is moot. I have tried adjusting this, "CockpitViewAngleDefault = 90.0" in the view.cfg as well..removing the "//", no dice. Is there another file i need to adjust the default view? I have looked in the Track IR file under config/trackir and this is what i get with notepad... /*INSERTED*/ Axis = "Axis"; Looking under the TrackIR file under /input, is encrypted text.... Any ideas?
  25. I havent noticed this. Granted, im brand spanking new to the A-10, but i was able to lock several targets on the 44th server the other day that were on the airfield while GG was giving me pointers... (Thanks GG!). Some targets were on the perimeter, some were on the field. Sams, tanks, radars... etc. Is there a specific type of target that wont lock near an airfield? TIA
