He was using them to demo correcting the drift en-route. Why do it en-route? You could be flying a long mission and waiting to get to the target or your steerpoint a long way away to find it's a long way from where your nav thinks it is would be bad. Offsets near the target wouldn't help if the drift is too far for you to even find them. The steerpoint offers don't seem to need to be actually near the steerpoints - you're just finding known landmarks on the way to that steerpoint and comparing the landmarks to the steerpoint offsets to correct drift as you go. He also said he'd artificially made the drift worse in the mission to over emphasise it.

It'll release when it releases. No point in spending too much time and effort debating it or or fretting over it

I'd assume it's reasonably accurate, within the bounds of security clearance etc. There are plenty of photos of the cockpit online, and they're working with people that have flown it aren't they?

Resurrecting a post from 2021???
-
I tend to leave them on, but then I've got all the switches I use the most bound to buttons on my StreamDeck.
-
Honestly though it's all in the past and can't be changed. We'll forget all about it once we're sitting in the cockpit

Pretty sure I've seen plenty of complaints about Steam users not having access to the 30%. If they'd said that way in advance, those people would still have complained about it.....
-
Eh? People on Steam will get the 20% when it hits EA. The complaints were solely that Steam users aren't getting access to the 30% as far as I can see, since literally the only point of the pre-order (as far as we the customer are concerned) is to get a 30% discount instead of the 20% EA discount
-
What they probably *should* have done, is just have a 20% discount from the start of EA, and simply not do this whole pre-order at all. Bit late now though
-
We can use it how we like I would think that even if it's not quite as good as the C, pilot skill plays such a large part anyway that it will be perfectly competent....
-
I also tend to view many of my video game purchases in £££s/hour of enjoyment. It you pay £55 for the F-15, and get 100hrs of enjoyment from it, then I would argue it's a very cost-effective purchase vs some of the other leisure activities you could pay for....

It's a free market. ED/RB can set the price they want - their aim being to cover costs and make a profit - and we as consumers choose to buy at that price (or not). The price at which costs are covered depends on volume sold, so there's trade-offs to be made. If the price is too high for the consumers, they won't purchase in sufficient quantities for costs to be covered and profit to be made, and ED/RB reflect on that and can choose to change. We don't know their costs, so we're missing fairly vital info on whether the pricing is fair or not. They do know their costs, so we trust they are setting prices that are not exploitatively high. This is not a high-volume market (I imagine), and I would suggest they are not, but we are all free to individually chose the price at which we comfortable making this (or any) purchase..... Do I personally buy at full price? No - sales are regular enough that clearly ED can make profit at the lower sales/discount prices. You could even argue that the sales are frequent enough that the 'real' price is the sale price, as I can't imagine why many people would buy outside of the sales. I don't think people should be arguing about whether poor people should be able to play DCS or not though. DCS modules are not a necessity - owning them is not a 'right'. ED is a business in a niche market, and prices are going to reflect that. I'm sure they try to make the prices as reasonable as possible, so as many people can buy as possible while still making profit as a business. Many of the modules are very well priced in the sales, so there are modules for people on tighter budgets if you cannot afford the $55 for the F-15.

Cool I didn't know you could do it piecemeal. Interesting. Not sure I'd ever find it useful, but good to know
-
Oh really? I thought you had to either buy on one or the other platform for everything. Is that because if I'm on Standalone, I can buy on Steam then transfer it across to Standalone?
-
Not sure I understand your point. If ED's servers are down, you can still start the game and play offline surely? And if MP is your thing, it doesn't matter which version you're on as you log into ED to play MP, so being on Steam hasn't helped you? Or am I wrong about the above?
-
All good - wasn't aimed specifically at you sorry
-
Which is up to them to ask for, and up to us to vote with our wallets as to whether we think it's a valid ask or not. Those who are happy to give it get a slightly lower price as a result. Those that aren't happy can choose to wait. No-one has a gun to anyone's head here
-
nobody else getting this?
-
You buy the module through ED, ED have explained why Razbam don't want to offer 30% on Steam (they'll make too little after Steam's cut), but have confirmed the 20% discount will be on Steam. I'm not sure what else you want/need them to say? The reasoning has been explained, and it makes sense. You might not agree with that reasoning, but I'm not sure that's on Razbam. BTW I can understand being a bit miffed that you can't get the same discount, but it is what it is. You always have the choice to move to standalone if getting that extra 10% means that much.
-
I think the answers is, yes you can do it on your own, but doing it with someone else will be better. Like many things in life
-
The price was definitely displayed wrong in the shop and people definitely got it at the at the wrong price. Trust me But it was only like it for a very short time......
-
It was like 5mins tops. Very quickly a) they fixed the price and b) the site started struggling under the load. So I don't imagine many people got in at that price, but only ED will know.
-
Maybe they'll do miles on it later when it's at less of a discount.
-
Kinda assume that separate engines would be there on day 1 - feels like an odd thing not to release with?
-
Razbam chose not to participate in the Miles programme for the F-15E. So you can't gain miles from buying, or use miles to buy it.
