It's only been 2 months since the start of pre-order, when they said the release would be a 'few' months away. I really don't understand how people are getting so annoyed and upset....
-
Does feel like it's fairly imminent given the ramp-up in hype
-
Yeah I've been really enjoying the Notso videos
-
By not telling us the date that they have set, they can move that date to whenever they want though before they actually tell us what it is
-
I think I can cope with a slightly inaccurate Betty if it means they let me fly the jet sooner
-
In A near future, not THE near future.... Is this some sort of multiverse thing where we might not actually get it in our version?
-
How near is near?

Be interesting to see what this manual is like in terms of format, and whether a Chucks Guide will be needed....
-
Kinda depends what we're expecting in terms of quality for EA. Are we expecting a limited feature set but no bugs in those features a limited feature set and a chunk of bugs I was assuming/expecting 2. Alphas tend to come with a healthy dose of bugs (as do betas for that matter).
-
They said that? I only remember them saying it'll release a 'few' months after the pre-order started.
-
Best to not get too excited. That way it's not some massive downer when it doesn't release for another 2 months
-
Except the people doing the art/modelling aren't the same people who do the code
-
I don't think we can necessarily infer anything from his post
-
I thought his post said the manual was still being worked on? "513 pages and counting - still WiP"
-
Why are they ringing though? They literally said a 'few months'. To me that could be anywhere between 2 months, and maybe 6 (and could be longer given 'few' is subjective). I'm certainly not getting worried therefore at the 2 month point, which is the absolute minimum that 'few' could be
-
You guys really do spend a lot of time worrying about when it's going to be released
-
From the videos it looks in good shape. Hopefully they're just testing/bugfixing at this point....

[NO LONGER PASSES IC] Improved Contact Dot Spotting (Updated v1.1)
AhSoul replied to Why485's topic in DCS Modding
I've had to create my own labels file to overcome spotting in 4k (I wanted something less intrusive than the defaults but still help me). I'd love to stop using labels and use better dots.... -
I think the point is that you *CAN* solo it, but no it's not how it would happen IRL and no it won't be as effective as having a crew. Distributing tasks is always going to be better e.g. the WSO working on the radar maps to identify the target while the pilot has the radar back in A/A mode.
-
You can do pretty much everything from the front seat. It's just a) easier to do some things from the back, as they have dedicated HOTAS for each pair of MFDs with shortcuts the pilot doesn't. and b) two pair of hands/eyes is generally better than one. Soloing it should be fine....
-
Yeah. Definitely better to pay more later when it's released.... (Assuming you're definitely going to buy it at some point of course)
-
You could always just not watch the videos, ignore everything, and just be excited when it releases.....

He was using them to demo correcting the drift en-route. Why do it en-route? You could be flying a long mission and waiting to get to the target or your steerpoint a long way away to find it's a long way from where your nav thinks it is would be bad. Offsets near the target wouldn't help if the drift is too far for you to even find them. The steerpoint offers don't seem to need to be actually near the steerpoints - you're just finding known landmarks on the way to that steerpoint and comparing the landmarks to the steerpoint offsets to correct drift as you go. He also said he'd artificially made the drift worse in the mission to over emphasise it.
