  1. I was unable to find an answer to this question. I would like my default F1 view to look like the cntrl+F1 view without the head movement into turns. I've played with the SnapViewDefault.lua (#13)and got it pretty close but the HUD no longer "fits right". is there a way to resize the HUD? does anyone have their A-10c default view set up like I want to set mine? thanks. John Oh yea, I set my FOV to 133 but it doesn't seem to change fron 120. Is 120 the max FOV?
  2. Will I get bigger gains in A-10 with a 5Ghz CPU or a 7970 GPU? Would a second 6970 in crossfire improve DCS? I watercool the CPU and am partial to AMD/ATI. Just because... Thanks, John edit: the GPU is actually clocked at 950/1450. I didn't realize it had reverted back to stock settings when i upgraded the drivers.
  3. I've used headtracking for a couple of years now. It's great. In January I got a 3 screen setup and use less movement headtracking with it. WAY better than headtracking alone. I'm using 1080p TV's as my monitors not just for the size (39") but the cost per inch is much less than monitors. If you have a grand+ to throw at your display then do a triple head setup. John
  4. Hey, Instructions. How about that. Gadroc, Rep and cash have both been sent your way. Thanks for a wonderful program. It would seem that the Windows 8 option under "go to Input Panel Settings" is "Use gestures from the Simplified Chinese" John
  5. Wow this thing is cool. I am having one other small issue though. Often time when I touch something it activates, then when I release it, it deactivates. Say I'm selecting a weapon with the MFCD . It highlights when I select it, then it switches back to "no weapon" when I let it go. The same thing happens with the hidden panels as well. Sometimes it works but more often it doesn't. I'm using CptLOZ's 2.1 panel. I've played with the touch settings but that hasn't helped. Could it be in the Profile do you think? John
  6. Windows 8, but it was the same. Thank you.
  7. I just got a Planer PXL2230mw monitor. It's very cool except that the touch function is showing up on the main desktop; not the extended desktop that I intend to use for Helios. Any ideas? Thanks, John
  8. The TVs are 1080p and the monitor is 1920x1200. I'm using an overclocked HIS 6970 with an Artic Cooling Extreme II heatsink. The CPU is an AMD 1090t 6 core running @ 4Ghz. Getting about 35-45 FPS at high settings. It stays at the higher end of that range with the cockpit turned off.
  9. I guess the best answer is "Just because". I was a mechanic for 28 years and now I'm a high school teacher. I just gotta know how things work. I did find Outlaw's 2 part tutorial. If any of you haven't seen it, you should. Now my gauges are working. Still didn't keep me from running into the GBU-12 I just dropped. Maybe I should watch that video too... :music_whistling: John Edit: I just programmed my Warthog buttons to change the state of the Helios switches. Too cool. Crap, Now I have to build a cockpit...
  10. I have 3 39" Coby TVs that I purchased from Amazon for $300 each. The view is lifesize. No really, the MIP is 37" across. The side screens come off the main screen at a 45 degree angle. I use Facetrack with very low movement curves mainly to see the cockpit controls. I'd like to buy a forth one to put above the center screen but that might be overkill :D
  11. Hello All, I've been playing with Helios the last couple of evenings. All I can say is Gadroc ROCKS! I've been resizing and repositioning the gauges and such for a 1920x1200 monitor. I'm working through most of the issues (I think). I placed a fan RPM R gauge to try and figure out how to make it work. I'm stumped. There should be a locked sticky somewhere. In FSX it was fairly simple to create gauges once I learned some of the basics. I am by no means a programmer but I've been building (and crashing) computers for about 15 years so I've had to learned a few things. So if anyone can give me an idea of where to look to get a simple gauge working I may be able to figure it out from there. Thanks in advance John
  12. Oh yea. Here it is with the big gauge monitor.
  13. I might have to re-think the 26" gauge monitor. I plugged it up and starting creating a Helios profile for it. It gets HOT. I never really noticed it it when it was my main gaming screen. That was in the livingroom, which is much bigger and better ventilated than the room I'm in now. I tried the 16" and 20" screens but wasn't happy with those. I think I can do a 22" touchscreen though. So I ordered one on Newegg a couple of minutes ago. Anyone in the market for a 26",1920x1200 westinghouse monitor for cheap? I'll probably list all three of my extra monitors on Ebay. John
  14. That's a lot of views with no replies... So I ended up removing and doing a reinstall of DCS world and A-10. I must have had it pretty messed up 'cause everything's working perfectly now. I have my 3 39" main screens, a 26" gauge monitor, headtracking, and a Thrustmaster Warthog. Now I just have to finish putting together my flight chair and it will be photo ready. YEA!!! To those of you that created all this add-on software: YOU ROCK!!!!! Thank you for making a great Sim even more immersive and engaging. John
  15. Actually the CSMS, CMSP, AN_ALR69V, and DIGIT_CLOCK aren't working but the 3 radio ones are. Did something change in the latest DCS update?
  16. moved to another thread
  17. That was it. created the folder and put the files in it. Thank you very much. Now to decide if I need a touch screen monitor. I wonder if the sife would notice...:music_whistling: John
  18. So I'm giving Helios a go. Got it started up with the Loz 2.1 profile. Got all the viewports lined up and working. I can't get the buttons and gauges to work. The buttons "press" when I activate them but they don't do anything. I followed Loz's instructions but have had no-joy. I'm using a regular monitor. Eyefinity on the 3 main screens with the fourth monitor as monitor #2 int the AMD control center. DCS is windowed with aero disabled. Please help. John
  19. After spending hours reading posts and getting Helios working (YEA!) I messed up the RWR and clock. Along the way I had to do a reinstall of A-10 and moved so many files that I got confused. I'm using the Loz 2.1 Helios profile. The BMFCD.lua is correctly done. The 5 init.lua files are in the mod\a-10c\cockpit folders. What am I missing? John
  20. Don't give up. just lower your standards. triple screen main view with the mcfds, radar, cdu, and clock on another screen. If you have a well setup headtracker, using the cockpit buttons is easy. John
  21. Never mind. I just updated .NET and it started working.
  22. I have a 3 IR led active "cap" type clip. Unfortunately putting up a portion is not possible. What I'm thinking is to 1. loose the active IR led system. 2. Use faceAPI as the tracker source. 3. use a night-vision type USB camera. I'm wondering if the IR light from the camera's emitter will "light up" my face enough for the FaceAPI to distinguish my features even with a significant amount of IR background noise. Or will the back-light wash out my features to the camera. Will a "bright" IR source shining on my face for long periods be harmful? John
  23. I think I only installed 1 layer of floppy disk in my camera. I was kind of hoping I could loose the hat and sensor array. I bought 2 Microsoft VX-800 cameras. I think I'll take them back and get a nightvision camera just to try it out. John
  24. Every once in a while I will turn on my computer and Eyefinity is not on, so I have to re-enable it. Then I have to reset the bezel size. I will usually be off a couple of pixels one way or the other. The problem is that it alters the placement of the MFCD's and RWR that are set up on a seperate screen. Is there a way to just type in the bezel comp instead of eyeballing it with the big yellow arrows? Thanks. John
