  2. I saw this on page 449 "Engage all SAS and anti-skid. Press the paddle switch on the control stick to confirm all SAS and Anti-skid disengage. Engage all SAS for remainder of flight." I guess it does do something. John
  3. Thank you for your replies. I think the pinky paddle would be good for the trim modifier. John
  4. Sorry, I wasn't very clear. There is a three position switch on the left engine throttle control. I've played around with it but it doesn't seem to do anything. this is on the warthog controller in DCS A-10. The pinky paddle is not used in the A-10? Why is it there then? John
  5. I've done all the training mission. Not once did I use the pinky switch. whats it do? John
  6. I've just arrived at this thread via a link another member gave me. I have no idea what you guys are talking about but I can tell when I'm being hornswaggled. Mr. Zarthrag seems to be full of ballon juice. I could be wrong and will humbly admit it with proof to the contrary. John
  7. Thank you for the info. I'm currently running 3 screen Eyefinity at an acceptable (to me) framerate. But when I ran Helios the sim became a slide show. That's why I'm looking for a different solution. I don't want to lower my ingame settings as I'm a fan of the eye candy. John
  8. Thank you for that very informative video. I've been shot out of the sky three times trying it but I did finally get a kill. John
  9. Would it be possible to link two computers together and use 1 for your gauge monitors and 1 for the main graphics? I've seen this done in the MS flight simulator franchise. Maybe have 2 purchased copies of the game. set up a multiplayer game. Then put the second computer in some sort of spectator mode and only have a helios display on that computer. Just thinking out loud. John
  10. Ok, got it working. My FPS went from 24 to 11 sitting on the runway. Taking off was a slide show. This is on a heavily cooled and overclocked 6970 2Gb card. I'm thinking maybe I need to find another solution. John
  11. I hope so. I've looked for this answer that has probably been answered a gazillion times. I have my 3 1920x1080 Eyefinity (desktop 1) monitors and a 4th 1920x1080 (desktop 2) monitor. I've followed Gadroc's direction to install all of the a10 files in their correct location. I've installed helios and tried to run it. I receive the error "Can not display this profile because it has an invalid monitor configuration. Please open the editor and select reset monitors from the profile menu." I've done this with no joy. What am I missing? John
  12. I have 3 39" monitors for my main screen and would like to have a gauge screen. I have 3 widescreen monitors to choose from, 16", 20", 25.5", which one would be best to use for the cougar MFD's and gauges? Do I need Helios to accomplish the task? Does anyone have an existing config they would be willing to share? Thanks, John
  13. these things are great. there was some concerned they would be too big (as if). the wife will actually sit in a comfy chair behind me and read or play with her iPad. she watches me play my games and will comment on the game sometimes. She bought my headphones too; they're Turtle beach true 5.1 surround headphones that you can hear ambient sound through. Smart gal. the MFD's are very sturdy. Haven't mounted them yet. Still deciding which monitor to use for the dashboard. I may go with the 25.5" in portrait mode (not sure). One of the guys here had a nice Helios dashboard I may use the configuration for. John
  14. The pro's of an HMD: FOV, headtracking, immersion. the cons: headtracking lag, low resolution, limited game support, can't see your controls. I looked at the Sony HMZ-t2 but didn't want a 45 degree FOV and a 720p resolution. The Oculus Rift promises a neer 180 degree FOV but at an even lower resolution that the Sony. I believe 3 monitors with headtracking will be the way to go for some years to come. John
  15. hit the CLR (clear) button whenever you get an input error. I think it is 1500 but am not at home to verify. John
  16. UPS just dropped off my 3 new Coby 39" TVs. $309 each with free shipping from Amazon. Frickin' unbelievable. I spent 3 hours setting up the screens but they are clear and bright. I have my old 25.5" that I'm going to set up for MFDs and gauges. To top it off my wife just bought me a Thrustmaster Warthog and MFD panels. Woohoo... I'm off to go get shot out of the sky a few times. John
  17. Didn't work for me. I have the 1.13b installed. Unistalled that one and installed the 1.10b. It's not a green screen anymore but I get the message "can't load DLL". Any ideas? Thanks. John
