-+- See 4-engine prop job at about 2:50 . My ride to Cuba in 1977 for a SeeBee's remodeling job.. That plane and me were Navy Reserve, then. https://www.google.com/search?q=voodoo+jet+fighter&rlz=1C1BOHD_enUS487US526&oq=Voodoo+jet+&aqs=chrome.3.0j69i57j0l4.11476j1j8&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 I am guessing this video is a year or two before VietNam.

Somewhere on forums a guy showed how to mod a .lua file so the pilot sits closer to the instrument panel in cockpit. It was just a matter of changing some numbers. I don't know where I saw it or what file to modify. Anybody know how it is done ?

I fly lately Multiplayer on Blue Flag and 104th servers. Landing on FARPs I can rearm and refuel with Ka-50 and Mi-8 with engines on, rotor(s) spinning. Depends on how the radios are set for intercom use with the ground crew. UH-1H has an intercom capable radio : C-1611/AIC Signal Distribution Panel (Chapter 7.1.1 of the DCS UH-1H Huey Flight Manual) . Any of you guys successful in-game play as title above query ? If so , what are the radio(s) settings ? -+- Concerning Mi-8 : It took me couple days to figure out the radio settings : see Message 2 https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=137218 Concerning Ka-50 : I never used the radios until Ciribob created his Blue Flag war scenario. Very simple setting to use the intercom. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3400308&postcount=334

104th Phoenix - Operation Longbow - Dynamic PvP Mission
DieHard replied to 104th_Maverick's topic in Multiplayer
Couple days ago and before Patch 4 came out, I took Ka-50 to Blue side's Gali FARP and got really close to their FARP but other side of the tree forest. Machine gun fire went under the trees and got me bad enough as to a slow hydraulic leak. I was only inches off the ground. Apparently gun fire can go under the trees! -

Yesterday I was at Senaki in Ka-50 on the pad and Blue was right there with a Huey deploying troops immediately when the Red ground vehicles (GVs) were killed off, so Red could not even start our copters. When a base is about to change, have troops ready to deploy on the copter and rotors spinning to takeoff immediately to get the upper hand or at least an interesting troop to troop firefight. -

In Mi-8 I can re-pickup my troops if I deploy too close to my FARP pickup zone. Out in the field I think I can also re-pickup the troops, but my memory is lousy, so need to experiment some. -

I started at Red's FARP Eagle in Mi-8, picked up Manpad troops there and flew the hills to FARP Zimo to place them close to the FARP at Zimo. So I unload Eagle's troops and FARP Zemo says I returned them to base and they did not delpoy as when I pick them up at the same base. Mi-8 resupply playing Red side is a bit of a joke, eh? And the Red manpads fire their rockets just one time. I sat in my shutdown copter not too far away and watched them do their thing. USA portable man held rocket launcher is only a one time use thing in real life back in the 80's . Please prove me wrong if multiple shots use does really work. Would be nice to see Zemo have resupply capability or realistic defenses. Blue's Maverick FARP is the same thing I am pretty sure, definitely undefended there. Kutasi is pretty close by, though. It is what it is and just have to accept it as it is... Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
DieHard replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
re: #4466 Does server run on a 24 hour clock including night ops? Almost everybody in DCS strives for realism, yet always daytime, always fair weather... Ran a search query this thread for "nightime" , without the quotation marks. In over 4,000 messages #4466 was the only result. -
Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9

I fly the copters mostly. I have never had a negative problem landing at airbase or FARP and not using a radio. Been with DCS since BS1 . And mostly fly Multiplayer. I use my lights so other know where I am (including the enemy!). I look around to get the big picture. I stay away from the runway pattern and usually come in the back way and land near the tower for refueling and rearming. FARPs I stay aware of my surroundings even in pitch-black night conditions. -

DieHard replied to 104th_Maverick's topic in Multiplayer
Been flying Red----side. In Chat, typed, "Where are you guys working at?" A smart a$$ comes on and says, "Novo" . And clearly we were working much further south. That kind of negative participation turns me off. And people wonder why there are so many lone-wolfs flying about on the Phoenix server. -

re: Message #411 --------------------- Now, SRS is not a problem. I think I have it down. And it works! The learning curve for me for just about anything where I am teaching myself is usually a difficult learning process. At least the SRS forum has a good feedback opportunity, there are other forums and there is YouTube. Main negative issue for me was within the current DCS-SRS - CLIENT ; GENERAL tab "Audio Preview" testing utility, my radio microphone was always on and creating any kind of button or switch did not occur. What I found out was going to the Blue Flag server and actually trying it out with the smaller radio popup --- "toggle radio overlay" . I found out using the popup utility the radios work just fine once tuned to the correct frequencies for the specific aircraft. Other issue is, I never actually used the Black Shark's radios; so HAD to learn how to use them properly. And Mi-8 is relatively new and still need to learn its radios. No worries now, except getting other people to use it. Ciribob, you are one very intelligent guy to create such an outstanding creation out of thin air!! +1 =================================== I am totally self taught with using PCS. In high school our computer was the slide rule, we did not even have hand held basic calculators, yet. And I never took a dedicated course. And I built my 1st PC from scratch about ten years ago. So like any programming out there, I never even had a basic introductory course. DCS Forums is my classroom!! -

Going to begin exploring your "Blue Flag" server. I want to play in round 10. How do I apply to join up? I fly RED copters---both. Any copter squads out there that needs another guy? My SRS is up and running. Hope your server is better thought out than the others that are up using your similar gaming theme. Used to fly Ka-50 on the now defunct S-77th sever (Devilman) that was out of Tasmania. Most those guys are now F99th using the Nevada map. -

I am retired. I have lots of free time and only need 4 to 6 hours of sleep. PO's my wife. I am up all different hours. Nice and quiet in the house after 11 PM. Night missions play at all times of the day or night or wee early AM hours New York, USA time zone. -

Both mods pass the Integrity Check. Maybe Eagle Dynamics should put these 2 guys on their payroll or at least as advisers... NVG quality with or without the mods is the same! Just better able to see the cockpit instruments. -
_________________________CH_PRODUCTS I use Capt Crunch's well thought out Ka-50 profile for the Fighterstick, Pro Throttle and Pro Pedals. I asked his permission to use it when I 1st got started with BS1 . He has TIR5 Pause & Re-Center and TS3 mapped within the program. http://www.ch-hangar.com/ http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/index.php?/files/ http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/index.php?/files/file/131-dcs-blackshark/ I use this profile with the CH Control Manager version 4.52 . (There IS a newer version.) -+- TrackIR 5 throws me. Difficult to hold my head steady with fine tuned moves is why I quit using it. I did a cerebral hemorrhage at age 50, 16 years ago. But I will force myself around the disability and try to use the gun optics system. Since Blue Flag has been around, ground attack air combat in MP is real fun and some of the other servers are copying Ciribob's style of gaming in DCS. Thanks for your comments.

I like night ops in the Ka-50 and Mi-8. Flying copters in the daytime in MP is suicide! Both copters have great NVGs. -
Best cockpit lighting I have ever seen for the Ka-50 for night ops. Thaaaaank You !!

DieHard replied to 104th_Maverick's topic in Multiplayer
Using Mi-8 at FARP Zemo placed manpad units all around the FARP far enough out that the troops did deploy. A little bit later on a Harrier came through and on 3 separate high speed passes (I was there!) killed off all the GVs. Not one manpad unit fired rockets or gun fire. 104th' current server is a bit flawed playing RED-side. Red-side negative crap needs to be fixed. -
+1 Thanks for the tips.

Night Time Analog Cockpit Dials Have No Backlight Illumination
DieHard replied to DieHard's topic in General Bugs
Mi-8 Cockpit Lighting 2.5 OpenBeta is working good in pitch-black conditions wee hours this morning using the 104th's MP server. Experimented various setups, all 4 methods, Deferred Shading On or Off. There are 2 dome lights, 6 circular rheostats, a working NVG, a flashlight and a rotary knob behind the #2 pilot. Mi-8 is looking good, now. -+- Ka-50 still needs to be fixed. Compare night ops using the 1.5.8 version.
