Mi-8 Cockpit Lighting 2.5 OpenBeta is working good in pitch-black conditions wee hours this morning using the 104th's MP server. Experimented various setups, all 4 methods, Deferred Shading On or Off. There are 2 dome lights, 6 circular rheostats, a working NVG, a flashlight and a rotary knob behind the #2 pilot. Is looking good, now.

104th Phoenix - Operation Longbow - Dynamic PvP Mission
DieHard replied to 104th_Maverick's topic in Multiplayer
When I did Builder A-School 1974 in the Bees, one of the guys\classmates was an E-5 former aircraft carrier top deck guy airdale on his 2nd enlistment and was changing ratings. Ditto had a Nam E-5 Marine that changed to Navy with us doing same. -

Both ways. I will experiment. Thanks for the tips idea. -
Old thread, yeah, but I am looking for a consistent method of repeating my moves. Other day on 104th's server shot down a moving Huey as he took off from quite aways away with a Vikhr missile and locked him up with my Shkval and its Laser. There are targeting push-button settings on the left-side console. I was stationary in a hover within less than the Vikhr's 8K range. Tried it again today as Huey was landing and missed twice. Missile exploded as an air burst nearby but not a direct hit. For your information, 99th-Cooper has YouTube videos up doing it also to the jets. Never say never. It is doable! Yes, DCS is a game, yes a realistic sim, but still a game. Can be done in real life? I dunno' . But it can be done on the 104th's server!

I am not a newbie with the Ka-50. I usually use the Vikhr missiles. When I use the cannon, I use it in fixed state and use the aiming circle on the HUD. I do have TrackIR 5 but usually do not use it as it messes up my orientation and brain fog or whatever it is. I have a need to use TrackIR 5 with the gun and unguided rockets in active combat on the 104th's MP server. Years ago I had the Microsoft boxed edition of Gunship. Does the Ka-50's optical sight work similar as to where I look, the gun follows my eye movement where I aim to aim? You guys suggest any good videos how-to? Thanks

104th Phoenix - Operation Longbow - Dynamic PvP Mission
DieHard replied to 104th_Maverick's topic in Multiplayer
I frequent often enough the 104th server since the 2.5 OpenBeta. My observation is, nothing much has changed on the 104th server, still mostly air-to-air duels by the airdales (Navy-speak). Side-note : I have SRS radio properly setup. Red-side does not use it, at least not on the GCI frequency. -

With help by other Red-side guys, cleared all Blue-side ground vehicles with Ka-50 to Sukumi airbase yesterday and flew around the area not getting shot at in daytime to verify no hostile action remained. Later flew in night-time conditions flew in to Sukhumi with Mi-8 carrying one set standard troops, landed at airbase, released troops. Base did not change to Red-side occupied. -
I fly Ka-50 with the 3-amigos push buttons (Bank, Pitch and Heading) and usually use the Flight Director push button using a CH Products Fighterstick. I use the "Central Position Trimmer Mode" selection in OPTIONS \ SPECIAL tab for the Ka-50 . I usually fly freehand in Flight Director not using the Autopilot Route Mode switch found on the collective stick. And trim as is necessary. See Chuck's Guide Chapter 3, page 27 I think : ============================== https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-uSpZROuEd3OTdRSGhSSGtCTzQ/view If you have CH Products gear, there is a really great profile available for download at CH Hangar by Capt Crunch which is what I use. If you want to try my DCS Axis Tune controllers profile just ask me. I'm usually flying currently on "Operation Longbow" on the 104th's server, usually night missions and which Ka-50 excels at. I learned Ka-50 first. Mi-8 does trim the same as the Shark, but I also use the Mi-8's autopilot as instructed in its Flight Manual and mapped a button for "Adjust Autopilot" and I ask the Flight Engineer for help as needed; how-to directions are in the DCS Flight Manual for the Mi-8. My experience? Flying the Ka-50 is easier.

Fly MP using 104th's "Operation Longbow" in copters. Enemy radar equipped aircraft have no problem seeing me, even in the dark!
-
I never see anything in MP ever flying in bad weather conditions. Everything is clear sky. At least, some servers do have 24 hour servers up with night ops, but few, VERY, VERY FEW attend! Even with NVG, cannot see very far...

What would you expect from a carrier modul by ED?

re : Message #1 Have been around awhile doing PC flight sims since 1985. I have had, by other companies, F-14, Harrier, F-18, etc. I expect from DCS >>>> THE_BEST_THERE_IS !!! DCS should be charging everybody a membership fee to fund these guys for adequate cash flow! - - And hope Pop and his guys come over and quit using Prepar3D ======================================== http://vcw-8.com https://www.facebook.com/vcwcom/?pnref=story https://www.vrsimulations.com https://indiafoxtecho.blogspot.com/search/label/T-45C -
My brother got me for Christmas a few years back a small sized Android Tablet. It was a cheapy and not much battery life to it. Messed with it about 5 minutes, said "phooey" and gave it to my wife. My 1st DCS module purchase was Black Shark 1 , a boxed edition I purchased at Best Buy around 2010 or so. I also found its spiral bound book that goes with it and published by DCS , copyright was 2009. And what an ordeal and a joy learning the Ka-50 and at least I had a book how-to for reference. Biggest hurdle for me, my generation, graduated high school 1970, is almost all the DCS aircraft only have virtual books and not easy for me learning new stuff. Several months ago I was reading forums and some guy suggested using a tablet to put the flight manuals on, to read, and easy access to the pages via the search function. And can have it open on my desk while flying the aircraft. I now actually have a REAL kneeboard! So, I purchased a 10 inch Amazon Kindle Fire Tablet through Amazon online. Man, what a joy now it is learning to fly my aircraft inventory. I always seem to be a ways back keeping updated on the lateset PC trends and I subscribe to the magazine, "MaximumPC" , so there is really no excuse me being so ignorant. Hope this info helps somebody.

Your solution, Message #2, is still current and works nicely with the 2.5 OpenBeta on the 104th's MP server mission, "Operation Longbow" . Thank you very much!! I use VHF, ICS up, FM up, Mike down and 127.500 frequency center console with "" radio menu on 104th.

Arming Mi-8 on Red FARP re: Message #135 this thread : (https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=200184&page=14) Yes, found this out, too at Guadata, yesterday. And Mi-8 and me are just getting acquainted. Have had Mi-8 since 2014 on a sale for $20. Played with it some. Am definitely no expert with her, yet. Spent several hours, wee hours this morning searching for an answer using Google and YouTube. Just fueled up and armed first time out at the farthest northern Red FARP via 104th's "Operation Longbow" in MP with engines running, rotors spinning. Works with all the weapons and refueling and also adding troops and cargo; (edit) and at another FARP I started at. Follow this person's advice , but for me in 2.5 , ICS switch is up, I switched the SPU-7 radio dial to VHF using FM; forgot to switch to AM. I left the center console radio rotary numbers as is at their default coming into the game. Mike (microphone) switch is up. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=137218 https://www.slideshare.net/Strut1/229th-ahb-mi8-ka50-radio-systems-47959450 I am using Devrim's latest English mod that is added to Saved Games and am not using JSGME. ( Devrim : Thank you very much! ) Hope this helps somebody out there. -
Huey pilots during Viet Nam used early generation NVGs. Do some research. You can mod your aircraft for Single Player use. See here : Just a matter of time, the modding folks figure out workarounds for 2.5 .

Link to Frenchy's tint/shade greenish color NVG : =============================== https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2539912 What I have seen recently in current 2.5 OpenBeta, 3rd patch, on 104th's server in MP (night ops and daytime, too) is a flat gray color. Any chance of improving the NVG to Frenchy's standard at some point in time? Have not tried out NVG in Su-25T or A-10C , yet. Tried running Frenchy's mod in Multiplayer and got a no-go as to the MP Integrity Check for whatever the reason is. A video of a guy experimenting with Frenchy's mod couple years ago (not MP) : =================================================

104th Phoenix - Operation Longbow - Dynamic PvP Mission
DieHard replied to 104th_Maverick's topic in Multiplayer
Maverick, It's your server, do what you want. I still like playing on your server and thanks for "Operation Longbow" . Paid a return visit to Blue's FARP Phoenix. Looks to me the SAM's defenses are more lethal by extending their radar trigger zone. Ka-50 max kill-range is 8K out, maybe a bit further by Kentucky-windage, and not easy to approach there. Are you doing same for Red to equalize --- (Ha, Ha) "team-balance" ? Yeah, I have seen your disclaimer! ?? I don't give up easily. Copter front-line activity is short lived. I like visiting behind the lines. -
NEW KA50 ??? > Ka-50Sh or Ka-50N

My cats say I smell great! Walking in my neighborhood my cats always can find me, as to stink. The cats tend to know who the softies are as to free lunch. -
NEW KA50 ??? > Ka-50Sh or Ka-50N
DieHard replied to Ghost_Dragon03's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
DCS has a Modding Forum that used to be a lot of fun, even online. Guys made everything. But the last couple years MP has a server side integrity check that limits certain mods use as "unfair advantage" . Later Ka-50 development is tandem seating (side-by-side) !! -
I am age 66. You are more "battle damaged" than me; but I usually hurt pretty good. Been using the CH Products Rudder Pedals almost 10 years >>> the original set! (tamper seal is still intact!) Paid around $100 new, then. Problem with the pain meds is it messes up my head!! I can't play the sim doped up.

As to Ka-50 as a night fighter ? Just depends how extensive a search you want to do. The info is out there. https://www.militaryfactory.com/aircraft/detail.asp?aircraft_id=286 Remember, OUR Ka-50 was a single issued prototype! (I think this statement is true. I may be wrong. Need to do a better search on this topic.) Search for "night" within this article : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kamov_Ka-50
