Look at the central, lower console, in front of the stick. The Brightness and Contrast rotary dials are there. A cheat? How so? Maybe learn how to use the system... I have no problem hitting locked targets at night even beyond the supposedly 8K maximum range. Look up Cooper. Think he now goes by F99th Cooper, he flies in MP, with the F99th guys. He is the best Ka-50 jock I have come across. Also see his YouTube videos how-tos .

Play on a MP (multiplayer) server. I like : 104th, F99th; I truly miss the old S-77th. I have never liked any of the DCS pre-canned missions for Single Player in 7 years of playing this sim.

I almost always fly at night in Ka-50. I fly MP 99% of the time, various servers, either map. My PC is a Dell Alienware Aurora custom build since 2011, modded with hardware updates over the years. My Alienware monitor has built-in color adjustments to play with for better viewing. ================================ The mod works for me. Years later I am still undecided about the mod. I usually don't use it, but i am red / green color blind and USA Navy said so >>> LOL! May have done this manually as the update folders/subfolders layout probably changed with the updates. Got to watch out the older mods, the folder structure most likely has changed. I always take a look as to what is current, then experiment. But usually if you search the DCS forums and/or YouTube somebody else already discovered any negative issues. My JSGME layout : Under OpenBeta , then _MODS, then my folder Ka-50 Toby's Green Screen SHKVAL, then Mods, then aircraft, then Ka-50, then Cockpit, then Indication Textures (which is the guts of the download package. I did not include the dirty windows portion of the mod.) When an update patch gets added, drop off your JSGME adds (double left arrow on the utility box) or what is up most likely will get corrupted and end up useless) Have fun guys.

Me, too. My surname is German, family came over to America with William Penn (German Dutch), but I don't speak it. My 1st tool and die shop where I started out, the guy I worked under was from Berlin. He spoke English with a heavy German accent. He was born during WWII there. He told me all German's after the war learned English as a secondary language. Never have done Ka-50 with a dedicated squad. Might be interesting...

I did not know that. I takeoff in Flight Director mode. Stay on the FARP too long, I get blasted. That explains why my digital speed indicator does not show up right away on the HUD. I also use the analog gauges. 104th server sorties I fly at night!!

Took me about 2 years to get good with Ka-50 and started with BS1. Ka-50 for me performs pretty good lately 2.5 OpenBeta and the latest 3rd patch. Some negative issues with NVG on the 104th's night ops sorties with weird shadow effects that actually sometimes obscure vision. Mine hovers just fine. Understanding how to setup properly and using autopilot properly is the key. I taught myself, trial and error. I consider myself 90% or so proficient flying her. I usually fly cross-country freehand in Flight Director mode and use various navigation utilities to plan my flight while I am in flight : F10 map, kneeboard map, etc. Also print stuff out for reference beforehand. I use the 3 main blue light autopilot push buttons all the time. My favorite hobby is to sneak behind enemy lines, way back, and create havoc. Not telling how. Hard enough to evade enemy fighters; not giving my tactics away. I use a pre-programmed controllers setup for my CH Controls trio for the Black Shark that "Capt Crunch" created for BS1 using the CH Control Manager and is very well thought out. Ask Pop... He is former USA Navy, Viet Nam vet. Pop is always looking for guys to fly his way in sim Navy flight ops. The platform he is using is a bit pricey compared to DCS. Maverick, THANKS for the all night dark server setup wee hours this morning. Flew Ka-50 for several hours to a Blue airbase using NVG setup and maximum Gamma in Options/System. Cockpit lighting isn't perfect, yet, but works good enough. Looks like DCS/ED has been experimenting with added Ka-50 lighting since last Beta patch.

re: Message 129 I have the English translation cockpit, I think mine is Devrim's mod. All my radio power switches are up on the cockpit right-side panel. In Ka-50 rotate SPU-9 Radio communicator selector clockwise to the last selection GRND CREW . This all by itself will allow NVG installation and refueling and first time arming, and rearming later without powering off engines and rotor shutdown. Did the procedures with the cockpit door closed on the 104th server. I usually take the 2 external fuel tanks, inside positions next to the fuselage. I set the Fuel Pumps EXT Inner switch (right side panel) to the up position for the inside fuel tank positions. When refueling, I found to guarantee full external tanks, first rearm empty stores but ask for 100% fuel. After checking you have 100% fuel, then go through the process again asking for primary external weapons and external fuel tanks. Learned this half-way to target area and internal tanks were emptying and external tanks were empty. Cheers!

Yes! Fly 104th's server at night time conditions , usually wee hours NY time to see cockpit instrument illumination is not working or some of it that does is way too dim >>> compared to my Black Shark experience since 2011. 2.5 is in Beta for a reason. Just be nice to the developers. They want us to report the odd-ball stuff. Over time I am sure these quirks will be fixed properly. -+- I have noticed a few times mis-labeling of controls and even doubling with the same control's commands to 2 different controls in "Adjust Controls" . My setup I have pre-programmed controllers thru CH Control Manager. I just re-type DCS side "Options\Controls" and change control commands to what I had in 1.5 .
