I'm sure you saw my other post DM, but I'm in on a set. Two if it will help.
-
Hey DM, I'm in for a set of decals.
-
Ah. I was a bit confused. I wasn't sure if you were just talking about just the panels or if really included hardware and electronics. I must say, it's an incredible deal. You must take into account your time, don't you think? The only panel I am in need of personally is the Landing Gear Panel. Let me PM you about something else. Thanks.
-
Ok, I'm curious now. What all is that including?
-
Curious if anyone is making landing gear panels lately? (Or any of the various components it holds?) I know Agrasyuk had a run awhile back, but know he's pretty busy now. Thanks.

Hey DM, Why the book is a great idea! :smilewink: You know where I stand on the whole thing. And yes, I would be interested.

Being caught up in RL for the past week or so, I have completely missed seeing the posts of your new toy. Wow, what an amazing opportunity and find you have made, DM. Truly the ultimate. You have the pleasure in restoring a Bentley while most of us are trying to piece together a Model T with stuff you can only find at Home Depot. :) In all seriousness though, great job and I really hope it provides many hours of fun restoring and flying. (Didn't have to take out a second mortgage, did you? :D )

Very nice job on the UFC! Kudos!

Good luck! Only advice I can really say at this point is what I personally have major problems with. Patience! :) I get excited and rush getting something done just so I can use it. It then doesn't look as good as it could and you wind up wanting to, and then finally redoing it. Oh yeah, one more thing. Most every question you have has been addressed already. Unfortunately, it's a little difficult searching for something that your not quite sure how to phrase so the search works. The one thing I've found that gives me more answers than questions is going through every thread and post of some of the bigger playerson this board. You'll know the ones because they'll have like 50+ pages in their thread. Hope this helps, but you probably know most of it anyway, so again, good luck!

That's pretty awesome, DM. Congrats. I sure didn't see that on eBay... :) great job on the find and can't wait to see it. Unfortunately your right in that sounds like it was in the opposite direction from me, I still would have liked to come along to help you out. (And see the real secret source for your wonderful toys. ;) )

I'm not sure if I'm just doing something idiotic, or if I'm really having a problem with a switch or something in the wrong position. I'm using Helios with an A-10C build with great success. One difficulty I'm having is my HSI is always backwards. If I'm going North, it shows South. If I turn West, it turn the compass card East. I'm a little flummoxed, and was wondering if anyone else ever came across the same thing? Thanks.

Digital-To-Synchro converter for interfacing real aircraft indicators
MacFevre replied to brydling's topic in Home Cockpits
Why yes, yes I do. :) (Or will.) -
HarSu, you are truly an inspiration to us all! Thanks!

Well done. I know I do entirely too few updates myself. ;)

TM Warthog right throttle dead
MacFevre replied to Galwran's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I too have had a problem with my right throttle. I thought for awhile I would just have to gang the two together and use them as one. I was noticing though, that the throttle would suddenly start working if I pushed it hard to the right side. I opened it up and made some "adjustment," and now it works great. Just wondering, have you tried moving it around side to side as you move the throttle up? -
I liked the rail idea. I've been searching for a way to incorporate a mouse/keyboard into my pit without interrupting the flow of the realistic settings. I've been looking for some kind of wall mounted arm, but never thought of a slide that would move over a side console. Props MnW!
-
And the same with me. :) Unfortunatly, I do have a bunch of other guages I've been accumulating. Don't know how I'm going to interface them yet, but I have them. It's one of those "one of these days" project. What I really need are the T guages. I have the engines, but the Ts are the expensive ones! ;)

It looks pretty cool. Very early stages, of course, but it's an Instructable, so complete directions included. http://www.instructables.com/id/Arduino-Pneumatic-Flight-Simulator/

Incredible job with the O2 bottle! Can't wait to see what's next. Will definitely be following.
-
That would have been really cool, had it been a bit less expensive... Before I saw the price tag, I was checking and saw they were about 2 hours from where I live. Thought about swinging down there and see if they had anything available for non-military purposes. When I first saw your post about the puck sitting on the newspaper, the first thing I thought of was the half-round magnifying domes that my grandmother used to use. :) http://www.domemagnifier.com/

That is really cool that frankly, I don't think I would have had the nerve. It does answer a few questions that I had about the construction of those panels. So Thanks!

That's actually a great start. Just know if you really get the bug, it will never end! :D Even if you think you've completed your pit, it will never be done... Suddenly when you say "Whew! Honey, I think it's finally done!" And she says "Fantastic! It's about time!!" You'll be looking over it and see something that could use a little extra attention here. "Maybe I could start with a cheap VSI I found on eBay and make it look even more real..." Next thing you know, you'll be one of those people you used to read about. You probably know what I'm talking about. Shaking your head as they explain to the reporter (standing there in the photo next to the reporter and the sim in full flight gear, holding a HGU/55p helmet) explaining that they just started small, and the next thing they knew, they had about $10,000 USD wrapped up in the thing. Laughing to yourself saying, "Boy this guy is crazy! Who would spend that kind of money on a home simulator!" :music_whistling: Good luck and keep us posted!

 So how is it finally being able to be in a wrap around pit?
-
I'm still not a hundred percent sold on the el panels, so if you decide that direction, please let us know how it works out. (Especially if you use inverters. Now they can be loud!) I haven't bothered bonding the panels, but I would be very hesitant to bond any panel to the back panel. That's where you will be attaching, and if your anything like me, removing your switches. Your switches will be secured only to the back panel, and most of the top panels will completely cover the mounting nut. So your light plate usually has a greater diameter than the mounting nut, so by the time the top plate goes on, especially with your oval holes, it sits flush but still covers the nut. That's what the small #6 black Phillips pan head screws are for. Keeping the panels sandwiched so you don't need to bond. Just a thought. Good luck!

As an aside, here's some steam gauges that I've saved up. Hopefully I will implement these into the pit at a later date. (Thanks to Mikeshardware for explaining how, Gadroc and duckling for their sites and knowledge share, and Deadman for his ability to know the hardware and how it should be.) (I realize some aren't the correct gauges, but give me time. ;) )
