  1. This is exactly what we need! What we currently have is a "joke" as our pilots drift in and out of consciousness endless times without any consequences. At the moment it's quite unrealistic. Very popular WWII sim has this sorted out quite nicely. Namely all pilots start of fresh, but if you pull too many G's, for too many times your G tolerance goes down and you start being affected sooner. They also implemented loss of hearing, blurred vision and other effects. What we have in DCS is a vague approximation of the real thing. Also at the moment, I don't think that cockpit ergonomics has any effect on G tolerance in DCS, so what is the point of F-16 having inclined pilot seat and static control stick?
  2. What I tried to say @GGTharos, is that F-15A in FC would be inferior to Su-27S or MiG-29S 'cause of DL, ER/ETs and R-77s. Hence it made perfect sense to mix in the "C" version of the Eagle.
  3. AIM-120 does not contrail in DCS as can be seen by the following screenshots. There is just a faint smoke trail without any contrail being present. Second image is there as a reference.
  4. Or release it as open-source and let the community do the work they don't want to. Just my 2 cents.
  5. Balance comes from LOMAC (FC). It was very well balanced. A2A was F-15C vs Su-27S and MiG-29S/A with either side having its own advantages (Eagle with TWS/AMRAAM; Flanker with DL; Fulcrum with acceleration and R-77) I mean it would not be fun to fight against F-15A as it would be way inferior than the Flanker for example. Problem is that ED started an open arms race with the 3rd party modules and Russian/Soviet planes stayed behind with very slimm chance of ever catching up. Now we have a situation where only western airplanes are becomimg more and more modern and we (red drivers) are left in the dirt. Of course people are complainign and wanting better/newer platforms). I am talking about multiplayer experience.
  6. Would be awesome if someone can acknowlege this one. Thanks in advance.
  7. I am not 100% sure if this is the right forum section, but since it involves missiles, I decided to post it here. According to the Su-27 manual, the ECM jamming pods provide protections against radars and self-guided missiles. Now, this section doesn't really specify what exactly they mean by "self guided missiles" - probably ARH and/or IR. In DCS, ECM seems to do exactly opposite function of not degrading the fore mentioned weapons but rather acting like a magnet for them (AIM-120, R-27, AIM-7), or they don't do anything (AIM-9, R-73, R-27T). From the manual: Translated using an online translation service: Protection is carried out by jamming ground, ship and airborne radar systems (radar) for missile guidance and control, as well as self-guiding heads (GOS) package in order to reduce the likelihood of hitting the aircraft by them.
  8. Actually the SPO-15 device is not that informative as we have it in FC3. Currently we have radiation types classified as: airborne long/medium/short range SAM early warning radar AWACS This is, unfortunately not how the real SPO classification works :/, but in stead shows: "П" - F-4, F-104 "З" - Vulcan, Charapel, Sea Wolf "Х" - Hawk "Н" - Nike Hercules, Tapos, Patriot "Ф" - F-14, F-15, F-16, F-18 "С" - F-4, F-104, F-5, F-III, Mirage, Lightning, Jaguar I am not sure if it shows even friendly radars, but now I am entering the land of guessing. Interestingly the manual only mentions launch warning for the type "Nike Hercules" and nothing else. This diagram from MiG-29B shows all available HUD indications. I am afraid that there is no time-to-impact scale. One thing that real MiG does have is the ability to show target information fed by the GCI: #53 - range provided
  9. Guilty as charged. I have, however, spent 90% of my time in MP on the same server.
  10. Judging by the manual, it seems that FF will be more difficult to fly and a bit more limited compared to its FC3 counterpart. Helmet mounted sight, IFF, time-limited laser range finder just to name a few.
  11. Wait, what? I mean did I read this correctly? @SgtPappy I'm goinna go out on a limb here and assume you have never flown a R-27 carrying platform in DCS. Spamming chaff sucks, I hate it my self, but saying that the Alamo has more chaff resistance is just... a no-no. Please try it out next time in a Flanker/Fulcrum. Untill the latest updates which fixed their performance, Alamos were almost equivalent to rocket-powered stones.
  12. This time from an F-22 Raptor [timestamp 01:13]
  13. Here's another one: in this one one can clearly see that the AIM-120 produces no vapor initially only to leave a thick contrail second or two latter, once it entered the clouds. [timestamp 01:06] One also at 01:26 of the same video.
  14. I think chaff should screw with the missile's proximity fuse as well, but I am not 100% on that one.
  15. One can only notch at approx. 90 degrees (no relative radial velocity to the supporting radar), so this was certainly not notchin'. In DCS chaff act like flares, only for SARH/ARH missiles: you dump enough of them, and they will eventually decoy the missile.
  16. AMRAAM is smokeless yes, but according to this live AIM-120 shot, it should produce contrails when conditions are right. In the video the shooting platform (F-35A) is not con-trailing, but the missile is, so I guess in DCS it should leave a contrail when ever the launching platform is con-trailing.
  17. Steps to take in these kind of situations: 1. Don't look outside much - seeing the terain and then suddenly not seing it anymore, will leave you in a state of despair and prevent you from doing the most important thing: flying. 2. Check your altimeter. This will instantly tell you if you are climbing or descending. Unintentional climb? No problem, just level the wings and monitor the airspeed. Airplane will eventually stop the climb. Unintentional descent? Level your wings! Then start a slow pull back to level flight. I have years of experience flying sims and I still crash sometimes due to disorientation. Don't trust your eyes. Trust your instruments!
  18. Some months ago R-73s were tracking AIM-120s. Not sure if this was fixed in the meanwhile.
  19. I would love to see it on the Fulcrum, Flanker also. It's just that I saw this particular example in a F-15 video. I know, know for example, that laser ranger on MiG-29 jumps a bit also when engaging airborn targets - a target flare at least. I love this "non-binary" states which IMHO enhance this otherwise sterile "perfect world" impression. Something like, how wing buffeting occurs at high AoA and the entire cockpit starts vibrating (which we already have in FC3).
  20. I was just hoping for an effect, rather than actual machinery behind it. I think I assumed wrongly that it's "G" related, it looks more like it's dependent on the rate of which the target passes a cross the HUD. Just some random subtile wiggle would make it look much more realistic IMHO.
  21. In this RL HUD video of the Eagle, one can see that the box surrounding the target is not perfectly tracking, but rather stuttering and wiggling around it. I guess the higher the G load, the higher the stutter. Could we have this implemented in the Eagle? I think it will improve immersion immensely.
  22. That's why you should fly "Red" fighters exclusively. The R-27R/ER were crap (compared to AIM-120) since the AMRAAM's upgrade, so after a while you get used to it. For me, the Meteor will just be an AMRAAM on steroids, but for you guys (shooting Slammers), it might be time to adjust.
  23. We could rally up as a community and develop it ourselves - provided someone has documentation though.
  24. Could also happen in cases when the launching platform is outside your RWR's limits.
