I'm no expert on the A-10, but that was my thought too. As soon as the CDU and EGI are powered on it begins the ground alignment. As others have said, you need to wait until it says 4.0.0.8 on the CDU which takes about 4 minutes. After that press Nav on the CDU, then on the dash (kind of hidden behind the stick) you push EGI. Now under the throttle is a switch called EAC. You switch that to ARM. That's it for the alignment process. It's worked flawlessly for me hundreds of times like that. No need to move the plane before you do that, otherwise it does an in-flight alignment which isn't as accurate and takes longer.

That video is crap to be honest. Take a look at the planes when they're flying over the tank. Certainly not A-10s flying by.

Thanks for the clarification. I'll patiently wait. :smilewink:

By other members in this thread. They assume they won't be able to afford it, yet I haven't heard any official price. Hence, my confusion.

Maybe you should tell us. Nobody but you knows that answer. How well do you like the A-10? As far as being outdated, it's not going to happen in a long time. So far DCS is the most advanced flight sim to date and nothing is really going to compete with it at this time. Besides, look at Falcon BMS. It's a redo by a community of sim released in 1998 and people to this day still play it.

Not quite understanding what is meant by being a founder. Are we talking $50 or $500? How would being a founder be any different to those who didn't kick in that extra money?
-
Aww man. I was waiting to spend my money. Now I need to wait longer. But some 3D models will be cool!

I seem to recall that early versions of the F-16 were prone to compressor stalls caused by missile exhaust. The F-35 will have it's bugs worked out in time. And it's hard to take anything seriously from that website.

BF3 has better AI than DCS. I think we can agree with that. Maybe if that is what concerns you then stick to those "sims". I like the flight sim aspect more than a realistic AI. I certainly don't play it for the AI. Realistic weapons? DCS does model bulled drop, wind, and many other ballistics. I'm not really sure what you mean by bugs and collision detection models. I personally have never experienced that in the year and a half I've played A-10C in anything from guns to mavericks to sidewinders to JDAMs to laser guided bombs to Mk-82s. Only times I've missed is due to my own mistakes. I'm personally getting tired of people comparing this sim to ARMA. Might as well compare Ford to Ferrari.

Could always just use the Ka-50. But I'm still probably going to end up purchasing this module. Add in a functional datalink and I'll be buying it so fast my head would spin.

I'm curious as to how much the stealth factor will play into this sim.

This was my initial concern too, but from their website they they they have more than enough information to make an accurate model of it's avionics. I'm very interested in this model. Too bad it's not the B variant though.

Multiplayer is much better than single player. I really wouldn't worry too much about single player. It's not like other games where you finish them then there is nothing to do.

X52 is a fine entry level joystick. I used it for 1 1/2 years with no problems. I only just recently acquired a TM Warthog HOTAS which is so much better if you're willing to drop $450 + pedals.

What parts of A10C can I skip over and learn later?
kk0425 replied to Dudester22's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
The manual makes a very good resource for locating information about a system in the A-10C and shouldn't be considered a waste of time for any skill level, but it's not meant to be read front to back. A healthy mix of training tutorials, reading up on the manual, and reading user guides or watching videos would be my best recommendation. Stick to one thing at a time until you have a basic grasp on it and then move on to the next. You'll gradually learn over time and it becomes second nature. -
Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
kk0425 replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Carrier ops has been confirmed? If so, that makes me even more excited for F/A-18C but I do want an F-16 really bad too. -
Came here to post this exact thing.

I've heard the Phenom is actually better than the FX in some applications. Besides DCS runs on 2 cores anyway and one is for sound. The other used core is for everything else.

Not sure why it explodes, but what Nealius said. And to add to it, the H and K versions can be used in force correlate mode. It allows you to launch at maximum range, but it doesn't track targets. Here is a video on how to do it: Edit: Okay and I actually took a look at the track. It seems like you were too far past your target and the mav couldn't make the turn, as you can see in the following 3 screenshots. The black dot on the ramp is your target and you can see that you're already past your target when you launch, but because of the steep dive the seeker was able to get a lock and not hit it's gimbal limits.. I'm not sure if they are supposed to blow up or go ballistic when that happens though.

Looks neat. Will there be a way for spectators to view the match in realtime?

I'm not seeing much of an issue with FPS drops, but hopefully EDGE will fix a lot of performance issues. The code is still supporting 32 bit operating systems and I've heard somewhere that ED will be dropping support for them soon due to them not being able to provide enough memory.
