  1. Nah... track corruption again - funny how they can never get this right ?? Track works fine on my PC.. https://www.dropbox.com/s/os22jhe0nfn1655/Long127.jpg
  2. Here's a track to spin through. Having not flown for a month or two, I'm busy toying with my new hardware, and the AI.. but it essentially shows that you can out-fly an opponent in the P51, even if you don't out-turn them. :-) long127Trk.trk
  3. Charly_Owl: Check that your stick calibration is linear - this helps somewhat. I think you're probably a bit over zealous with the stick at the moment. You can still do this but first get to know the limits. The P51 has plenty stall warning.. you just have to be aware of it. The stall warning is a slight aircraft vibration that is noticeable, but it comes quick and fast, and will catch the unwary. The way to handle it is be gentle on the elevator movements, pulling/pushing until the vibration starts, and then release the pressure a little. You don't have to turn tight in the P51.. it'll turn tight by itself, even without flaps.. but you have to hold it just below the stall region. This region moves up and down according to your speed. 'Practice makes Perfect' :-)
  4. Just bought these goodies 'in lieu' of putting a home-pit together. A question... Is DCS able to connect to these by default..Radio Panel, Multipanel and Switch panel. If not which non-saitek drivers are necessary.. and if there is nutting available could I get hold of the DCS 'instrument protocol interface' ?? If the image doesn't appear in attachments.. https://www.dropbox.com/s/xlcoabzspsknpab/SaitekPanels.jpg Thanks The Fred :-)
  5. I tried the gyro, but quickly switched it off.. I found that I was busy thinking about the sight technicalities, instead of working out the relative distances and angles of the aircraft in front - this took away the prediction factor which i find important when getting a deflection on the aircraft. :-)
  6. Nice Typhoon pic... the only problem is that the tank commanders look like they on holiday, instead of doing the same as the on on the lower left.
  7. You never know.. it doesn't seem like Oleg has anything to do with the Dora, then I expect an even fight, but with the short nose FW190, that Oleg promised (IOW better FM) then you're toast.., even if you're in a P51 :-)
  8. Krupi.. where do you get those books from ? Some IL2 stuff to make you panic with fear :-) https://www.dropbox.com/s/uobr63not6mn9km/Typhoon-v-FW190.avi https://www.dropbox.com/s/iltefdi67sefl4q/BigFWA.avi
  9. As in IL2.. I study the map, and remember key features.
  10. Busy learning all the 'short-commings' of the P51, so when my 'baby' arrives.. there's going to be a lot of P51 bits all over the place... :) A message to Wags and crew.. My next purchase is the FW190, before anything else.... I'm (we're) waiting.. :)
  11. Standing a few metres in front of this thing, at full power is.... f..reaking awesome... The ground was vibrating under our feet... Man!! what a rush.... https://www.dropbox.com/s/wripw7c1095l9qa/Shackleton1722.mp4 (63MB)
  12. I thought i might have 'overrevved', so kept away for a while.. Time to clear my thoughts : When flying any aircraft.. no matter what the stick length (or technology for that matter - sidestick).. you fly by all your senses. This doesn't change between a/c types, or Sim stick calibrations.. That example movie i put up.. I was always close to stall.. and i didn't even know what my calibration was ?? :)
  13. Imagine yourself trying to 'sight' me in Queen Of Hearts...I'd think that would be enough :-)
  14. I'm not a very good teacher (the wiff tells me so ) but I'll try :-) Look at this clip... I mean really look at it at few times Then tell me something, right or wrong - I'm open for ideas https://www.dropbox.com/s/een744kwlohrc9v/QOH4.f4v
  15. Then I'm afraid you have lost because you think you are different
  16. I actually don't calibrate my stick... I respond or move (so to speak) according to my stick/rudder responses.. as any real pilot would do.. Get my hint ?/
  17. @markwillaim: I agree with you in totality.. 110% But before we go anywhere.. THIS is nothing more than a PC game... Does is represent the real thing ... NO.. but it does come close in some scenarios. ? Does your stick, or calibration make any difference = NO.. Humans adjust to this, as in any aircraft - so the story about your stick is BS. There is definitely the 'PRO-CLUB' who do not want to hear the 'TRUTH', no doubt.. but these are the 'FAN' club.. What we really want to get hold of is the realists.. the real P51 'combat pilots'. I sit amongst pilots.... some are mavericks.. some are 'Yes people' Whose voice do you want to hear ?????
  18. A leetle bit of action around Camelot.. https://www.dropbox.com/s/een744kwlohrc9v/QOH4.f4v (83MB) :)
  19. I'm a response freak... a slight stick/rudder move and the a/c must react. :-)
  20. After days I still cannot seem to get this skin uploaded to the user site.. so you can download it from here.. https://www.dropbox.com/s/n4xw92jzwgkcw6y/Klonks%20P-51D%20Skin_.zip
  21. ???? You conclusion is illogical :-).. Pilot capabilities does make a big difference. The more aircraft the merrier.. preferably more than one prop aircraft :-) Silver_Dragon: The DCS P-51 seems to be true to the RL counterpart except for a few items.. but we can live with that. One cannot expect it to be absolute, after all, it is just a PC game. I wouldn't worry about what others want to 'bleet' about.
  22. As what Scottish says.. It also helps to 'lock' the leader (or other aircraft) with a fixed cokpit reference. IOW you're focus on keep the other aircraft in one place, rather than focusing on the aircraft itself.
  23. There's always going to be controversy, differences of opinion on any, and every aircraft. Every aircraft has it's pros and cons. World War 1 and early World War 2 aircraft were designed for dogfighting, except for a few aircraft.. the ME109 which was more of a strike aircraft = hit and run. The Spitfire's design was that good that it could do both - minus the early carburetors of course. The FW190 and P51.. were, I take a guess, the first real strike aircraft of WW2.Strike in the way that they had a lethal combination of fire power and speed, but were not designed for tight-turning dog fighting. What it amounted to, as always, was using the aircraft's strengths against the opposing aircraft's weaknesses. A good pilot will do this.. a bad pilot will criticize your aircraft. It's the pilot.. not the aircraft... as Oleg Maddox has always said. :-)
