  1. Gentlemen [and ladies of course as well] it has been a pleasure making my presence known on these forums, and the community has been both helpful and friendly, but I just wanted to say that my need for a high fidelity US aircraft has tempted me away from LOMAC. I wont name the sim I have moved to as that may seem to be bad form,[im sure many can guess once I mention it is old, and new,;) has a completely clickable cockpit, and the graphics are not near as good as LOMAC] but I will keep LOMAC installed and updated, and lurk here every so often to watch the patch progress for western platform updates. you have all been a credit to the memories I have of the old virtual squadrons whose boards I polluted since the time of Janes US Navy Fighters and Fighters Anthology (714th comes to mind). Thanks for all the help! peace, love, and splashing bandits! :drink: zoot
  2. no love for the saitek when it comes to scripting I guess...oh well
  3. that was a joke?, I thought he was actually an incarcerated inmate apologizing before his only social outlet was taken away. anyway, you go breadfan! everyone deserves a second , or third...or fifth chance!
  4. big bada boom
  5. I concur on the current position about excellent [foaming at the mouth with aggression, i think it was] I recently got shot down [i was in an F-15] by a ka-50 i that I regretably set to excellent and put a few A2A heaters on. ...stop laughing... anyway I look at it as a great accomplishment in mission building as opposed to a failure as a pilot in my defense I was in a low altitude turning fight with a mig-29 at the time.
  6. i use a saitek x36 [pretty old I know]
  7. I may be a little late, but if you are looking for cooling try "Thermalright" XP series IE=xp90, xp120, xp90c I have an xp-90 on my P4 3gig - oc'd to 3.3 and i run about 25degrees , highest ive seen is 35. my old athlon used to run 45 in the same case. dont take my word, some online accounts say this is the closest thing to watercooling and they run between 45-70 bucks got mine from newegg couple notes: to put in on some processors you will need a 5 dollar set of brackets, so make sure you do your research before you buy. mine needed the brackets. no big deal but heres some advice - use a thermal paste that is NOT conductive. installation isnt hard but I did drip a little onto the board at the very last second and did not want to remove the whole thing for one little drop. BTW system up and running no problems since last august. one other note: you will get this in your research but the model number has to do with the size of the fan you want to put on it[90/92 mm XP-90,120mm XP-120, the C means it is all polished copper-supposed to conduct heat better] I originally bought a tornado 5000rpm, was too loud so replaced with a low rpm fam and still have the low temps, but REMEMBER to have a case that will fit the heatsink because it is huge [you have to supply your own fan but installation is easy] hope this helps, let me know if you want more info
  8. shot in the dark jhere since I dont know jack about the KA 50, but is it possible that the guns you saw on the sides were gun pods? if so that could be your answer [chin mount and gun pods] just a guess
  9. Gunja, thanks for the screenshot! [i had figured it out right away, but i'm sure there are others who that screenshot will help]
  10. thanks, I saw the time entry many times, but I never thought to try to edit that, I thought it was information only thanks again
  11. the search function is not cooperating with me, can anyone tell me if it is possible to delay the takeoff of aircraft for a set amount of time... or in the alternative how to make non fighter AC takeoff when a player AC gets close [i assume you can make fighter AC set to cap or intercept take off when a threat enters the area -correct me if I'm wrong here]
  12. to dizz and ruggbutt, thanks for the input, I see what you mean. heres a thouroughly confusing fact to throw in the mix. an online retailer sells usb numpads which are "asynchronous" and "can be used seperatly and at the same time as your laptop's keyboard" i wonder if this would appear as a different device. I would get one and try it out but it is just as expensive as a the belkin or saitek game commander FPS game/key pads. ooh well, maybe Ill just rebind a few of the defaults on the keyboard and save myself 35 bucks [until I get enough for ruggbutt's toy that is;) ]
  13. thanks to all for the info and ideas on canniblizing a game pad but if anyone out there does get a chance to try out a usb numpad the way I suggested in the original post that would be greatly appreciated :helpsmilie: [since I currently dont have the time in the near future to devote to fabing a box and rewiring athe PCB on a game pad- though if I did have the time I would seriously do it ... in fact I would make the time but I dont need anymore analog axis's , just about 4 or 5 function keys, and I dont want to remap over the default settings on the keyboard] thanks
  14. Zaelu, what I mean about the switches is this... switches I buy have wires coming off of them-to wire it into the circuit. these game pads dont have wired in switches, they are just a peice of rubber that pushes down onto a "grid" on the printed circuit board. the only way i can see to put the gamepad into a box is bunch up the buttons like they are on the gamepad and get extenders to hit the rubber "button" it is either that or drill into the PCB and wire in the switches, I guess that is what Im left with oh well
  15. i am not a big do it yourself'er, but I do have a good knowledge of electronics. having seen the inside of a gamepad I know that some switches are closely bunched together, and are just "contact grids" where the switch is actually a small conductive plate that comes down on the grid and closes the switch. basically what Im saying is I dont have a fear of soldering, but how in the world would I turn switches like that into the the kind I would be buying to put in the front panel of the control box I would be fabricating? any links to related DIY websites with Ideas are welcome, my google skills must be rusty, all I can find is plans for "gamegirls" and the like
  16. I saw ruggbutt's thread about his new toy and it made me think... could a usb numpad, the kind used for notebooks and laptop computers, be used as a poor mans version of that new toy? IOW does anyone know if the usb numpad will be recognised as a whole new device in the option/controls menu, or will lomac just see it as the regular keyboard's numpad? if anyone has one but hasnt tried it out yet, I humbly ask that you plug it in to your PC, load up LOMAC, and look in the options/controls menu, click the button next to keyboard [that allows you to switch to your stick and throttle to program them] and see if you now find a new device listed there. this would really help me out!
  17. Pay attention any CN or CVN within the norfolk or even newprort news area could have had 14s or better armed and flying caps in the area within 30 minutes if they [the carriers] were deployed and not "in port" status. the whole situation was unique because no one anticipated it. fool me once shame on me fool me twice here come the tactical nukes "glass parking lots for everyone":drink: I would also be very careful about what you see in the movie, those people had more guts than I can imagine [imagine the situation-the real situation-for just a moment-i dont know if I could do what they did ], but that doesnt mean hollywood wont take liberties with the details. after all that is they're job = to dramatize things like this. IMHO its too soon for a movie like this. 2 cents done
  18. I have been trying to practice guns, so I put immortality on so I actually get a chance to do some shooting :music_whistling: I cant seem to shoot anything down. in the training mission for f-15 once I take over I do fine, but in a mission with immortality on I cant get anything [practicing on su17's] heres the stupid question --in guns is the other enemy AC somehow immortal in relation to my guns? ok...ok... you can stop laughing now, i swear I used to be pretty good with guns in janes f-18 and f-15 but im getting no love in lomac i know how to read the lead calculatin sight, and I know the enemy isnt immune from my missiles [sadly I run out of ammo and aim-9 them to death] but im stumped here. seriously, stop laughing... anyway, anyone with any helpful hints to knife fighting in lomac [guns] please share them here. :joystick:
  19. shot in thedark here since I have the x36, but try going to inputs in the options menu and... make sure you dont have a slider or something else mapped to a weird input [my x36 always comes in after a reset or default as a slider tweaking a trim] so even if you reset it it will always start the next mission in a "trim" state. also: put a "deadzone" in your stick's axis [very little should work]. my x36 also comes in with a little left roll-no matter how many times I calibrate it good luck, i know it bugged me until I fixed it
  20. might have been said but... mulit monitors = business in the front, party in the back :drunk:
  21. ghost spikes on the tws are a bug that is known [at least to this board, dont know if it has been acknowledged by ED] ive heard that others did not have it before 1.12a but now have it, must be a patch issue
  22. ill keep you posted :icon_jook

since no one seems to be following this thread Ill start on the general forum in replies to the other meinit.xml thread
  24. havent gotten the skin change yet, but If your interested I got the aim-54's on the f-15 by editing the pylons of the f-15 in the MEinit.xml file
  25. ok, got the 54's on the f-15, but still working on putting the f-14 skin on it [tried changing a colorscheme in meinit, but no joy] i will continue on, undaunted :icon_supe
