  1. For landings you never come to a hover you drive her straight down to the ground. On approach descend to 600ft and hold 60knts visually fix on a point a third of the way up the cockpit glass from the console. Now lower the collective and maintain a descent speed of no more than 500fpm at 400ft you should be doing 40knts at 200ft you should be at 20knts and 100ft 10knts always maintaining 500fpm descent rate remember as you get nearer to the ground begin to pull up gently on the collective so you don't dish out or sink to soon. It may seem oh so slow but that is the correct approach in a non combat environment especially when in formation landings, dishing out to early will cause the guys behind you to loose visual of you. Also do a hover power check pull collective until you have a 5ft hover and hold check the psi on the torque metre should be around 30 to 35 psi doing this gives you an accurate interpretation of how much collective you need to pull and if you have the power to get off the ground. Once you have set the collective psi you now know what torque setting is needed to maintain a coordinated flight and in turns to maintain height and speed you will only need to apply small amounts of collective for turns to hold altitude. For take off pull the collective to the torque setting you have determined is needed to get you to a 5ft hover now nose her over 5 degrees on the ADI and hold 5 degrees, your climb rate should be 500fpm at 70knts do not touch the collective hold the nose at 5 degrees nose down and maintain climb rate and speed she will level out on her own at 1000ft and 80knts cruise speed. Things to remember collective controls LIFT and cyclic controls SPEED, you want to gain speed push the nose down you want to slow down pull the nose up, you want to descend lower the collective you want to go up raise the collective. And remember to use those peddles. If want to learn to fly the old girl in tight formations and combat environments or just want to fly her properly come over to the http://1stcavdiv.conceptbb.com/ and sign up we have many real life Huey pilots on board who would be more than happy to guide you.
  2. Now thats given me an idea seeing that. So looking at it with that stubie white piece means i could screw the base to the floor just below my seat, then using a drop link ball joint from a car as the main pivot point for the actual stick bringing it upto my desired height including bends positioned around 250mm infront of the main base. Then raise the white stubie with some ali tubing to say 250mm may be more, then using a bicycle seat clamp around the ali tube and another around my stick from the ball joint and then link them together by using a steel rod. Voila full throw control without having to reach to far forward and without smacking me knees or nads.
  3. Ah left and right now ya got me looking at it i am not sure but i am going to put my theory to the test with a few bits of left overs i have lying around.
  4. Understood but then you can't use the full in game axis cause you're now restricting it at the base.
  5. This all very good but we have to find a way of restricting the amount of throw you have to use on the stick. From my experience extending the stick from floor up does give you ever so smooth control but the throw of the stick is exponentially increased to the point you end up having to lean forward out of your seat which is not really ideal and with the bend in it you will keep smacking yourself in the nads i know i have done it. So today i had an epiphany at work whilst doodling away listening to some boring site manager lecturing me it came to me so let me know what you all think of this and if it will work. We already know extending the base from floor up is a pain. So imagine this flip the base upright as though the stick was horizontal with the floor. Now decide how much throw you want from the base i am thinking about 4 to 6 inches should be enough and that will dictate how much physical movement you have to do. Now add a 90 degree bend off of the 4 to 6 inches then add your desired height as close as possible to the real thing that you can get. Then a 90 degree bend back towards you then a 90 up to the stick and this should eliminate the smacking of the knees and nads.
  6. This is really weird cause i can not replicate this crash what you are talking about i can change seats without any problems at all even with all my mods running at once no crashes what so ever.
  7. Well glad you got it working funkster took me a few days to find my solution. I have just tried the export lua file and disabled UAC and it stopped working for me followed Skates instructions but for some reason still scratching my head that method just does not work my end. So took out the export lua file and put it back to how it was "if it ain't broke don't fix it" should be a DCS motto i think.
  8. I had enough of landscape and the feel of peering through a letter box to fly along with the stretched sides. Got mine all in portrait mode except for my helios monitor which stands alone outside of DCS world. Having them in portrait gives me a res of 3400 x 1920 using nvidia surround mode and measuring diagonal corner to corner its the same size as a 42 inch screen but with much more detail. Plus on the upside fps has gone up to 50fps when in the huey on the ground in free flight and when airborne it jumps to 70 fps i'm happy with that. I did try it using softh but that dropped frame rates to 5fps.
  9. Really well i still don't have the export lua in saved games, my understanding of that is that its needed to export things such as the mfcd's and radios from the A10 and display their output to the monitor running helios. I am not flying the A10 only the Huey and those instruments can't be exported yet. Sp for me running it with UAC gives me control simple.
  10. Also if DCS is running with admin rights so to does Helios need these rights or thats what i found, i could flick switches and dials which would work in Helios but they would not send the inputs to DCS until i gave it admin rights or UAC whatever you want to call it.
  11. Err because thats how the real pilot has to do it just like in the A10c gotta use the mic switch to talk to tower wingman whoever.
  12. Hi Stevos, Can you make a low profile 90 degree elbow with the top end threaded male to fit to base of TM stick and the other end open to receive a 25mm aluminium tube, also a 90 degree elbow with both ends open to receive a 25mm aluminium tube to each opening. Regards Jay43
  13. They are not disclosing the full truth as in the picture only 2 of those wires match the colour of mine for example that black one is green in mine there is no brown wire in mine or yellow.
  14. I confirm this i took the F15 for a flight today and yes it does shake around a bit not sure why though, in the Huey still all ok.
  15. Try running them in portrait, i have just done this giving me a res of 3400 x 1920 and when measuring the screens diagonally its the same size as a 42inch tv screen but with much more clarity and detail. It doubled my frame rates and gets rid of the stretched and distorted sides. For example i was hitting 20 - 25 fps in the Huey on the deck in free flight once airborne it would jump to 30 - 35 fps, but now in free flight again and on the deck in the Huey i am hitting 40 - 45 fps and once airborne it jumps to 65 - 75 fps and some areas on the map i am hitting 90 fps.
  16. Esac i am sorry for your problems but that is exactly what i did and it works on mine, the 1 thing i haven't done yet is put back into the kneeboard my own personal files and check lists did you have your own and put them in perhaps. I am not sure if this could be the reason but will try this today as i have not yet installed all my modules which are A10c KA50 and FC3 are not installed only P51D UH1H Mi8 CA and the obvious which it comes with Su25T.
  17. Thats very strange guys cause i can switch sides and it doesn't crash the game. Can i just ask did you guys do a clean install of the new update by this i mean remove all traces of DCS even from saved games and then do a complete clean install of the game and all mods cause this is what i did. I know it can be long winded doing a clean install, if you haven't that could be why other than that i am not sure. And just to add a clean install improved my frame rates massively for example i use to sit on the runway in free flight and fps would sit at around 20fps but now i am hitting 45 - 55fps on the deck and once airborne i am at 70 - 90fps and this is with 3 screens. Of course thats not related to your issue but if you haven't done a clean install it might be worth a try. Other than that perhaps Peter will chime in soon.
  18. Please make sure you follow PeterP's instructions to the letter cause if you don't he will hunt you down. This is working i have it installed in jsgme format with lots of other mods running to with no conflicts at all. I should mention that i only fly the Huey. During the beta i failed to follow Peters instructions and missed 1 thing which made it not work. But i can confirm it works fantastically in the Huey.
  19. John hi its McCoy i had the same problem and it was driving me insane follow the advice on the nvidia forums its to do with their updates being corrupted so switch off automatic updates don't buy anything else new your psu was more than capable. Clear out all the drivers for nvidia do a clean install but roll back to an earlier date when you had stability, theres about 60 pages about this BSOD on their forums and everyone is saying its corrupted and advising rolling back to an earlier date until they fix it. Just make sure you turn off automatic updates for it to and disable notifications to otherwise it will keep popping back up and suggesting theres a new update.
  20. Ok then here ya go and no its not a burnt out hull from a bad landing.
  21. Ok so we will get the initial design done this weekend and she will get it over to India for cross costing for a proto run Monday. The beauty of how small these are is we will be able to source and use left over fabrics that are no longer viable for the factory to sell as there just isn't enough of it left for them to make a run of 20,000 jackets or trousers. CMT will be cheap to ( cut make & trim ) due to the size. I will liaise with the wife but if we get a small run of proto's i may just throw them out here for dirt cheap to get some feed back. Quality will be tip top as the factory being used be one of the higher end makers.
  22. So are you saying i should not have updated the beta.
  23. Stupid seat belt is still there everytime i glance right and i noticed something weird in free flight f2 and just back up the zoom a little and there right next to me was a skelitoid frame of the huey you just have to catch it right anyone else seen this or just me.
  24. I forgot about that one good call HMA that could be it to.
