  1. Determining Desired Altitude You may be interested in this thread as well... https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=253401
  2. Thank You Thanks to all who replied ... for taking the time to assist, and, all the great information.
  3. When I fly a predetermined desired route, I have no difficulty in finding and hitting my desired steer points .... except that I am never quite :pilotfly:sure what altitude I'm supposed to be flying at. Other than calling up the Steer Point information on the UFC, is there no other method, like a carret on the altitude tape or something equally simple, to show my desired altitude on the HUD?
  4. Thanks for clearing that up for me ... works great.
  5. Wags, In your academic training video on using the targeting pod, I believe that in addition to the narrow and wide FOVs, you made mention of also being able to change the zoom level of the pod. I can not figure out how to do that. If it is indeed possible, could you tell me what keys, knobs, binds, can be used to accomplish changing the zoom level? Thank You ... any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
  6. Thank You I guess I do not understand exactly how frequencies work in DCS ... or why this mission works for other aircraft, but not the Viper. But, your answer was spot on. I changed the JTAC frequency in the mission to 233MHz, and now the mission works just fine. Thanks for your help ... very much appreciated.
  7. I am having a problem communicating with JTAC when flying the F-16C Viper. I do not experience this problem with any other aircraft I've flown. In the test mission attached below, I can use the Easy Comm mode to contact ATC, Flight, Wingmen, and the Tanker with no problem. But, I can NOT get Easy Comms to work with JTAC. Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong? test.miz
  8. Thanks Lex ... that was exactly the type of insight I was looking for ... greatly appreciate your willingness to share your knowledge and experience.
  9. Why ? Lex ... when you say they suck ... I believe you; but, could you give us some more detail, some insight as to what you do not like about their design or function? Thanks
  10. Thank You Your tutorial was easy to understand and very well done. Thanks for sharing this with us.
  11. FCS on Left DDI I see Advisories displayed on the bottom of the FCS page when it is on the Left DDI ... might want to give this a try.
  12. When I have gotten "abort, abort, abort" in the past, it has usually been because I have not completed the entire 1. IP Inbound 2.Lasar on 3. Spot 4. In from the (whatever direction from which you are approaching the target) communication sequence. When I do all four steps, I get the message that I am "cleared hot". When I do not complete all four steps ... I get "abort, abort, abort" ... and have to start the entire sequence over again.
  13. Arrestor Wire Stuck on Tail Hook To get the arrestor wire off of your tailhook, try going full power for a second or two. When you cut your engine, your plane should roll back enough to cause the arrestor wire to fall off your tail hook. (this couple of second burst actually should be part of your normal landing routine)
  14. Probably a Problem with the Fuse settings. You may want to check this out ... paying special attention to the fuse settings Wags uses ...
  15. Perhaps this is related …. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=216430

  17. Thanks for these informative posts … a bit "vintage" perhaps … but still full of a lot of great information.
  18. Agree with Slap Stick's comments The Hornet currently has ICLS ( Instrumental Carrier Landing System), so both Case 1 (daylight, good visibility) and Case 3 (night, poor visibility) landing can be successfully flown. The Hornet is soooo complex, and, there are soooo very many systems and armaments to implement, that it will probably be in early access mode (and actively be being changed, added to, improved by ED) for months to come.
  19. Fix may not have resolved the slipping issue as of yet. I too read that the problem with slippage on the deck had been fixed. But, I also read elsewhere that the "Fix" either did not make it into the last patch, or, the problem was not fully resolved. I too still experience skating around the deck when the carrier is doing over about 20 knots.
  20. Thank You Wags … very good practice mission. Thank You very much.
  21. The Instant Action mission for VFR landing at Nellis AFB in Nevada instructs you to land on Runway 12R. I do not believe this is correct …. I do not believe there is such a runway at Nellis … I suspect that 21R is the intended runway.
  22. Out of the four modes you mention, I believe that AACQ is the only one yet to be implemented. Perhaps that will change with the upcoming patch.
  23. Hmmm … I use the easy communication mode a lot in single player to communicate with the Carrier and the Airbases while landing … and it seems to be functioning well for me.
  24. Thanks Akula … I find your list beneficial, and will probably throw in onto my kneeboard.
  25. I prefer to use the enter key and the +key on my number keypad to turn TrackIR on/off and to center it. I prefer this key combination because 1) these keys are not used for much else in the rest of my set-up, 2) these keys are oversized on my keyboard (about twice the size of the rest of the keys), and 3) these two keys are located on the very far right edge of my keyboard, which makes them very easy to locate, even in a dim room, in the heat of a dogfight.
