Yes, just two keys here so no Alpha access. I have to wait for beta access which is presumably what the pre-purchasers will get too even if they were not KS backers?
-
I have keys for both but it doesn't answer the question - does that mean I get Alpha Access? It seems I may have been hoist by my own petard. I deliberately backed over $120 (way above the $50 Alpha Access level) to be sure of getting all aircraft (nine in fact) plus Alpha Access but fell short of the revised (new) $140 Alpha Access level. According to the link SiThSpAwN posted I will not get Alpha Access after all. I knew the number of aircraft had been reduced but had not realised Alpha Access had been removed from the higher backers.

IMHO - It seems to me that a contract is a contract. KS Backers paid for early alpha access et al. Pre-purchasers get the released version at a discount. This is not a let down, it is a let up and very fair treatment. Everyone else gets the released version at the full price when it is released. $40 for all you describe may seem a cheap buy but you could have had that if you'd wanted it. My own contribution ran to three figures so I won't lose any sleep over it but I would feel 'let down' if I didn't get my KS rewards. Without the KS Backers there may not have been a DSC WWII at all or not as far advanced as it already is. btw I have also chipped in a lot of $$$ buying other DCS post war aircraft which no doubt funded some WWII development.

When I first started flying combat sims around 20 years ago I couldn't afford pedals so I, too, made my own. A simple rocking rudder bar, springs at each end, with a pot behind wired into the joystick rudder circuit (internal rudder pot disconnected). They were very smooth to use and I really regretted ditching them when I got the Saitek pedals some years later. The MFG pedals I have now remind me of the smooth controllable inputs from my home-mades. They are a really good investment and of course much more realistic than my own 'design'. And they have toe brakes!

Good news SiThSpAwn ! <cough> next patch! <cough>

The French resistance did extremely important work both before and after D-Day but I doubt they wore official uniforms. Anyway, what about the Poles. Where are their uniformed soldiers? Personally I don't think I could tell the difference from above 500 feet.

I'm not so sure. If you watch from 7:40 at 11 o'c'lock you can see the 'models' popping in and out. They still need to tidy up that transition and maintain the model visibility right down to dot. I suspect if the distance had gradually increased the model would still have gone: Now you see it; Now you don't; Dot. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3100643#post3100643

Is it the upcoming patch to 1.5.6.3690 (that we are waiting for) before we can reactivate the MiG-21 in 1.5? It says "the first update to DCS World version 1.5.6 to Open Beta" which suggests the stable 1.5 is being updated to Beta standard. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3096788&postcount=45

So many posts and so many questions/replies. So many versions, so many opinions. Please help me as I am a simple man. I do not have 1.5 open beta. I have 1.5.6.1938 I have 2.0.5.3521 I have run pcnsl.exe under MiG-21bis/bin in both versions. When I open either version I simply Exit the MiG-21 reactivation dialogue box Now, either: A. I am not to reactivate the MiG-21 until after a version has had it's next patch. I am then ok to re-activate a patched version but not an un-patched version (assuming the version patches are not released at the same time). I will need to reactivate each re-patched version separately, reactivation of one version does not fix it for the other version. OR B. I should not re-activate for either version until BOTH have been re-patched. So just don't fly the MiG-21 until then. Which should it be?

Thank you Dolphin. However I was left with 6 activations (IIRC) which will go to 8 I hope, and the deactivation told me I have only 3 de-activations left. Shouldn't they be the same number? In fact why don't you just reset all activations to the full number? Is there any reason why I should not deactivate in ver 2.0 now? I think all my modules activated autoimatically when I loaded ver 2.0. Doesn't 1.5 set up 2.0?

Universal Model Visibility Setting Mod
klem replied to Why485's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Imposters were never the problem. The fading, disappearing, models were before the dot appeared. -
I think this is what gavagai is saying. It is necessary to achieve a 'realistic' setting across many different resolutions etc., so there can not be one setting. The software must interrogate the hardware and deliver the correct solution.

Sithspawn did say at one point that ED are aware and it is being looked at but that was many weeks ago. An update on ED's position and intentions would be very helpful. The main objection is that there is a transition from dot to a/c model where the dot disappears and the model is so weak it cannot be seen so the target 'disappears' for a while. I don't think it is a dot problem but a model rendering problem, perhaps size and colour. Scaling has also been suggested but I don't know ED's view on that.

Check your backer entitlement - you may already be receiving it for free.

BIGNEWY I hope you will see this as on topic as it is offered as part of a Normandy package. Could you clarify one point? It is clear that the AI Asset pack has to be purchased even for servers, unlike all previous AI items which came free and could be inserted into missions at no extra cost. Presumably for the clients on MP to see these assets in a MP mission they will have to purchase the assets too? Or will they be 'provided' in the scenario by the server?

I have bought the NTTR map for my gaming account and I am using it on the ver 2.0 alpha release. I would also like to use it on my server PC but to save money I would like to buy it on my gaming account using all my $29 bonus dollars (net cost $20) and gift it to my server account. Is that possible?
-
Thanks (also Rangi) I didn't know that an Assetts pack was entirely AI.
-
Wags, are you sure you mean free? One of the biggest worries for we old hands in combat sims is the viability of the producer. Surely we will have to pay for these modules - or do you mean AI only?
