Interesting, but when I have the mirrors ON, I don't see the CPU usage or load increase at all... the CPU usage stays the same throughout the whole mission/game regardless of settings at around 30% to 40%. I would expect to see CPU usage to spike up when there's mirrors ON, which could explain a CPU bottleneck, but that's not what happens.

Yeah, hopefully newer terrain version will fix this :/ As for RAM, I did not even see the RAM usage go above 6.5GB so I don't think it's the RAM... However, when I have the time and money, maybe I'll consider getting a 16GB kit hopefully.

I have a GTX 970 and in a simple mission, the "Instant Action" Su-25T mission - Close Air Support Medium, I get insane lag spikes whenever I turn my view towards the ground targets. There are both red and blue ground vehicles in the area and it doesn't matter if the view is from the air, far or close, but whenever the view gets even CLOSE to looking at the ground vehicles, the GPU usage drops to about 7% to 8%, obviously destroying frame rates, making game unplayable (10 to 15 fps). Is there any way to fix this? Is there a fix coming and how can I work around this? (By the way, this has nothing to do with GPU temperatures, also the CPU usage stays around 30% to 40% through the whole session, doesn't matter if GPU is working normally or not. (I actually expected CPU usage to be very high, but I guess 1.5 really optimised GPU usage so CPU basically stays permenatly around 30 to 40 percent usage now.) I also played another mission. This one was a bit older but it was created by the mission generator. Overall it has even more vehicles in the whole mission, however, those dip in GPU usage were not present whatsoever at all. This may be due to the fact that I was flying the A-10C though.

Mind if I just in? :) Lonewolf Callsign: JaZoN XD Side: Blue Preferred Aircraft: F-15C, will fly A-10C if needed

Interesting... ED has yet to implement that into the 15's model... as soon as you get hit by a missile, even if HUD and systems are still working, if the engines go out, then you lose all control no matter what. If you lost hydraulics, the control's authority decreases by a very high degree (maybe that's realistic I'm not sure).

Hi everyone, I'm not sure if other people have this bug or if it's been posted before, but if I join a multiplayer server and spawn in the 15 for the first time since joining that server, I can set the navigation mode to both NAV and ILSN normally and it works like it should. However, after I die and I respawn back into the 15, the mode is stuck on the ILSN and I am not able to change it back to NAV mode. This is quite frustrating as it makes navigating to bulls or WPs very difficult sometimes. Thanks.

Interesting, maybe i'll try to disable two of my cores to see how that furthermore affects the performance of the game.

Interesting... maybe I should look into the processing of mirrors in DCS. I really don't think it should be though, there's no reason why it should be CPU bound since it it's just rendering the world again but behind you... Also, it doesn't explain why sometimes I would get perfect frame rates even with mirrors on and sometimes (most of the times) having frame rates stuck below and around 60. Also, I can't overclock my CPU, 4570 is a locked chip I'm afraid :(

I'll just quote what I said earlier in the post: "your eyes dont see in "frames" but if you put in terms of frames, the human eye can see even up to 1000 frames per second. Air force pilots were flashed by an image of an aircraft for only 1 millisecond which is 1/1000 sec. and they were able to identify the aircraft. That means, they can see up to 1000fps if you put into the "frames" idea." But I think the most important part is that the eyes do not see in "frames"

Yeah, I thought that was the case too. I couldn't really afford to run mirrors in 1.2.16 with my 750 Ti, but after upgrading to 1.5, I could manage it, although I would still turn it off most of the times. I am extremely disappointed now, that after upgrading to a 970 (on average more than 2.5x faster!) it STILL has troubles running mirrors! The issue does not seem to be consistent though, Sometimes I will be at high altitude with nothing around me and get 100+fps with mirrors on and sometimes in similar situations I will drop down to 50 fps. Low and close to the deck however, 95% of the times when I have the mirrors on, I only get about 40 to 50fps which is quite disappointing. I find that when this happens, my GPU usage and power were dropping significantly. They go to like 50% to 60% power which when I am getting those proper 100+ frame rates, the GPU is using close to 100% of power. So now, I am not sure if this is an optimization thing. I wish that a developer or tester can comment on this...

This part i understand. In fact, I was thinking a lot about this. However, this somehow doesn't make sense. If I am using 0 MSAA, with mirrors ON, there's no performance difference compared to 16xQ with mirrors ON. Shouldn't performance be absolutely dead compared to none since it's rendering everything again? Also like I said, even I upgraded to a 970, I saw almost no performance gains with mirrors on compared to a 750 Ti, no matter the MSAA (and other) settings!

Ahh, thank you, it was in the saved games in the user files. But with that out of the way, why is DSR a huge bug right now? Even if they didn't make it support the whole technology, I don't think the game should have such a catastrophe when it comes to UI scaling just simply because I changed it to a different resolution? Also, if I force it to go into full screen but Alt+Enter, although I can see the whole screen, I can't click on any of the buttons because somehow my mouse cursor isn't actually over the buttons. I hope this gets a fix soon, I'm actually curious to try out DCS in 1440p instead of 1080p.

Hi everyone, so like the title says, antialiasing doesn't seem to affect the performance for game for me, but somehow, I have bad performance to begin with. I have a GTX 970 that's overclocked pretty high (check my signature for full details) and sitting in the cockpit of the A10 with every setting on high, 16x AF, NO ANTIALIASING, 9000 tree visibility, max preload radius and no depth of field, even with a few things going on in the mission I only get about 50 and high 50 fps. This is very quite strange because this was about the same fps I was getting with my old 750 Ti I upgraded from. Also, I am monitoring the GPU and it indeed is using all of the power, running at full clock speed and voltage...etc. However, if I turn the antialiasing to even 16xQ, I get no performance hit at all when I'm in the cockpit! I am so confused right now because I don't know why I can't trade some antialiasing for better performance in the cockpit!! Can anyone please help? :helpsmilie:

There's a bug in DCS right now where if you change the resolution that's higher than the monitor (I am on 1080p and I changed ti to 1440p because I wanted to try DSR), the game won't work properly anymore and the UI is all messed up and the buttons are cut off in a way that I can't change it back to 1080p. I can use the drop down menu and select 1080p but the apply button has been cut off. This is quite of an issue and now I need to manually change it back to 1920x1080 so where can I find the file that saves all the graphical settings? Thanks.

A-10 as no radar, it has the TGP which is a targeting pod

I have it off.

Nothing really running in the background. Nothing to make a difference. The main point of this post is about the performance delta that doesn't exist when upgrading from my 750 ti to the 970. When the mirrors are off, then I can clearly see the 970 shining but when the mirrors are on, the 970 performs just as poorly (or good) as the 750 ti, which really really confuses the shit out of me.

I've got this awesome picture I want to use as my avatar picture, I've made sure that it was less than 1024x1024 (it's 1024x877) and it's also less than 1000KB. However, whenever I try to upload it, it keeps saying that it's invalid or failed to upload. I've tried both the upload from computer method and also the URL method where I pasted the URL of the image after I uploaded the image to imgur. Any help? EDIT NEVERMIND, IT SEEMS TO HAVE WORKED EVEN THOUGH IT SAID THE UPLOAD FAILED

Yeah I would think so too. I see that the game really maxes out at around 6.7 ish total system memory anyway so I don't think the RAM is the limit here.

Thank you, I will try that. Do you have any idea what it actually is?
