So recently as you all know, the 27 had a major update on structure integrity and pulling too many Gs especially repeatedly can cause the wings to break apart. Very good job on that, and it's definitely going towards a more realistic route. That begs the question, does anyone have solid information on the max G limit of the 15? In DCS, I definitely prefer to fly the 15 myself, but I can't help thinking about the massive disadvantage between the aircrafts if puling too hard at low altitude breaks your plane apart... I also remember at some point, somewhere on the forum, there was a documentation of a test pilot in a (I recall it had something to do with NASA) F-15, probably trying to do a maximum speed run and something happened and the vertical stabilizer departed from aircraft, departing the whole plane from flight and the Gs that were on the plane during departure was so great that it ripped the plane to pieces. Pilot died :( I don't remember all the details but I think it went something like this. I also may have exaggerated the ripping apart section. Anyway, will we see be able to see a realistic of effects of G loading on planes soon?

Soo... new aircraft is announced and is somewhat of an obscure plane. No words on the Harriers yet even though they are supposed to be coming right after the Mirage (which is obviously still not completed). I hope everything that Razbam starts will actually get finished. I hate seeing developers announcing this and that, and start good work on it but then cancel it months/years down the line like many other planes, not just from Razbam. Hope everything works well and also that one day we'll see a 15E like the roadmap says :)

Has the server been updated to the latest version of DCS yet? (1.5.3.51417)
-
Hmm, I'm interested to know what's the difference between defending against 120 and the aim 7? Thanks.
-
Yes. Sgat. Thank you. I've experienced lots of this but everyone still insists on such an exaggerated effective range. Sometimes if you are really really lucky you can stretch it out to like 8 or 9 nm while head on at maybe angles 20 but otherwise... NAHHH
-
I don't have the exact data (too lazy to look in missiles.lua) but yes, it's pretty long time. However, the top speed is severely capped.
-
But you won't get the proper AIM 7 HUD indication i'm pretty sure... you'll just get a blank hud as if you didn't have weapons selected IIRC...
-
Hey I was wondering how did you get the Multiplayer chat to be at the top left of the screen? Thanks.
-
I could never afford to fire at even 9 miles unless i want them to go defensive; it is quite mad indeed however. It's not possible that I fired in TWS because it doesn't even let you select and fire the 7s when you're in TWS. I'll see if I can post some tracks but the missile going stupid right after it leaves the rail is pretty common sight.
-
yep it doesn't seem like ED/TFC has properly implemented DSR or any of the downsampling technology yet. I had this same problem before where i wanted to try DCS in 1440p but after changing resolutions, the UI was messed up and the button weren't in the screen anymore.
-
I'm sure there must be a thread out there but... why is the performance of the AIM-7 so horrible in DCS? You can be easily firing at someone 4 miles and the missile would go stupid the moment it leaves the rails (or hardpoints rather). Also, its max speed seems to be seriously capped. Why is this? What's the best strategy to using the AIM-7s as of now? Thanks.
-
Is the server up right now?
-
Also the algorithm for the payloads are currently very surface-level and doesn't work with the f15E because if you put any bombs on the RCT/LCT-2 then it would invalidate another missile to be put there etc. ED or maybe RAZBAM have yet to properly put that in the sim yet.

3D Extreme Pro Users - Rudder Twist issue!

Ahh thank you. If I need to end up replacing the pot (potentiometer I'm assuming you guys are referring to?) then where can I get one? -
3D Extreme Pro Users - Rudder Twist issue!
JazonXD replied to JazonXD's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks for all the inputs guys (pun intended ;) ) I think I'll try doing a teardown and following that video when I have time... I've found that video before but I really didn't know if it was going to be helpful to me and in addition to that, I wasn't (and still am) not very confident at taking this apart so... -
I've had my stick for about a year now and a few months ago, I've noticed there was a problem with the rudder twist. Basically, the input from it is extremely jittery and even when I'm not touching the stick, it's still inputting 30% twist (it's supposed to be at 50% for the relaxed, middle position). From then on, until now, I've always unbound the rudder input from my axis controls in DCS and it's been working okay so far in flight. However, when it comes to landing or taxiing, it becomes very frustrating because now I have to rely on the keyboard instead of the twist that's right in my hands. Also, it makes emergency situations even that more difficult. Do you guys have any suggestions on how to fix the problem? I've already tried unplugging it then plugging it in and I also tried to reset the calibration to no avail. Thanks.

Guys you can find the roadmap on the forums http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=116893

ok, so HUGE update/breakthrough. This is what i've found. Basically as I was experiencing the problems I explained above, I was running the game at 1080p with all settings at high and 16xQ anti-aliasing. I get the huge framerate drops whenever I'm flying low over a forest or just terrain in general. The framerate drops usually go lower than 60 if I have mirrors ON but if I turn them off, they can hover just right above 60. Just for fun, I decided to change the resolution to 1440. However, since DCS doesn't officially support DSR yet (I think), the UI becomes messed and you can't actually use the UI anymore; the buttons to "apply" or any button in general that's at the bottom or right side of the screen is not there (cut off). What I did to mitigate this was to go to my Nvidia control panel and force the resolution for my DESKTOP to 1440p as well. Now, I can see the whole UI and play DCS at 1440p. What I've noticed that there is a bit of performance drop when I'm up in the air and places where I usually get 130fps (looking straight into the sky) I am now getting only around 100. However, the super weird and interesting part is that when I fly low to the ground, I don't get those insane FPS drops below 60 anymore!? For some reason, playing the game at a higher resolution and which demands higher GPU power will somehow increase the performance at low level flight (I am talking about with mirrors ON as well). Between 1080p and 1440p, the CPU usage stayed the same regardless of environment. So this is becoming quite inconclusive for me.

That's awesomely awesome! I wished there was a feature in this forum that gives you a notification when you're quoted... that way Prowler can see this message... someone please inform him! :pilotfly:
-
Indeed... this project itself has been in the makings since 2012...
-
Not, I've been receiving even more problems with 1.5.3 (performance). So far, I did not notice any fix for this with the new update.
-
We're not even quite close to be able to answer that yet :P But I really don't know... some of the function relies on the second pilot and since this module is going to be full out realism I think that flying along will make you lose some features if not the complete ability to do A/G.
-
Well clearly DCS DOES take advantage of some extra cores... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=157374 However, I think you're right DCS doesn't use hardware enough and not properly. Will there be performance fixes/optimisations that will come eventually? I really hope so. I think performance optimisation is the achilles heel for most sims
-
Thank you for the link, but unfortunately, I know that this will not solve the problem. The problem here is GPU usage, not clock speeds. Even when the clock speeds dip to idle speeds due to the extremely low GPU usage, if I look away momentarily into the sky to make the GPU ramp up back to the full voltage and clock speeds again, I can look back at the problematic area and still be running at the full clock speed and voltage except I still have the very low GPU usage. So I know that clock speeds and voltage are not problems. They go down literally because DCS is using the card so little that it thinks it's almost idling.
-
Essentially exactly what's happening to me minus the GPU temps. The GPU usage drops so low to 7% that it goes to idling clock speeds and idling voltage! This is quite insane and hopefully there will be a fix for this soon, assuming this is a game related performance hit.
