  1. I'm not even going to try and prepare for Kiowa. Why? Because nothing else in DCS is going to compare. How do I know that? I have limited insider knowledge on the Kiowa and how they're testing it. I'm not talking about giving it to streamers and youtubers to fly for publicity i'm talking behind the scenes testing. I'm hesitant to go in to more detail for fear of annoying Polychop (I'm friendly with Sven) so you'll just have to take my word for it, or wait for Polychop to go in to more detail on how they've testing the aircraft themselves. I will say this though, i'm anticipating a lot of people getting the Kiowa and then complaining on the forums because its "too hard", and it's my guess is Polychop are expecting the same thing. My hope is that Polychop will go out of there way to demonstrate that actually the aircraft is as true to its real life counterpart as possible because based on what i've been told it's going to be amazing and deserves every chance! 100% getting the aircraft on release.
  2. I did notice that it did that on some take offs, but never pegged it to CAT 1 or 3. Interesting discovery. I wonder if it's supposed to do that.
  3. I normally fly CAT III as standard and only hit CAT I if I really need the extra AOA which is only really in close range dogfighting.
  4. We'll have it in 2 weeks... In all seriousness. No, at the moment it's not possible. Most people drop 2 (sometimes more) CBU's in 1 pass to increase the chances of hitting the target(s) you're aiming at.
  5. As someone who flies with Track IR, i've always found it tricky to visually spot targets. I remember before 2.5 released there used to be a setting you could toggle that made it easier (I can't remember what it was called) but since 2.5 released it has been removed. These days in order to even have a miniscule chance of spotting targets i'm constantly zooming in and out as I look out, and around the cockpit. Obviously it's a little easier on servers that have the blue/red dot enabled. In the old days I considered that "cheating" but now, i'm ok with it as long as its just the dots and no the full text version.
  6. That and many other issues that cropped up after the last OB update. So yeah, you could say its a known issue
  7. Yeah...but for every bug they fix it spawns another, then another and another. I accept its open beta and bugs are to be expected. It's clear and understood. However, how can they implement a feature and then break seemingly unrelated features, features that in my experience have never had problems with, as a result? I mean what does the HUD brightness or how the TPOD looks when using BHOT/WHOT have to do with waypoint creation. None I would assume and yet they're broken. I can only assume that the fact its referred to as beta and not stable has given ED the impression that quality control on the initial release to OB isn't a problem when in fact it is. It's hard to find the bugs that really matter, the ones that actually break the game when silly little things like these are overlooked or not addressed. Just my 2 cents. :)
  8. Before or after charging ED for the privilege? :P Can confirm all of the above issues.
  9. I've got a TIR4, an older model to be sure but i've had it since the I was 20-21 (I'm 31 now) and it's still in perfect working order. I can't fly without it, and if I try I just feel dirty. As people have said VR is more immersive but if your computer can't handle the requirements of a VR headset TIR is the second best option. The only adjustment i've had to make over the years, and this isn't really the TIR's fault is some headsets are to thick to allow the clip to fit. So i've modified mine with a velcro patch that allows me to velcro it to my headset as and when I need it.
  10. At the time this clip was recorded I didn't know I was in override. It was only after I did some testing that I discovered that I must have been for the missile to fire in A/G mode. My asking if I should be getting any feedback from the aircraft to tell me was more to find out if not having said feedback as in the video was expected behaviour or if its a bug. I have large hands so accidentally bumping the override switch on my throttle would probably happen again at some point. I've worked checking the override in to my A/G checklist so for now I can hopefully mitigate the chance of it happening until they fix the issue with the A/G symbology overlaying over the overrides.
  11. So it is a bug of some kind. Thanks for the information Panther. By the way, love you and your teams work, you guys kick ass!
  12. Luckily I was streaming at the time so i've located the exact moment the missile firing occurs. Observe. I'll take the "you're being stupid" attitude for being clumsy and accidentally knocking the override on but surely the aircraft should be telling me about it, especially when its in a contradictory master mode setting the override wouldn't normally be used in? As you can see in the clip my hud gives me no indication of missiles being selected, and only gives me the standard symbology for a CCRP ordnance drop. My left MFD shows my TGP, my right shows the SMS page which shows I have a GBU12 selected. I have no indication a missile is going to be fired prior to holding down the pickle button in preparation for the bomb coming off. At T-5 seconds to drop I hold down the pickle button, the missile fires then the bomb drops at the allocated point as normal.
  13. Hi guys, I've had a few instances when flying A/G in the F16 of the AIM120C's firing when pressing the pickle button on GBU12 drops. I've done some testing and i've discovered that if my dogfight switch is set to missiles it occurs. Is this expected behaviour? It might seem like a silly question but given the aircrafts master mode is set to A/G and not A/A I would have thought it, and not the dogfight switch would take priority. In the meantime i'll just have to make sure I haven't accidentally switched dogfight mode on before dropping however the aircraft itself doesn't seem to give me any symbology to tell me its active. Thanks.
  14. I'm having a small issue. I've inserted the script and its running in my mission. I know its working because I can see the F10 menu option. However, it's not picking up ANY aircraft despite having an AWACS to feed it information. Am I missing something? Thanks.
  15. The A10 section is now up and running. While I'm here I would like to clarify this is not a clan. We don't have game servers to play on or anything like that. The discord should be considered a knowledge resource, nothing more :)
