Sorry but TrackIR is not complete crap compared to Oculus Rift. I have Oculus Rift Devkit for my VR experiments (first day backer, and VR developer) and I do use TrackIR for quite a while for my flight simming. Current Oculus Rift has very good inertial 3DOF headtracker, probably best 3DOF inertial tracker among others I tried so far (Vuzix, Hillcrest Labs, and others...). But Track IR is absolute killer optical tracker with very low latency and full 6DOF. Oculus team researches the capability to add 6DOF tracker in consumer version of the rift, personally I think they should collaborate with SixSense (guys who made Hydra controller), but as a matter of fact currently it's 3DOF which doesn't make it a killer of TrackIR, far from it. Current devkit is very low resolution to be used in such a complex simulation as DCS, but I do hope they will improve resolution for consumer version. By my own observations that they need to use at least 4k panel to make it really well suited for serious flight simming. So far they plan to release consumer Rift with one FullHD panel, which still makes it pretty low res (half of Full HD per eye, stretched across a huge area of vision). For example A-10C hud would be imposible to read if in game FOV will match Rift's FOV, and you do need to match it (no zooming guys) because otherwise users will have headache. And BTW Vireo drivers are pretty bad as far as I see, touched them a few times, head headache because of improper stereo rendering. Could be some settings that I miss. I like demos with native implementation far more, usually it works much much better.

FSX is more like operating system for various flight simulations, rather than complete product. There are plenty of very high quality modules out there which one can buy or download for free for FSX, which include: aircrafts, sceneries, weather mods, wind and thermics simulation, camera effects, and many more. Graphics wise FSX can vary from complete crap to almost real graphics with numerous details, depending on what mods you use, how you configured FSX, what hardware you have. The same goes for flight dynamics and damage modelling, advanced addons like the ones of A2A simulations, use external programs which calculate flight dynamics and send it back to FSX. There are many of really amazing aircrafts made for FSX which provide real flight manuals, and require pilot to respect them. There are also plenty of super crappy addons, even payware. However you can read reviews before you buy first! And in the end, in order to get really great FSX experience you need to spend ton of money on addons and mods, this is true.

Many great thoughts here! Definitely AI door gunners and visible troops are must! Also hydras and miniguns seems underpowered now.

Wow! For the price of the Warthog I would definitely buy! Looking forward to see how the project will go! I'm interested in both - throttle and stick.

Обнаружилось что приводило к вылету при стрельбе из миниганов - в файле: C:\Users\+++Username+++\Saved Games\DCS\Config\options.lua Параметр ["lights"] был равен 1 Если прописать ["lights"] = 2 то все работает и ДКС не вылетает! Вообще странно что только у одного оружия в игре такая зависимость от этого параметра. Я его поменял на 1 давным давно, так как при включении БАНО в А-10С - сильно просаживался ФПС если параметр был 2. Но тем не менее, корень зла нашелся и был исправлен.

Thank you very much Paganus! It solved my issue! I had ["lights"] = 1 after changing to ["lights"] = 2 issue is solved! Anyway it is strange that this effect is so dependent on light setting. Look for ["lights"] param in the ["graphics"] section of C:\Users\+++Username+++\Saved Games\DCS\Config\options.lua change it to 2

These are the mods I used: - Me-109 bot (currently uninstalled) - Night-vision goggles mod (shader replacement, not sure it is still working after 1.2.4 update) - iControl DCS, which anyway I don't use for UH-1. Not much mods, and would be weird if some of them conflicted. I need to check if export.lua have anything to do with it, but I doubt. [edited] By the way - rockets, and door-mounted machine-guns work without any issue. Also all the other weapons on A-10C, P-51D, FC3 works, didn't checked Ka-50, but I'm sure it's fine

Any updates on this? Any answers or suggestions from developers? I can't use miniguns in any mission, on any pilot position, it just keep crashing before the first bullet shots.

У меня тоже пока не получилось сесть на крышу здания - бум моментальный и даже запчастей не остается, похоже на баг. По поводу миниганов - печально, даже не знаю что делать.

У меня при попытке пострелять из миниганов - ДКС вылетает в винду. Кто-то еще сталкивался? И как лечить?

Получается это как Су-25, 25т и А-10А из ГС3? Ожидалось большего если честно... Выходит проект уровня А-10С сейчас для ЕД сложно тянуть? Ведь П-51, Комбайнд Армс, ГС3, и даже Хьюи (от Белсимтек) вышедшие после А-10С - все гораздо более простые проекты. Хочется верить что это не так, и Ф-15С, Ф-18 - будут крафтами на уровне А-10С. П.С. В плане отпугивания новичков - доработайте аркадный режим. А те кто ищет в ДКС 99% воссоздание реальности пусть летают с кликабельными кокпитами, полноценным АФМ.

I have a feeling, it's because of nozzle fire effect, it also probably spawns bunch of light sources, which kills performance. Works faster when engine is off.

Same here, I hear the sound like they start rotating (but not shooting) and next - bam! Crash to desktop! Doesn't matter from where to shoot - first or second pilot.

Actually Ka-50 can fly without tail IRL, they even did such tests. Can't find proof at the moment, but there where photos somewhere.

Got it yesterday, tried to flew it today, very wild baby she is, but me likey! :D

Used Acronis True Image for HDD to SSD transition, everything worked flawlesly, didn't need to reinstall anything (Win7, DCS, FSX, Condor, and bunch of other software). Currently using OCZ Vertex 4 (512 GB).

Странно, у меня Муся почти никогда не козлил, нормально садится.
