  1. Well then that is all the proof I need! ED should market this with a gamer in full hazmat suit with a headline:"While people around you die, you can be in the pilot's seat!" -not serious If ED wants to promote a spring sale, go for it! But marketing the sale with any reference to current situation is just stupid and completely tasteless.
  2. how about a 9/11 sale in September? No this is in REALLY bad taste and can backfire phenomenally. This would be in the news with front page backlash. ED's name would get thrown in the mud for good. I would hope nothing like this would even be considered. This would be in such poor taste, I don't think it's even been considered anywhere else.
  3. dude relax. We are not even talking about release dates. We are talking about taking it out of EA...Feature complete.. nothing else to finish. You made the claim ED almost never misses a deadline. If you think F18C will be completed (ALL features, ALL systems,) within the next 9 months, then that is on you. For the rest of us, we'll take each new feature as they come and be realistic.
  4. No I think we are all used to setting realistic goals. There isn't a single module that was completed by a deadline ED set. It's understandable and we accept it. I don't think too many people expect F18 to be feature compete anytime this year when there is still so much left to do: ATFLIR Navigation A/A radar completion A/G Radar and all submodes ECM Munitions JHMCS option HUD Will it come out of EA this year.. yes probably.. will it be feature complete with all system fully functional.. HIGHLY UNLIKELY! The F18 has come a long way since release, and we all look forward to the many major changes coming up over the next couple of years!
  5. No I didn't. ED's timeline by their own admission is subject to change. They never guaranteed any module to be feature complete by the end of this year. Nor am I counting on the F18 to be totally feature complete by end of this year. I am sure most of it will be complete but highly doubtful every system and payload will be completed by end of this year.
  6. No we do not know that for a fact.
  7. We will never have a fully complete version of the manual. At least not for years. There will always be addendum, errata, and possibly additional systems and weapons being added over the the next few months and even years. To know when we will have the most complete manual is actually knowing when the F18 will be feature complete! Case in point, even the flagship A10C is going to have some minor changes to it, that will require changes to the manual, I am sure. Not even in the real world are there fully complete manuals. Only most recent versions So as others said, however you will always find the most RECENT manual in the doc folder of each module you own. Go ahead and print it off, adding pages to it as the systems, weapons get added. Don't let the fact that it is still in EA stop you!
  8. INR-P Means your point track is masked so it reverts to Inertial mode. It will try maintain this point while the target is hidden/masked. It isn't actually locking the target it is locking the 3D geographical point that it thinks should be the target location.
  9. I think if ED offered the choice, I am quite sure the vast majority of players would in fact stay with option #1. It's easy to see in real time, every time a new EA plane comes out, people pay pre-order, or first day purchase on release even if ED says its still a very early access to a barely functioning module.
  10. Two days in a row you posted this. The current A10C model in DCS is suite 3. The HMCS did not come until suite 7-8. It is highly unlikely we will ever see such an advanced suite.
  11. Why would you think that?
  12. Again limiting any version of the game would be a terrible idea. By your "subscription model" each person would be forced to submit their own "bug report" even if it has already been submitted dozens or hundreds of times, clogging up either the forums or the bug reporting tool. Too many people are over dramatizing the actual issue. Some OB bugs made it past their QC (because they are mostly MP bugs) that caused some major issues, but are slowly being dealt with. It only happened once before since DCS 2.0 came out!!! No need to change the entire way people access the game. No need to limit people's access to either MP or SP. So far most servers have patched to 2.5.6 latest build and no game breaking bugs. Just take a step back and breathe!! It's a game, it will have bugs, but they will eventually all get fixed.
  13. BS the OP is specific in "Remove access to Multiplayer for dedicated servers on Open Beta DCS branch." It's even in his title! He backtracked further down when many of us called him out on it. Limiting MP in any way shape or form is just wrong and won't work as been spelt out numerous times.
  14. Actually we ALL do EVERY player does!!! It's actually been like this for years and except for 2 occasions has been running relatively smoothly. The sim still has some work ahead, but I and as many other would love for the chance to continue testing out the OB and see just how far we have come! I have no idea what you are trying to convey here You just contradicted yourself here, which is at the root of my opposition! ED does not have thousands or hundred or even dozens of people that can test MP WITHOUT the tools used by the best servers in MP. You fail to understand that any of the top MP servers have put in THOUSANDS of man hours and we NEED to test MP with the latest releases. When there is a game breaking bug (only happened twice in several years), then you juts need to rollback and wait for the hotfix.
  15. Well as long as the players realize having a closed beta means only a small fraction of the player base will be "play testing" ensuring updates from now on be several weeks if not months in between. The great thing about have such a large MP population on OB is the community found the bugs infinitely much quicker than if it was tested to the same standard internally. I personally think things are ok the way they are, yes the latest two patches contained huge bugs that affected MP, but most servers just rolled back, continued on until the next hotfix.
  16. in 5 years since DCS 2.0 was released, there were two occasions that a game breaking bug forced MP to rollback. Let's not blow this completely out of proportion... please put it in perspective. Since MP are usually people with a bit more knowledge of the game will almost always insist to use the newest OB. That is just how it works. I and many others have no issues helping to find bugs in this game. Things that cannot be found when playing a linear SP mission. MP servers are usually dynamic and can use every unit in game making it IDEAL to find bugs as they creep up. This is also an ever evolving game with new units, maps and updates to core engine keep getting released. It needs to be stress tested. OB will always be the preferred version of MP. Nothing will change that. And it would be ridiculous to ban players from using MP on OB. Let's just drop this silly idea.
  17. I do not dispute the claim that there are more SP than MP. Even on OB SP wins out. But I do not want anyone to limit my MP to Release version only. I have rolled back to the last 2.5.5 version which most of MP run on. Like I said, this is only the second time since DCS 2.0 came out that an OB version broke the MP game. No big deal, I rolled back and it took less than 20 mins.,
  18. By the way what server are you administering?
  19. Couldn't disagree more. The vast majority of players WANT access to the latest patches. Since DCS 2.0 there has only been two times that servers had to rollback due to some game breaking bug. The latest bugs are frustrating but not enough for me to drop down to a stable version that hasn't seen any updates since before Christmas. I'm sorry to say but you are really in the very very minority of players who do not want the latest OB updates. The minority should NEVER impose their views on the majority!
  20. Wow! Why why why is that not on the main ED page or even anywhere in the forums? Even if just to shut down some of the tiring "why is X not implemented yet?" or "When will Y be in game?" that keep popping up... every... single.... day!!!
  21. Actually they need the opposite effect. ED NEEDS players on OB to find the bugs. Since DCS2.0 came out, there was only one other tie I remember when servers rolled back to a previous OB due to some game breaking bugs. It sucks when it happens, but its the only way they will make this game better, with lots of testing by the community.
  22. Try telling all those server admins who spent several hundred hours putting some of these MP campaigns together on OB. I cannot see any circumstance whatsoever that dictates removing MP from any version of DCS.
  23. yes it does work but it only display in ADI and HSI. what are you having issues with?
  24. almost certainly. Many of the top MP servers have this weird Redfor fetish that bans anything worth having on Blue.
  25. it's just going to get banned by most MP servers.
