  1. Yah, I am just so tired or adding more cables to my setup. I feel like Neo in the Matrix when he's in the goop pod Which Anker cable? Just make sure it's at least USB 3.0? I can't see any Anker ones that have a 90 deg connection to the headset. I've read that the Kiwi and Ugreen ones are also full speed? Does it have to be USB C to C?
  2. Any cables that anyone can recommend, other than the official Oculus one? I may as well get one in case wireless isn't up to snuff.
  3. Ah, I am starting to get it now, thanks. Why is this important...what's the issue with the mouse?
  4. Excellent, thanks for the detailed information, very helpful. One thing here is what to set the resolution at in DCS? I assume it doesn't matter, or make it as low as possible? Does having your monitor on at the same time not use a lot of unnecessary resources, or does it turn off automatically once actually in game? I will watch one of those 'best settings in VR' videos again, now that I know how to get going. Thanks, this is exactly what I'll do, try Airlink first as it's free, and I want to minimize the number of things to deal with. I have seen videos/posts about force-disabling SteamVR somehow to save on resources?
  5. Thanks, I know that there are videos for this, but as I said, I don't have the link cable yet. So there is no wireless way to play DCS? All I need is this video and I can just start up DCS from the desktop and play then? Why all the threads about OpenXR here (none explaining what it is or why you 'need' it for DCS)? Also, I've read numerous comments about how Airlink is 'trash' compared to Virtual Desktop and Steam Link. Is that true for DCS? I can't beleive after all this time I can't find a DCS VR tutorial video... EDIT: Found this after searching through threads: "Hey guys, I got myself a Q3 and I want to play DCS in VR wireless. For some reasons, the Q3 will not work with AirLink properly, I already had this problem with my Q2, it is stuttering and laggy as hell, you cannot even operate it properly, it is in the 1 frame per second area. The WiFi-Connection is fine which is why Virtual Desktop is very smooth. So without AirLink and only Virtual Desktop available for the wireless operation of my Q3, how do I start up DCS in Virtual Desktop so that it actually runs in VR? I tested it with the Questlink USB-C cable it worked fine. If I start it via Virtual Desktop with the "Start via Oculus" Option, DCS starts, but it is not in VR in the headset; also does not react to headset movements etc. It looks like the PC monitor looks when I start it in VR and not like it looks in the VR headset when I start it in VR. Edit: it works now, I just startet the game via the "Launch Game" option in Virtual Desktop. This is starting to seem like more work than it's worth. One thread says Airlink (Quest Link...same thing?) is the only way it works, the next says Airlink is terrible and VD is the only thing to use for DCS. I don't have Virtual Desktop yet and would have to buy it. Also, would this use the Multithread .exe through the VD launch option, or do I have to edit a text file for that too?
  6. Good to know it's not just me I haven't done anything with the PC yet, other than connect the Steam Link app from the headset (for my Steam VR games). I have the Meta app on my phone, that's it. I also don't have a link cable yet. I was hoping to try it wirelessly first (Virtual Desktop??).
  7. I bought a new Quest 2 finally so I could at least try VR, the price was right ($195USD). I want to be sure I'll use it before I spend more. It seems very plug and play...except for DCS. I have searched, but I can't find a sticky, or video, or thread anywhere with an updated tutorial on what to do. All of the YT videos are just about optimization. I see Windows Mixed Reality, OpenXR, OpenXR Toolkit, OpenVR, SteamVR, Oculus Debug Tool, etc. etc. I have DCS on Standalone. My system is: 5600X, 4070ti, 32GB RAM, W10. Can anyone point me to what to do to get it working in Dec. 2023?
  8. Ok, thanks. I'll assume that SimShaker is still it then. Should have mine by Friday this week.
  9. Canada Computers currently has this for $269 CAD ($195 USD), so I ordered one. Seems like a good enough deal now. I considered US Amazon at $159 USD, but it would be about the same by the time it got here with shipping and duties, and would have taken significantly longer to get here. Still far cheaper at almost half what ordering the Jetpad would have cost me. Is the current DCS implementation from NLR decent, or is it still necessary to use SimShaker?
  10. Haven't bought anything yet. Sadly, their price for the F15E/Orion2 throttle is HALF what a Virpil CM3 would cost me, such is the overpriced nature of this stuff. Doesn't give people a lot of options who actually care about value. I stand by all my 'complaining' about sh!t warranties on this stuff. Your standards are way too low if you think what these guys are offering is 'good enough'.
  11. Are you still using the Sensor V2? The scant reviews that I can find as of today seem to really like it after the software updates. I really like the idea of having zero cables and not having to wear my headset all the time. I also like that it still costs less than half what a new TrackIR would cost me (I won't be giving them any more of my cash), and less than 1/3 of what a Tobii eye tracker would cost. Thoughts?
  12. No, I don't...and this is the problem, especially when they have such incredibly poor customer support. I can count, what, 5 people on this site that haven't had issues. Remember this thread was started by someone who had a pretty big issue after only one year of use...throttle doesn't work at all: "I have checked that your order has been over one year, in other words, your order is not covered by the warranty, so you need to pay the round-trip freight and maintenance costs. It's not very cheap. Maybe you can buy a new throttle base. It's up to you." I have been trying the last 2 weeks now to ask questions on their site, and get back (when I can actually FIND the 'support ticket' that I started...apparently, no way to find it in your account) a garbled message that needs translation. I'm only able to get to it by clicking on the link in the email I get from them saying a message has been added. My assertion still stands though that these companies start backing their high prices with actual warranties that reflect the supposed quality. I'm sure they understand that their customers are not Sally-soccer-mom buying a throttle for their 12 year old to play War Thunder. We are mature adults whom I'm sure 99.9% of which take great care of the things we buy and aren't abusing them. So, after one paltry year of use, they should be replacing that throttle no questions asked at their expense. If, as you assert, this is a tiny minority of buyers, the cost to them will be minimal, yet the boost to their reputation as a company will be great. When companies start refusing claims it's usually because they are getting so many defect requests from customers that they are in danger of losing a bunch of money (think GM, Dodge, and Ford to name a few...). What I want atm in any event isn't in stock (the Orion 2/collective grip 'combo'), so it's a moot point. I might just start with the F18 grip combo and add the collective later, as I mostly fly helicopters.
  13. Thousands? Do you have some solid market data to back up your comment? Do you have the data on how many have been returned or where people just gave up? I doubt it. Just about every Winwing story I hear and almost every video (where they actually paid for it) comes with the caveat that they had to fix or repair something to make it work, usually within the first year. There is also a general assertion that their service is terrible. The same can't be said for VKB, not sure about Virpil as they are out to lunch with their prices, and everything is always on backorder, so I never buy anything from them. Have you owned your Winwing stuff for 5 - 10+ years yet? No? Then you cannot comment on reliability because you have no idea. Winwing's response that 'you need to buy a new throttle'...you're okay with that kind of service?! You have very low standards if that's the case. Yes, they PARTIALLY recovered by paying for half to ship it all the way back to China, at great inconvenience and hassle to their customer. I paid $88 CAD for a brand new TWCS 5 years ago. After a little silicone spray to fix the stiction issue, it's worked perfectly in all that time. Do a little math, I could have bought 4 TWCS throttles for the cost of one Orion 2. I expect much better when I'm paying that much more. Again, low standards if you think it's ok that it breaks after a whole year. VKB, Virpil, and TM all need to step it up too when they are charging so much for this stuff...to play GAMES remember. The warranties should be at least 5 years if they really do 'back their products', that's not too much to ask. If there is a problem, they need to deal with it and not try to weasle out of it. I've dealt lots with returns from third party sellers on Amazon, Etsy, Synergee fitness recently, even Aliexpress, and in every case I've received a new item (usually without having to ship the old one back) or they just give me a refund. That's good customer service that allows you to keep your companies reputation intact. I want to buy a throttle from Winwing, I really do. I like the design, and I don't like either of the throttles from VKB or Virpil, and I will never buy an overpriced, under-designed Warthog throttle. I know though that the rage I will experience if I have the issues that many (more than a few) others seem to be having won't be worth it and I will regret not just sticking with my TWCS. Cracking it open and fixing it yourself and letting them off the hook is utter stupidity. If Winwing had shown rock solid customer service, I would be willing to take the risk. But they haven't shown that at all...yet. Maybe in a few more years?
  14. Older thread, but thanks to the OP (and a few other horror stories on here) as he has convinced me not to buy anything from Winwing. I have a TWCS throttle and VKB Gladiator NXT that have both been great for years now. I had a Saitek X45 HOTAS gathering dust that I sold last year for $60 that still worked perfectly after 22(!) years. There is zero excuse for this expensive stuff to break after one year. For what we are paying it should last 10 years at least without ANY issues. Cracking it open myself and trying to fix it after I paid that much cash.... Not likely. I'd like to ask OP how much he's now into this thing after having to ship it back and forth across the ocean? Redkite recently updated his review video to say that a few buttons had broken on his Orion 2 after one year. That's UNACCEPTABLE. I tried finding a way to ask a few questions on Winwing's site and could not find a way to do it, and it's the most unintuitive, unintelligible 'customer service' UI I have ever seen. I can't be bothered having to work this much just to play games. I may have to just stick with the TWCS for a while longer as nothing else out there turns my crank. I was really hoping that the Winwing throttle was going to be reliable as the price is very good...$349 CAD shipped (they do have a 'warehouse' in Canada now).
  15. It would be nice to see some helicopter tests down low and slow instead of everyone in the F18 and F16 up high.
  16. OP already indicated that 4K is not an option. I'd only get 4K or an OLED TV for gaming if I wanted to spend the cash on a 4090 (I won't), as this is the only truly capable 4K GPU out there (i.e., you won't run into games that force you to turn down a bunch of settings). The Gigabyte M32Q is a great monitor, and right now the LG 32GP750 can be found on sale for very cheap. If you have a flight seat or any kind of cockpit other than a regular office chair, the 32" screen is ideal as you'll be sitting back from the screen automatically.
  17. You don't really say, but I assume you ordered directly from Next Level?
  18. It looks pretty close actually after watching a few more review videos. I see that it does come with a custom KB and mouse pad, and the lumbar support. I also see that I would be able to attach my racing wheel and pedals with the front support tray, so it's now on my list for purchase in the fall when I get back inside the house for our extremely cold winters. This is the first thing I've seen that can replace my very robust home-built rolling wood/mdf 'cockpit' for a reasonable price and footprint. I'd say we can all probably thank MSFS (that I don't own) for the decent hardware that's starting to appear for flight sims (i.e. this and the HF8 seat pad). The only thing that nobody has addressed is the ability to mount a collective stick on the side, although somebody will figure it out soon enough and post a video I'm sure. Also, my bad, I missed that the OP has the Crosswind pedals installed...
  19. I'm looking at this but the very narrow range of options for the pedals and stick mount turn me off. That, and the very uncomfortable looking seat. When I spend $1,100 CAD on something, I had better not have to 'drill holes' and 'fabricate' anything to make things work. I have Crosswind pedals and a VKB Gladiator NXT stick, but it doesn't look as though either will work with this out of the box. What were they thinking designing it like this? They just assumed that everyone has a TM Warthog and/or plays nothing but MSFS? EDIT: I watched a video and see that there is a 'plate' for a right-hand joystick mount where the mouse sits, and Crosswind is mentioned as supported hardware, so I assume my pedals would have mounting holes. Question: does this come with a mouse pad? I see a 'thin' one in the video beside where the joystick would mount. Does it also come with a lumbar support? Several Amazon reviews said it did not come with these, yet it says they are included on the Next Level site.
  20. Do you mean this one, or the Pro? You need 2 of them? I see a lot of people using the Nobsound Mini NS-20G with 2 BST-1 shakers: https://www.amazon.ca/Nobsound-Subwoofer-Amplifier-Bridge-Theater/dp/B07MR6YCQ1/ref=d_pd_di_sccai_cn_sccl_2_1/136-1547391-1220219?pd_rd_w=xpJw0&content-id=amzn1.sym.d6674fdf-bd00-4d07-8317-6dfd6c498cdf&pf_rd_p=d6674fdf-bd00-4d07-8317-6dfd6c498cdf&pf_rd_r=H4HZKP0BN7WG0NNYAQDA&pd_rd_wg=DWTZp&pd_rd_r=4bed14ab-6b70-4952-991b-cd5a28eb4ba5&pd_rd_i=B07MR6YCQ1&psc=1
  21. I hope they get it right with DCS. From what I've seen the racing software they provide is hot garbage and everyone uses SimHUB instead. I would also like to use this for driving games. I have a Playseat Challenge that gathers dust because it's such a pain to switch out with my sim chair (mainly the space it all takes), but I may be more motivated if I can switch this seat between them. It's either that or I'll add a NL Wheel Stand 2.0 for a semi-permanent setup, and then I could add the DIY setup with a couple BST-1 shakers. Maybe I'll wait and see how the DCS software fares first.
  22. Just to be clear, if I were to buy the HF8, all I need for DCS is the Simshaker software (free)? It's only with a Buttkicker or home built that I would need the extra paid add-on module?
  23. Thanks both of you for the info. I'm going to have a look and see where I could mount them directly on the back of the car seat (may have to cut it open). Otherwise it will have to be directly on the wood base of the rig, I just don't know if this will be sufficient to transfer up into the chair (may need something like a Buttkicker Gamer Plus for that). I've also looked at the BST-1 bass shaker to mount directly on the base, but again, I'm not sure if that will be enough. The Gamer Plus says from 75w to 250w max power, but how does that directly compare to the 50W BST-1? I'm assuming you can't compare them directly like that? Do these things transfer better into wood, or aluminum (like most rigs seem to be made from)?
  24. Thanks, will do. I'll use that link to match the specs with what I end up getting.
  25. Good to know, thanks. I like my car seat too, and really don't want to downgrade my comfort. What did you get for pucks/amp?
