  1. I'm thinking I will just get the Jetseat. After adding up the cost of separate pieces for the 'shaker' setup and trying to add it to my current home-made sim rig (pictured), I'll be into it for over $200, and I'm not sure I'd get the same effect? Or would there be a good way to install those to my rig (it rolls on heavy duty casters)? I thought about cutting the back of the seat and installing the wooden board, as in the OP's original video. I'm assuming though that the Jetseat would still be a lot 'better'? In addition to DCS I will also use it for racing games and IL2. Do I need to pay for the software for this on top of buying the Jetseat, or is that included? Andre's website is not clear in this regard.
  2. I'm curious to know too if these 'Jetseats' are worth the expense. It will cost me at least $409 CAD for one. With the faster shipping option (2-5 days instead of 60+!!) it's another $90! I also see that the actual seat has radically changed from the 'massage pad' that they used to offer. They must be making them in house now? I'm not sure if they also charge duties or additional taxes when it crosses the border. Has anyone here from Canada ordered one?
  3. And kept that decision to themselves until now...brilliant communications strategy! Neither was the Hind fully released when the trial was offered. Try to follow along here please...
  4. You should have clarified this from the start, and this thread wouldn't have to exist. In another thread, you said it would be part of the trial on release (maybe it was Nineline). No mention of Autumn. Seems you guys are still learning how to properly communicate with your customers, not our fault.
  5. Not that I need to respond to your drivel, but I am a customer, and IL2 offers up a hell of a lot more planes for a tiny fraction of the price. I don't give a toss if they have clicky cockpits. Yah, the WW2 planes are not an instant buy for me by any stretch. This ain't the Apache. I already have every module of IL2, and paid a grand total of about $70 CAD for ALL of them on sale. This one plane is $63 CAD, on sale, and with zero content. They need to convince me to buy it, and a trial is the only way I may be convinced.
  6. Not until I get to try it it isn't. I don't have any WW2 planes yet. The new ones should be the first ones added to the trial so they can take advantage of the 'hype-sales'. I'm wondering why there's been no response from ED yet after they clearly stated it would be part of the trial.
  7. When will this be part of the Free-to-Play promo? NineLine says it will be when released in the pre-order thread, but what constitutes a 'release'? I tried to add it in my account, but it isn't in there.
  8. Uh, no. The Steam community 'as a whole' means the entire Steam community bud, not just DCS. Much bigger than the regulars lurking on the ED forums. I noticed they DID include news of the Summer Sale on the Steam newsletter this time...so, I guess I was correct. Also, yes, they have needed marketing advice in the past and it looks as though they either figured that out themselves, or got some finally (oh-oh, non-fanboi-alert!). Yes, that's how I understand it, so sort of a one-time 50% deal.
  9. The Steam community as a whole is much larger. A lot of the people on here were originally on Steam and probably became aware of DCS through Steam (myself included), which makes a lot of sense. For almost every other release/sale/event, the newsletter on Steam always includes the same information as on the website in my experience, even if it's not offered on Steam. This, again, makes sense, if ED actually wants new players to buy their product that is.
  10. The usual flight-simmer snark isn't necessary, unless it's a language barrier thing? Calling newcomers 'a bunch of idiots' is why a lot of people despise the flight sim/wargame community. Lighten up, it's a game. It IS NOT easy to find the instructions on the Steam website (ZERO mention of it in the newsletter), and not everyone goes to the homepage of the website as it is often NOT updated (and yah, I've been around a while). I found it in the forums, but only by searching the threads as there is no sticky that doesn't require you to guess which page the latest newsletter is on. Now, having gone to the homepage I see it takes you directly to the place you need to go (for once). Yes, as I say above, on the website. I think people here seem to forget or discount the fact that the Steam community is far bigger and many go there for their information. The Steam newsletter doesn't say anything about how to get the trial, look it up. Is this some inside nerd-joke or something? I don't get it...
  11. So this only applies to total newcomers that don't own any modules? I'm unable to download any 'free' modules that I don't already own in the module manager, it still says 'buy' for all of them. Is this only for Stable branch or something? EDIT: Had to search for the solution (why ED? Why make it complicated?), but see that you have to login at the website first and then attach it to your account, which is NOT the way the free trials have been in the past.
  12. I've been buying from them since 2011. I recently bought a widescreen monitor for use with DCS, DIDN'T OPEN IT as I changed my mind, and returned it to them at my expense (cost me $60 to ship it back to Ontario, plus I lost the original $10 shipping). I have NEVER returned anything to them before. I get the return invoice today and here they charged me a $90 restocking fee because they said I opened it!!! What a load of absolute BS!! The box had a small piece of tape holding it closed, that's it. I even taped over that with my shipping label just to be sure it couldn't be tampered with. I chatted with their support, they wouldn't budge. They said I needed to 'prove' that it was unopened. They could easily just slice the tape and say I opened it. What a bush-league joke. After this experience I will NEVER buy anything from them again. Only Costco, Memory Express, Canada Computers, or Amazon. I've never had any issues returning things to any of them. What a bad taste this leaves in my mouth...
  13. Rudder pedals are definitely a good buy for the helicopters (I have them all), but you can use the twist axis with the Mi8 and fly just fine. I have an old Logitech 3D Pro and did try it once and I thought it worked quite well for the Huey too. The hardest thing about the Mi8 is landing.
  14. As I said a few posts up, I literally just received my V3 Crosswinds about 1 1/2 weeks ago now. I could have put these in with that order and paid no more shipping. Now they'll cost me another $30 of shipping, plus $52 CAD + tax for the damper. I'm a bit sour I didn't do that in the first place. I will end up getting them at some point I'm sure.
  15. Is the one you get off Aliexpress (a site I've never bought from...I'm in Canada) the exact same as the one on the MFG site? Do I then have to assemble it to make it like that one? They will fit my V3 Crosswinds without any dicking around? How do I pay you? Paypal?
  16. Which 38" is that? The ones I see all have heights of 14.7", which is still a full 2" shorter than my 32". It's also only 0.4" taller than the 34". The Gigabyte G34WQC is only $599 CAD, and I've seen it as low as $500. I can't find anything larger than 34" for under $1,000, and most are around $2,000, which is way more than I'm willing to spend. I can get a nice 65" OLED TV for that price.
  17. I bookmarked it. The total cost though would be about double just ordering it from MFG if I also need to buy the damper. I may just wait until you have it on the MFG site.
  18. The shrunken vertical dimension doesn't bother you though? I suppose if you had a 27" it would be the same, but it's a rather noticeable jump going to a 32" (my son has a 27").
  19. Yah, he's on glue. I've also read that making out ground targets in VR can be very difficult. I play mostly helicopters, Harrier, A10 II, and the F18. I watch Rod White (youtube) and he has quit with VR completely because of the performance issues (he plays with a 2080 Super I believe). I have a 3070/5600x, so I should easily be able to play in VR. You are obviously one of the lucky ones with VR as I have heard far too many stories of people being bed-ridden for several hours and sometimes days after playing in VR. All the games I want to play are the main ones that cause VR sickness (flight sims and racing). Until I can try it out somewhere in a flight sim, I just can't spend the cash on what may end up a high-priced doorstop. On the monitor, I don't think I'll be getting a curved one at all as even the 32" non-Ultrawides are very skinny vertically (14.3"). I didn't realize they were all like that.
  20. I could get an X34 locally used (not the superior X34P), but the guy wants $800 CAD and won't budge, which is way too much. I use a TrackHat clip (have had TrackIR too...flimsy, broke) and sit a good ways back in my custom flight chair, so I like having the 32" as 27" is too small. I'm thinking now that the skinny vertical of the Ultrawide will be even more pronounced though from a distance. I've waffled on VR, but I have Cougar MFDs already (on a separate 11.6" screen) and I worry about the poor resolution and performance I keep hearing about in DCS, and the risk of motion sickness, which many seem to experience. Maybe if ED fixes the performance issues someday... Thanks, I'm thinking I may go with the first option (32" curved). You hear lots of differing opinions in reviews. Some absolutely hate the curved screen.
  21. I have a 32" IPS 1440p 75Hz LG flat screen ATM. I love the picture and it was quite cheap at $220 USD (Costco), but my son is moving out right away and long story short, I have an opportunity to replace my screen. I use it exclusively for gaming, mostly flight sims (DCS, IL2), but also strategy games, Squad, and Dirt Rally 2. I was looking at this one: https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX00112654 Or this: https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX00113791 I don't know though if I want an Ultrawide as it really shrinks vertically from what I have now (16.7 vs 14.3"). Seems too skinny. I have a 3070/5600X. High refresh rates really don't matter that much to me, nor do I care about 4K or VR. Thoughts? Is the curve worth the upgrade?
  22. I wish I would have known that these exist. I just received my pedals (V3) a week ago and would have added them to the shipment had I known. Now I would have to pay another $30 in shipping again...not gonna happen. Let us know how it is when you get it installed though please.
  23. I could be wrong, but I think they said the discount ends once they hit early access, which makes sense really. I don't understand why some developers (I'm looking at you Battlefront) provide 'pre-orders' without any incentive to do so (i.e. discount).
  24. That's the same argument between the Warthog stick and VKB, but I am more concerned with the quality of the overall product and user experience. The Crosswinds have been around for many years now, and I doubt you'll find anyone ever say a bad word about them...other than price of course. Either pedals would be great, but the Crosswinds are actually in stock, unlike pretty much everything from Virpil. I won't say 'they're well worth the money' as I feel that all this stuff is way overpriced just to play games, but I added it up to 3 of my wife's ridiculously expensive haircuts (money I'll never see again), and these can always be sold down the road if you want to. She p*ssed me off the other day and I ordered them . I've never seen a bad review for them. I also use them for IL2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6mukkJR0mg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tIMiJ9XjPqo
