So, I'll assume there's nothing out there. Back to the Aces II.
-
Definitely a No from this guy. I get some people want basics and ED has supplied a number of them already. There's far more relevant aircraft that could be focused on such as the F-15, F-16, Full professional internal and external Migs/SU's. For me personally, with the Harrier, Tomcat and Hornet I'm more than happy to see more resources put on maps than anything else but a close second would be Russian air frames as well as red/blue weapons systems simply to better the realism as a 1980's based combat simulator.

I need to build a better pit and I have all the ideas I need but I can't for the life of me find a chair with the proper joystick cutout like an ejection seat has. All the gamer chairs I have seen are more for racing than flying fighters. I have the plans and I'm mostly done an aces II ejection seat but I don't think its what I want in the end. Anybody have a link?

[MERGED] DirectX 11/12, OpenGL, VulkanAPI Discussion
Gladman replied to Cskelly's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I may be incorrect but I believe the new engine (2.5) is centered around DX11. -
I think we should pay for the new CAUCASUS????

I think the 2 of you got into the Christmas peyote. -
I use this for both pitch and roll http://www.csg-1.com/gallery/m/37997028/detail/271306#pid=2595683

Cool, the future is bright. By the way ED, I really like the mini updates and coming additions posts. Its really nice to see information coming our way.

Whats the "IPD Distance" thinger?

With all due respect, your not the one paying for Bombardier's handouts while your province and industry struggles to survive.
-
Weta43, I as a Canadian tax paying citizen simply choose to disagree with you.

Having enough energy to reach and being effective are two entirely different things. Have I had kills at 15 miles, yes. Where they maneuvering to avoid, no. The most effective range for the 530 is within 10 miles. I'd say the same for the Aim-7. Beyond that, the real point is that you aren't getting an F-15 with Aim-120's. The Mirage is a close range AA combat airframe. Great fun, slightly more effective than an F-5.
-
Right now the Harrier is capable of Mav's, rockets, dumb bombs, guns, and Aim-9s. No LGB's at this time. Its very capable as it sits, early access or not. AA refueling and VTOL are both exceptional. The onboard nav system doesn't work yet but you can preplan waypoints for missions in the editor. The majority of radio systems aren't in place but the basics are there. The Mirage is a good jet but its AG is limited and its AA is close range. The mid range missiles are really only effective 10 or less miles out. You can get a Aim-9 in the Harrier off at half that. To suggest the Harrier is in the very early stages of development and has limited functionality is a huge stretch.

You should post a video and describe your step by step procedure.

Thats the reality, we are passionate about what we know. The trickle down effect of oil patch job losses has been insane where I live. We used to have all those cool little shops and frozen yogurt places, now we can barely keep Tims open.
-
Well Charly your welcome to your opinion. You want to talk about thousands of jobs? Where's the money for the oil workers in Alberta, the mine workers in Saskatchewan, the forestry workers in BC, etc etc etc. There wasn't any. Bombardier doesn't even come close the the number of people that were involved in those economic downturns most of which were not because of poor management decisions which is Bombardiers problem. I believe in companies standing on their own two feet. Either they make it or they don't and Bombardier can't cut it.
-
I don't think I'm actually that torn up about the cost, what really gets me is that our government doesn't seem to get the fact that we need a properly equipped airforce. Canada is one of the top industrial countries in the world and we equip or fighting force with outdated, second hand aircraft for no reason other than political posturing. Its just sad.
-
Good point Skate. We sure aren't on the winning side of this.
-
Its more complicated than that Boris. Bombardier has received millions in grants and loans from the Canadian public. There was many many people against it but Bombardier simply represents the definition of corporate welfare. In my opinion, Bombarier should be left to die and the US trade association has made a proper call.

I understand the required update is in beta. I would think it'll be available in the next couple weeks.
-
You'll come to the dark side in time. Joking of course. The A-10C is a great airframe. I spent a lot of time in it. Keep an eye on the Harrier though. My only real gripe with the A-10 was that AA refueling is busted at this time whereas the Harrier is good to go and to be honest the A-10 is just so slow it got a little monotonous. It did however teach me patience so its a tradeoff. I'm sure you'll enjoy learning the systems and the huge payload.
-
I've also had both. I'd agree with GiJoe's statement.
-
Just an aside. My group has starting using A-10C missions for the Harrier. Its as easy as loading the mission into the editor and changing it out. Given that, there are vast amounts of missions for both single and multi player readily available.
-
Harrier. Its in early access but, its easy to learn the simple things like CCIP bombing, rockets etc. The Mavs have several different ways to be used, LGB's on the way that you can use with your own systems or buddy laze, and man is the thing fun to takeoff and land. AA refueling is more challenging than anything I've done, carrier VTOL landings are a real challenge and very rewarding when accomplished. I tell ya, I was always a Hornet guy but the Harrier has me hooked.

how is everyone dealing with clickable cockpit in VR?
Gladman replied to hannibal's topic in Virtual Reality
I use both a mouse and have the Warthog throttle mouse button setup. I find the majority of things I can get with the throttle button but those that are close to your butt or behind are hard to reach so I use the regular mouse for that.
