  1. Not to sound too paranoid, but are the files for the mod hosted anywhere else? Mediafire is one of things I learned never to click links on...
  2. I want to practice formation flying with an AI, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to get the AI to use the same IAS throughout the flight. There are options to set fixed speed between waypoints, but it seems to be locked to GS only, and I can't change this. So this means that throughout different altitudes during the flight, the IAS will change. I do have the waypoints vary in altitude throughout the flight so it's a bit annoying having to guess what IAS the AI is flying all the time to maintain correct separation. Is there some way I can get a desired fixed IAS speed between waypoints?
  3. I might be doing something wrong because I'm fairly new, but I'm having some trouble with clouds. In particular, the fact that the clouds are covering target areas and I can't see through them, and that the clouds are sitting at only 5,000ft so going under the clouds I'm in great danger. I am suspecting that this might something with a recent version of DCS, because when I look at youtube videos of others doing the same missions, they don't have these clouds at all. There are a few sporadic poofs at much higher altitudes, but there in those videos the pilots are sitting comfortably at 10-15 thousand feet sniping things with Mavs and JDAMS, but when I do the missions I have to search for breaks in the clouds to even be able to see the enemy. Can someone confirm please if that is the case and is there some way that I can force the missions to use older clouds?
  4. Awesome, thanks for answering! Going to get these tonight
  5. I am talking about these ones: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/shop/campaigns/a-10c_bft_campaign/ https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/shop/campaigns/advanced_aircraft_training_qualification_campaign/ https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/shop/campaigns/a-10c_ttq_campaign/ I want to purchase them, but I notice that they have a requirement for the "I" version of the A-10C, not the "II" version. This makes me worry if these are current and will they work properly, has anyone done them recently? I was looking over the posts here and there are lots of people posting about this or that broken in some kind of campaign here or there. Sometimes they say it's because the Caucasus map had changed making the mission impossible and stuff like that.
  6. Thanks WipeUout, I used the shortcuts described in that exact topic. But actually I just realized what my problem was, it was PEBKAC as usual. Somehow I set my SteamVR settings to be like 5000x5000 resolution per eye. Didn't even notice that I had done it. When I changed that back to default, the game is working fine now. Still have some visual problems that I need to figure out and tweak, though. Like things don't look very good when at high speeds. They kind of like "wobble".
  7. So I followed the instructions to create a shortcut that does "--force_enable_VR" and also I tried with both either "--force_steam_VR" or "--force_OpenXR". In both cases I have a problem that when the map loads the game stutters impossibly. I am not talking about just low FPS below 60. I am talking about the game is rendering like maybe 1 frame per 5 seconds. It's so bad that I can't even move the mouse cursor across the screen. I don't know what's going on! I have the game updated, I tried both with the MT exe and the regular one. My VR works fine in other games, but here it is crazy like that. I searched for other topics with similar issues, and someone commented about issues with some kind of Asus software for lighting up RGB, but I don't have anything like that and I didn't find any other answers. Anyone ever have this kind of issue before or could suggest what else I should try? My system specs: i9-11900k 32gb RAM nvidia 4070 ti DCS installed on an SSD
  8. All the more reason that a lower resolution in the VR headset would achieve higher frame rates, is it not?
  9. Hi All, I was hoping you could help me make an informed decision. This will be my first time trying VR as I now have a computer system that can probably handle it (i9-11900k, 4070ti). Since I am not experience in VR I can't rightfully claim what is more important for VR, and will have to rely on your guidance. However, I am that kind of gamer that still uses a 1080p monitor, but with a very high refresh rate. For me, that makes a huge huge difference, and I am guessing for VR that having high FPS running on high refresh would be even more important. All that said, after doing a bunch of research, it seems to me that the Valve Index is going to be the best option. It has good FOV, the headset itself is supposedly highly adjustable and good quality, and it has adjustable refresh rate that can go pretty high. The only down side is the lower resolution compared to other VR headsets, but correct me if I'm wrong that the two 1440x1600 eyepieces combined together provide a comparable image quality to a 1080p monitor, do they not? That would mean that it should help to hit higher FPS rates at those resolutions. I am not too stressed about the lower resolution image quality because I have never gamed on anything higher than 1080p myself, but I am worried about being able to read labels/MFDs in the cockpit if the resolution proves to be a little too grainy. Truth be told, I often have to zoom in now to read fine details on my current monitor anyway, so if there is a zoom option available in VR I figure that I should be fine, but I would love to hear what others have experienced and how it felt for them. I wasn't able to find a lot of topics in this forum regarding the Index so I wasn't able to research answers to these kind of questions, but I'm also a little concerned whether it's not a popular option for DCS because of something I'm missing.
  10. I am probably going to eventually buy all of them (https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/shop/campaigns/filter/aircraft-is-f-a-18c/apply/), but as a new flyer which one would be best? Something that isn't very difficult and has a nice progression curve? I have both the Syria and the Persian Gulf maps (and NTTR) so those are not a concern. And I have the supercarrier pack too.
  11. I want to get an extension for my TM Warthog for two reasons. One is that I want to put the stick closer to my knees using amount like the FoxxMount. Two is that I read that have a longer stick will make it more precise. However I am unsure of what length extension I need? Has anyone tried different ones and can provide some perspective? I don't want to go overboard with the length because then I know that the springs won't be able to really do their job with centering properly.
  12. So turns out I'm an idiot. I've tried all the things you two have suggested, but they didn't work. Then because of a nagging feeling in the back of my head I tried an instant action mission with the airplane hot, and everything was working fine. So I guess the controls weren't working because hydraulics needed power. That's pretty embarrassing of me, but I think what threw me off was that the stick in the cockpit would not move left/right. I probably would have realized what was happening if the stick was moving, but the control surfaces were not. In any case, everything is working fine, I appreciate the help you have provided, and I'm sorry for wasting your time!
  13. I am having an issue with A-10A. I have it from the Flaming Cliffs 3 module. The Roll controls are not responding at all. And the Pitch controls only respond to go up, but not down. I've tried entirely disconnecting all of my USB controllers, only mouse and keyboard plugged in, and using the arrow keys to move the control stick (left, right, up, down). The problem still persists, so I think it's a problem with the game, not my joysticks. I have restarted my computer, and also I have uninstalled FC3 from the module manager, and then installed it again. The problem is still there. Does anyone have this problem also? How can I fix it?
  14. Thanks for confirming that it's at least possible, because I was able to figure it out! In case someone else needs it, here's how I was able to do it: First you need to click the "modifiers" key in controls and add a new modifier key there if you need to like me. Since I wanted the modifier to be a button on my joystick, it's not one of the pre-made modifiers like shift or ctrl and etc. Once you click it, click the "add" button under "Switches", and then press the button you want to use. After that, you can use this new modifier like any other modifier. First bind the axis that you want to use (in my case the rudder axis). Then select it again and apply a modifier key to it.
  15. Hello, I am trying to see if it is possible to use a modifier key (either held down, or toggle) to change what assignment axis some inputs will use. I do not have rudder pedals, instead I have some racing pedals. I am using vJoy and UCR to map the clutch and accelerator pedals as if they were rudder inputs. It works great, but I distinctly lack toe break axis. What I want to do is to use a modifier key so that when I press it, the pedals will be assigned to the toe break axis. When the modifier key is not pressed, they will be assigned to rudder input. Is something like this even possible?
  16. Hi All, I am looking for tips, advice, guidance, or maybe links towards materials that can help me train better to fly WWII planes. I've so far gotten pretty decent at take offs and landings and after some practice with guns and munitions by following the "challenge campaign" I thought I was ready, but after playing just the first mission of "Blue Nosed Bastards" campaign for P-51D, I understand that I am not ready at all. I need to learn and practice a lot more very basics. But I am having trouble to understand _what_ I need to learn. The tutorials and the manuals cover basics about the craft itself, but do not touch much at all on flying in general, and that is what I am missing. So far I figured this is the least that I need to learn and practice: Start ups Taxi Take offs Landings (<-- I'm pretty good up to this point) Coordinated flight Navigation without instruments Basic maneuvers (which ones?) Chandelles Loops (do these actually have a practical application?) Barrel rolls? (Same question as above?) Formation Flying Situational awareness and spotting. More advanced maneuvers ("boom and zoom", "turn fighting", "scissors", I don't know what else?) Lacking a flight instructor, I have to figure out on my own what it is that I even lack, so I appreciate any guidance!
  17. I was able to make a copy of the tutorial mission and if I edit the existing waypoints, then I can create new gates and move them around and everything. But if I start a new mission from scratch, and I create waypoints, I can't figure out how to make them show up as green gates in the 3d world.
  18. Thanks for helping me out. Batumi is set to blue, here's a screenshot. Also here is the mission file that I made Mine.miz
  19. Okay it's weird. On the Normandy map, all this works fine. I tried with multiple airfields at different frequencies, I could communicate with each. But on the Caucus map I could not. Yet the pre-built missions for the Caucus map work okay... I don't know what's the difference.
  20. Radio works fine when I try the pre-built instant action missions such as "Cold start Vaziami" or "Takeoff Batumi". I think this must be something I am not doing right with the mission editor when I am creating my own mission? Is there maybe some sort of ATC configuration I need to set up? Edit: to be clear - as you can see from my screenshot above, I have set the pre-defined Channel "B" to frequency "131 Mhz" in the mission editor, which is one of the frequencies that Batumi communicates on.
  21. I just bought the Channel map because of the many (and excellent, I am told) campaigns created for that map. I have no idea when or if ever any of those campaigns would be getting recreated to use a different map. I know the ones that were designed for the Original Normandy are probably going to get remade, but not sure about the ones for The Channel. And since you get a discount for Normandy if you have The Channel, it made sense to buy that first and then follow up with Normandy.
  22. Thanks! Now I can see that notice on the main page as well. Wasn't there for me before I went ahead and ordered the Spitfire and the BF109. I changed my mind and got that instead of the FW. I think the 109 is more iconic and I personally always wanted to. What did everyone else get?
  23. Hi Cpt. TRIJJ I just recently purchased TrackIR 5 about 4 - 6 weeks ago. I live in Canada, and I didn't want to risk buying from Amazon (because it doesn't look like NP has an official store there?), so I bought from their official reseller for Canada - https://www.extremegamingdevices.com/detailed_specification_pages/naturalpoint_trackir_5.html Here is there list of official resellers for orders outside of the US, take a look - https://www.trackir.com/dealers
  24. Thanks I tried to disable the easy comms option in the options. This disabled the greyed out airfields, however the airfield is still not responding. I tried using Alt+\ as well. The radio is set to REM, and Channel B (which in the mission options I set to be 131 mhz). Please take a look at these screenshots. One shows the radio controls in flight, the other shows the plane radio config in the mission editor for the mission I am flying.
  25. Oh okay so I misunderstood then and it's just a sale? That's great! But I didn't see any news announcing the sale, like for how long for example. I wonder what I should get. I have the P-51D now. I figure I need at least one axis plane so I can play on the red side in multiplayer. I figure the Dora would be a good pick? And then would love to try the Spitfire, too.
