  1. Guys that have flown DCS on oculus rift: Does it fix the spotting problem? Or we still need scaling for it to work right?
  2. Good job! Does anyone have similar kneeboard-ready image guides for other DCS aircraft?
  3. Is there any special control to turn on the second stage afterburner? I see that AI migs have different shaped exaust flame when going full speed, is it possible that they are using "more" afterburner than me at full throttle? both afb lights are on.
  4. I bought the Mig yesterday and cant stop flying it! And there are still many things left to figure out how they work! Best DCS module for me! Great job guys.
  5. In DCS we need roughly that much to down an AI fighter...
  6. This is by far my favorite bird of ww2, and the module is really well done. I am hoping for many more ww2 planes in DCS.
  7. I tried it with a couple of friends with Hueys vs Ka-50, and the Ka-50 won every time. We were about equally skilled.
  8. Thanks for the replies guys! Tried MP today, shot down an Su-33 who left his jammer on for some reason. Now I see what you mean by helping your enemy with ECM :) In general, is it more advisable to be above your opponent when engaging in BVR? I mostly flew ww1/ww2 stuff and altitude there is crucial. I imagine it to be less so in modern jet combat, because you can basically power your way up to your altitude ceiling in no time.
  9. I just got F-15C few days ago and I love it. This is the first time I got more seriously into fast jet air to air combat. I read the manual and have been watching some youtube videos, while practicing on that instant flight mission where you spawn a Russian fighter and go 1v1 on him. So far my procedure is as such: 1.Use AWACS and/or RWR to get an opponent between my 1 and 2 o'clock (or 10-11), maybe 5k feet above him. 2.When I estimate that I am at about 25 miles away from him, or he starts locking me (fast RWR ping) I turn on radar, and go full afterburner. I also turn on ECM 3.When about 20 miles away, I point my nose towards him, fire off an AIM-120C, and put him again on my 1-2 o'clock. If he fired a missile, I start dispensing chaff and pulling Gs. 4.It will usually hit, if it didn't, I try to get another 120C in before engaging him in close combat. 5.In close combat I usually win using sidewinder/guns, because AI doesn't turn that well. Now I find these tactics very effective against all Russian fighters except the MiG-31. He locks me in and fires a R-33 from over 50 miles away, forcing me on the defensive... I have to get him to expend all his R-33s in order to get him, and more often than not he shoots me down in the process. Su-30 is also slightly more dangerous than the others. Havn't yet tried against other NATO fighters. Any tips on what can be done better, and how to fight the 31?
  10. FW-190D and Bf-109K, as they are being released first.
  11. 109 all the way. I was pretty decent with it in IL-2 online, but never could fly the 190 well enough.
  12. This is much better, thank you!
  13. I am sure that they put the Mustang as the first plane because they don't lose any potential sales of it because all the people that would have bought it already did. And while its good economical decision, it is not at all nice to us loyal customers...
  14. At first, when I read this, I was upset. I felt cheated, 40$ is a big deal in my country, and instead of all the planes and a map I am getting only one plane and a map. Those that say "sell the mustang key" are not considering that it is already dirt cheap, and it's gonna be even cheaper when we all get our double mustang keys. Don't you think they didn't think of that when they put the mustang for all the pledges above 20 dollars? I thought that I should boycott ED products from now on or something... But then again, this is the only high fidelity flight sim in development. If ED loses sales and decides not to continue making DCS titles, I don't thing we will ever get this level of detail in a combat flight sim. It is just too costly and the market is too small... So I am left with bitter taste in my mouth, but will continue to buy ED products when they go on discount or something. They could make this half right by allowing us to select which planes we want. But I don't think that will happen
  15. I am really looking forward to updates like this one.
  16. I would, but those freezes I get, especially when I put more than 4gb or RAM, are suggesting a motherboard problem. So it has to happen this week, because I need a stable platform for work.
  17. Ok so my current computer is old and slowly failing, with freezes happening every now and then, and I decided to change the motherboard, CPU and RAM (has to be DDR3). Im gonna keep my GeForce 560Ti, maybe change it in a year or so. So I am asking this here because flight sims are gonna be the most difficult task for this new computer to handle. I want it to run DCS, Cliffs of Dover, and BOS in the future flawlessly. I may play other games occasionally, but in my experience they are mostly GPU intensive. The work I do on the computer is not demanding on performance. So the main question is one from the topic title: Will I get anything from spending those extra 90 euros, specifically in flight simming?
  18. True! Though it is understandable that many people here are brits and they want their country's planes the most. I would also love to fly Typhoon and Tempest.
  19. I wonder how hard would be to include, lets say, the G-6 version of 109, Mk 5 spit, or the Razorback p-47 later? Would it take nearly as much time as making a new aircraft?
  20. I am sure that they are going to model it so that it can very easily be broken if not flown carefully. Also, if on a server with 30 people there are only like 2 Me-262s it can also be rare. Mustangs could catch them on their landing approach or after takeoff. So I don't see the problem there.
  21. If we went by that logic, they should scrap the western front idea altogether, and make the Russian front instead? A lot more casualties on both sides happened there, and it was more decisive to the outcome of the war. Lets just be happy with what we have. Though if you ask me, I am all for more German planes :)
  22. Great job guys. I hope this turns out to be the sim all of us have been dreaming for, with many aircraft, theaters, campaigns, with everything realistic to the switch. Please keep us updated with screenshots as development progresses.
  23. I think the big problem of todays sims is that the "game" element is missing. You get excellent simulation of aircraft and its systems, but you are left with not much to do with it. Fine example of a good game I played recently is Euro Truck Simulator 2. You may say "what the hell is fun in driving a truck in a game?". That's exactly what I thought when I first heard about the game. But it is surprisingly addictive because it has a sandbox campaign where you start working for other companies, then you create your company and drive your own truck, and later you can hire other drivers and buy them trucks to work for you. Both DCS and CloD don't have much in it except for the simulation itself. The campaigns in both games are lacking. Rise of flight has some sort of dynamic campaign, but it is somehow bland and cant compare to lets say Red Baron 2. Old IL--2 had DGEN which was fun for a while but could be done better. I think that by working on interesting dynamic campaign, with different pilots flying in your squadron, awards, promotions, demotions, etc, you can bring in more players to the game.
  24. It is much harder to fly than both huey and hokum for me. Somehow that feels right :) Also I love its heavy armament, 120 rockets is a lot of firepower.
