WTH happened to the load times?
Geronimo989 replied to ScottishMartialArts's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Adding 2GB RAM more solved it for me too. Now the load times are acceptable (1-2 mins) and the game stutters less. Thanks! -
WTH happened to the load times?
Geronimo989 replied to ScottishMartialArts's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I really hope someone from ED is watching this, since I can't really be bothered to wait for 4-5 minutes for my game to load... And I really want to fly around in Mi-8... -
I think it is realistic to aim for 150k! Cmon guys, lets get to the me-262! I think that probably they have access to some russian archives, that are not generally available on the net. It makes sense that russians tested and documented the K version most, because after the war ended it was maybe the best piston engined fighter in the world.

I am curious, what kind of missions did the B-17 fly over Normandy? Did it take off from bases in France? I always imagined it mostly in daylight raids on German cities.

I built something cool while waiting for DCS:WW2

Very well done! I never thought of the mustang as a heavyweight fighter, but it looks like it was. EDIT: Looks like the 109 was the best one in most aspects! I wonder, what was the Dora better at? -
Very good idea, I wish Luthier would see this.

WTH happened to the load times?

The load times in 1.2.6 are over 3 minutes for me, over 3 times longer than they used to be. It is making gameplay very annoying. -
Business model behind this project?
Geronimo989 replied to Flagrum's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
You guys should really add something inbetween the 100k and 375k goal, or you will face massive withdrawal of pledges if it gets to like 200k -
Which aircraft are you most interested in?
Geronimo989 replied to Griffin's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Even though the 109 has been my ride of choice for most of my flight sim time, I have voted the Thunderbolt, because we have the 109 in Clod (I know that is Emil and this is Kurfurst, bu we don't have any clickable thunderbolt). I have been impressed by that plane's size ever since seeing it in a museum as a kid. It is one massive monster of a plane! Can't imagine how it sounds when it flies by! 3. Me-262 4. Fw 190 A 5. Spit 6. Typhoon 7. Lightning 8. B-17 9. Invader 10. Mosquito After that I would hope they make Bf-110, and the Stuka, though I don't know if it had flown in Normandy -

Just thinking about this puts a big smile on my face :D -
How many of you regularly fly medium/heavy bombers?
Geronimo989 replied to Geronimo989's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
What do you think about Junkers from Cliffs of Dover? -
I am not sure this is the right place for this poll, but I guess that I will get biggest response from WW2 flight sim fans here. I was surprised by the enthusiasm of people to get the flyable b-17 as soon as possible, because while it is a famous and beautiful plane, me and a couple of friends that fly flight sims with agree that we will be mostly seeing it through our Revi gunsight :D. We mostly fly fighters, and sometimes ground attack aircraft like the sturmovik. While we will probably end up buying it and flying it a bit for novelty value, it will probably end up collecting dust in the hangar together with those heavy bombers in RoF, and mediums in CLOD. Anyways, that is one opinion, I would like to see what other flyers think.

I also fail to see what is giving 3 of the DCS Mustang level aircraft away getting them? One is more than enough to get people into the sim. IMHO it should be the Thunderbolt, as the Spit and 109 are more popular and more people will be inclined to pay for them. If it was like, P-47 free, 20 dollars for Spit, and 30 for spit and 109, I bet we would have bigger chances to get to the first stretch goal. Hell, ED is only giving the Su-25T which is not DCS level, and I feel that is just right. But I do not feel bad for pledging 40 bucks, as I am sure I will be having lots of fun with those birds. -
I agree! I am all for the Me-262, an I would put it as a first stretch goal. It is already being done as AI, so it has its model, FM and DM. B-17 needs multi-crew capability and crew AI to be useful, and while it is an iconic bird, how many people actually fly level-bombing missions often?

Bought the 2 FC titles, and Combined Arms for 18 euros :D. Cant wait to fly the SU-25 :D

DCS WWII: Europe 1944: Kickstarter Primer
Geronimo989 replied to luthier1's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
I think Kickstarter is amazing new thing for gamers who like more hardcore gaming experience. Big publishers are moving towards consoles and dumbing down their titles, making them more fast paced and flashy. I am sure no big publisher will fund a serious flight (or any other) simulation in near future. The bar is being set higher and higher for production quality and realism, and the user base isn't growing. Actually I will speculate that it is decreasing, because newer generations have smaller attention spans and fewer young people are getting into simulations. That's why all of us flight sim lovers should "unite", set our differences aside and fund games like this whenever we can. You guys definitely have my money, and best wishes, when you start up the preorder! EDIT: By the way, word somehow has to go out that you guys worked on the best ww2 flight sim so far, for those people that don't know that already. Maybe the community can assist you with that, since you can't put that in your announcements. -
Yea, after some test flights on "full real" I agree with you guys. Such a shame, because the graphics look very nice, and it has some very nicely modeled rare planes with cockpits, like Hawker Fury and He-51. Arcade and historic battles are not my cup of tea.
-
Do you guys know when I can get into some full real battles? Yesturday I clicked join battle and set to full real and gave up after waiting for 15 minutes...
-
I think that is the main question. Will all planes be of DCS: Mustang quality?
-
Do you guys have the permission to use aircraft models and textures from Cliffs of Dover? That could bring us early WW2 scenarios faster.
-
I am very excited to hear this, and I wish Mr. Shevchenko and the team great success. I wish all ww2 flight sim fans will support this, so we can have a new, DCS level, IL-2!

They keep flying next to my appartment, and landing few hundred meters from my house. I can't wait to fly one.
