I don't agree with the landscape comments on the review. How many times have we all flown over a ridge and been surprised by enemy fire. I pull a 180 and get back behind the ridge and plan my attack. Saying that the terrain is useless is a little harsh. He must have spent the whole time flying on completely flat terrain. I really hope that ED continues what they are doing and doesn't put too much stock in magazine reviews. I certainly don't want them to dumb down the simulation or make the theater smaller. Black Shark does have its problems but ED is headed in the right direction. -
This is a great question. Can ANYBODY find a benchmark that shows that a dedicated sound card will provide a performance increase on games.

I am on a 26 inch monitor and it didn't make it much easier. Hopefully they improve multi-monitor support on vista with the next patch. :thumbup: -

I know we run this map a few times a day. Feel free to hop on to our teamspeak server. We noticed that nobody sets the correct wingman ID or does anything on the datalink so we usually use a different frequency and pass target data back and forth to each other. It makes playing the map that much better when you have targeting data coming in all the time! :) -

And you have to tell it to "override" the application setting. -
If you are running the corei7 920, you can easily overclock this processor to 3.2ghz with air cooling. It is a great clock speed that doesn't sacrifice stability/heat for performance. I am currently running mine at 1920X1200. I am running a GTX260-192 by the way so you might see a very slight increase in framerates with the 295. Some claim to get 50 FPS with "everything" maxed out but I would highly suggest you have water set on "normal" because this has resulted in a 50% frame rate decrease for most of us and I highly doubt they have AA&AF on 16x and 16Q at a high res like these shots below.

Agreed. And hopefully windows 7 will be even better. For those that are thinking about upgrading, make sure to disable UAC and I disabled AERO.

I have kind of given up on IE because of the way it locked up with java apps. I am using Google CHROME. How does the new version interact with java sites? Another question, those on Vista64...you guys have no problems to report?

My advice would be to learn one system at a time and fly on realistic. Also, find a good bunch of people to fly with online. The online community here is great and there are tons of knowledgeable people. I know that there are lots of X52 profiles posted in the forums.

Thanks Hannibal, I think I am going to hold off on this. The framerate hit is very high in windowed mode and I bought a 26inch monitor to play at the highest resolution possible. Hopefully they address some of this stuff in a patch because for me personally, the negatives outweigh the positives. :(

I am one of those who has a top of the line system and I cut water down to normal. It is a 50% decrease in frames if I turn water on "high". -

Yes, it does. You need to specify a TEMP folder for the installer. Do NOT install them directly to the ka50 folder. You then copy the two files you put in the temp folder to the specified location in the instructions. -

I honestly did not see a huge performance hit, but my machine is fairly new. I really love the mod and it makes a big difference in-game(pleasing to the eye). -
