Hi All, Here are some screenshots of the SIMMOD textures. I turned AA&AF up to 16/16Q for the screenies. I normally play at 8xAF and 8AA @1920X1200. Screnies were taken on the ka50.com server during a mission called "Attrition".

Hi all, I am having a hard time finding a dedicated server provider that has 3dvideo cards in their rack mounted servers(hardly any server manufacturer builds rack mounted servers with them, they are not needed for 99.9% of the applications out there). I found a dedicated server provider that I would like to use, but they don't offer servers with 3dcards. So, I was wondering if anybody knew if it was possible to launch DCS.EXE without launching the GUI and...does anybody know what the arguments would be? If I could get the application to launch without the GUI and run in "server" mode that would be perfect. I am really interested in the "-s --dostring" and "--net" portion.

Zakk, This is completely off-topic and the moderators probably won't appreciate my response, but.........Here on planet Earth, most of us(including myself) are watching our co-workers get lay-off notices and there is fear that there will be more if Q1/Q2 earnings are not positive. My company also suspended merit increases(no raises) and cut the bonuses by 50%. The un-employment rate in my neck of the woods is 8+% with the two largest employers in the area letting 30% of their workforces go. Sorry buddy, my observations are not based on the media. They are based on real world experience and I havn't even mentioned the foreclosure rates and short sale increases on properties.

Stingray, I was seeing about 30 FPS on my rig at stock clock speeds. You can easily overclock this processor to 3.2 ghz and not take a huge penalty in processor temp. I have mine running at 3.2 ghz and I now average around 50 fps. I posted some screenshots in this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=39266

Might want to check with your ISP. I maxed out my cable modem connection download speeds on Tuesday grabbing these files again.

Skypat, The tool works great for setting affinity, but it looks like TrackIR stops responding randomly when I use this. Is there a way to run the utility and NOT set affinity on TrackIR? It seems to set the affinity on the app when it is launched even if you don't select "Track IR" in the utility.

There is no need for a 500 dollar video card if you are just playing Black Shark. If you play other games like Crysis or Supreme commander(multithreaded apps) then I guess spend what you can spend. I have the 192 260 on my system and I posted some screenshots showing that my box achieves 40-60 FPS at a very high resolution with all details on high except water with the SIMMOD textures. As we have all know, water on high seems to drop the FPS by 50% for some reason. The OS shows about 13% CPU aggregate utilization across all 8 "logical" CPU's detected by the operating system. If I had a lower end system, my choice would be a processor upgrade before a video card for this game. I posted some screenshots in another thread but I will post them here too:

Hopefully they make things a little more intuitive in the future so that it isn't so time consuming. Good maps are hard to find. Thanks!

Looking forward to it. By the time this becomes available prices on GDDR3 should come down quite a bit and I will be able to afford lots of ram.

I know from talking to you that Retrograde and Overwatch were very time consuming, but you have built up a fan-base with these maps and set a new gold standard for multiplayer missions. Do you have anything else in the pipe? :thumbup:

For wingman and ground crew, this is almost a must have. I will have to try it!

I monitor theseprocesses on my host and this is what they use on average(this is over a three week period): SMC.exe Symantec CMC Sync 3,652k SMCGui.exe Symantec CMC SmcGui--2,480k RTVScan---2,020k ProtectionUtilSurrogate.exe*32 2,912k There is 0 CPU utlization for all of these processes currently and the processes will only spike during the intrusive nightly scan that I have scheduled at 3 a.m. So, with a machine that has 3 GIGS of RAM, I don't find that this is hindering performance at all. Hell, a Firefox window with a few tabs open uses more resources. I also run this same client on 3 laptops, 2 rack mounted servers and 4 workstations with no problems and those machines are much slower and have less ram. I prefer to have a more robust enterpise solution on my machines and I have seen 0 proof that the client I chose causes any problems for the end users(including me).

50 fps on Vista64 at 1920X1200 with everything on high except water and using SIMMOD textures. Performance on Winxp on the same hardware without the simmod textures was around 35fps. I run the Symantec Endpoint client on this host.

This thing "defraggled" my whole machine. Apparenlty other users with Vista64 are having problems too according to some post on those forums even those this app is "compatable" with vista. Is you use vista, avoid this thing like the plauge. Anywhoo, back to my OS reinstall.

Overclocking will give you the most performance improvement right now. This sim is all about processor speed.

Is a high ping(above 150ms) really bad for this game? I have players on our server almost every morning that are in the 280-400ms range and they seem to be fine.
