  1. Gonna get it because I also own the P-51. Which together with the F-86 should make for some awesome missions if we get a korean map!
  2. Have none of you complaining whiny "geniuses" come up with the idea that what's currently happening in the Ukraine might have something to do with it? Ilya has mentioned before that the Ukraine situation is directly affecting people who work on DCS:WW2. I suggest you guys frigging chill - let's hope everybody working on this title and their families are still well and healthy!
  3. Its pretty confusing. On the KS page it says 28, but he clearly mentioned model 30 in this development update: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/508681281/dcs-wwii-europe-1944/posts/671732  I would have actually preferred a Razorback-model, but thats just me. :music_whistling:
  4. Wait. You guys got me all confused again. So I need to buy the P-51 again for WWII, even if I already own it for DCS:World? And its supposed to be the exact same plane? Wasnt the whole point of DCS:WWII to be modular, like DCS:World? Maybe its just that english is not my native language and I am missing the point again..:book:
  5. So, simply because he is a Moderator he is not allowed to share his opinion on the subject at hand?! You must be joking.
  6. What I have heard and read is that space in the cockpit was tight even for guys that are about 5 foot 6 (which is the opposite of "tall" really). Also in WWII the seatbelts were tightened by the crew chief before take off, most likely to the point of being "pretty damn" tight as far as I know. I dont see the possibility for a WWII era Mustang pilot to leisurly hang his arm out the pit during taxi. The guy in that picture might be using a different, more modern harness arrangement than a pilot in WWII. Who knows if he was doing or going to do any aerobatics that day. Try looking over your shoulder whithout moving your upper body. Personally I think that Headtracking ingame makes this a lot easier than it most likely was in the real thing. Thank god! :D
  7. By the way, it is confirmed that the Jug will be a D-30: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/508681281/dcs-wwii-europe-1944/posts/671732

  10. Not meaning to do the Moderators job, but in my opinion this "high octane fuel" discussion should be seperated from any thread specific to one plane if possible.. :music_whistling:
  11. Als long as those guys from the cummunity would be qualified people that take it seriously and do their work according to historical correctness, I say do it! Could cut development time on the map-front by a large chunk for sure.
  12. Does that mean the Spit we will get on launch will be an L.F Mk.IX variant? Didnt the F Mk. IX use a different Merlin variant? If I am wrong, please correct me. After all, I am a noob and here to learn primarily. :book:
  13. Well, its quite difficult to implement superiority in numbers in a multiplayer environment, which from a gameplay standpoint, needs to be balanced. :smartass: I am actually looking forward to the awesome challenge that is facing off against a 262 in a Mustang! :pilotfly: edit: I can barely fly the Mustang, so even a parked 262 will be a challenge for me.. :megalol:
  14. You are doing a good job, keep on going. Looking forward to the next update!
  15. "fields and winding country lanes sunken between narrow low ridges and banks surmounted by tall thick hedgerows that break the wind but also limit visibility." (from wikipedia) These are not only trees lined up in a row, but also dense bushes. In a lot of cases, there might even be low "walls" of stones (underneath the bushes) loosely piled up, to mark the borders (property) between fields.

  17. Thanks for the update, hopefully people can "cool their engines" now. Personally, I think Luthier is not doing bad as a community manager, however I am convinced that hiring someone for that job would help him and the project a lot! edit: I find community relations and PR just as important as making the actual product. My opinion, nobody has to agree.
  18. That looks awesome, glad to see what great progress is being made, despite all the silence from Luthier!
  19. Nice read Merlin, very interesting! I just stumbled upon another truckload of maps, photos, illustrations, troop movement and more: http://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/USA/USA-A-Utah/index.html http://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/USA/USA-A-Omaha/index.html http://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/USA/USA-A-StLo/index.html http://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/USA/USA-A-Small/index.html I dunno how helpful all my posts in this thread have been so far, but I feel like a treasure hunter, its great!:pilotfly::smartass::book:
  20. Aerial photograph of an inundated zone on the Cotentin Peninsula south of Sainte-Mère-Église, France, prior to the airborne assault on D-Day, June 6, 1944. I guess they used the nearby river and the ditches for watering crops to flood this area. On another note, roughly 16% of the initial funding are going into landscape development (as stated on kickstarter), so I demand some sort flooded fields! Just like others want to see the typical hedgerows, or historically accurate towns. ;)
  21. This might be helpful, I dunno..:book:
  22. To get back to the initial request for info on movement, tactics and terrain features in the days following the invasion; US 29th Division On June 7 and 8: Terrain features inland from Omaha Beach: There is plenty more where these came from with walls of text that explain every detail: Omaha Beachhead (6 June - 13 June): http://www.history.army.mil/books/wwii/100-11/100-11.HTM Utah Beach to Cherbourg (6 June - 27 June): http://www.history.army.mil/books/wwii/utah/utah.htm Get to work RRG, and bring us the most detailed, good looking and authentic Normandy combat-area in gaming history!
  23. more work(P-47) for 0$ = less work(Spit/262) for ~35$ a piece
